The book al-Kamil fi'l-Ta'rikh by ʿIzz ad-Dīn Ibn al-Athīr is one of the historical sources, which is still attracting the notice of both Arab and foreign writers alike. The final parts of that book represent very important sources for studying the history of the Saljuq state, regarding its establishment, the growth of its political, military, and intellectual influence in many areas of the Muslim world and his narratives about the above-mentioned aspects have reached us through those parts. From the above-mentioned facts comes the significance of our research paper, which represents an attempt to clarify the value of his own historical narratives of that period, notably the period between )446 -429/1037-1054 (, notably that period became crucial in the history of the Saljuq and Buwayhid states when Tughril established his control over Iran.

A brief account of the historian Ibn al-Athīr and the importance of his book in writing the Saljuqs' history.
The sources which Ibn al-Athīr depended on when he wrote down news of the Saljuq state in Iran.
The historical value of his information in comparison with the information of his time historians.

The research sheds light on the conditions of Jews and Christians in Mosul during the 6th-7th A.H. / 12th-13th centuries A.D. through the book "Tarikh Al-Zaman" written by Ibn al-Abri. The information provided by Ibn al-Abri has a great historical importance, especially when he talks about the conditions of Jews and Christians during the Mongol invasion. This is because Ibn al-Abri was a contemporary and eyewitness to many of the events he recorded, including those related to political, religious, social aspects, and others, with a focus on matters of the Christian section and the types of persecution they faced, as the author was one of its followers
