This work aims to analyze the correlation between ultraviolet radiation reaching the earth in Basra city – Iraq with the daily maximum temperature and relative humidity. We use atmospheric data available online and employ the Spearmen Rank Order Correlation (SROC) analysis technique. We find a significant strong positive correlation between the ultraviolet radiation level and daily maximum temperature, and we find a significantly strong correlation inverse between the ultraviolet radiation level and daily relative humidity. The results can serve as public guidance when exposed to sunshine in the city.

We report effect of bifidobacterium longum suspension and supernatant on serum lipid profile and kidney function in male Wistar rats. Groups of 6 rats each were fed standard diet (controls) and atherogenic diet daily for 28 days. Other rats were fed atherogenic diet supplemented with gavage 1ml of 0.5 per 1×108 CFU/1ml Bifidobacterium longum suspension and supernatant daily for 14 (n=6) and 28 (n=6) days. compared with control lipid profile and kidney function was increased in at rogenic diet group whenever in the bacterial suspension for 14 days reduced (P < 0.05) serum triglyceride (TG) and very low density lipid (VLDL), and given for 28 days, reduced total cholesterol, TG, low density lipoprotein and VLDL but increased high density lipoprotein (HDL). In kidney functions creatinine was decreased with significant in14 and 28 days. In urea there was non-significant decreasing in period 14 days but there was significant decreasing in 28 days. In supernatant that gave orally to the rats daily 14 (n=6) and (n=28), in period 14 days all the parameters (TC, TG, VLDL, LDL) was a decrease with no significant and HDL parameter increased compared with atherogenic diet group. In period 28 days there was decreasing with significant differences in parameters (TC, TG, LDL) and without significant differences in parameter VLDL compared with the atherogenic diet group The histological investigation in the kidney of rats that given bacterial suspension and supernatant gave improvement in kidney function and less deposition in lipids compared with atherogenic diet group for 28 days

The hepatitis C virus was discovered by Choo et al in 1989. It belongs to the Flaviviridae family and has an envelope with nucleic acid ssRNA. There is a clear relationship between infection with hepatitis C virus and patients with kidney failure, so patients undergoing hemodialysis are more likely to be infected with Hepatitis C. Methods: The study started from December 2020 to April 2021. The study group included 100 patients with chronic kidney disease undergoing dialysis, of whom 44 were female and 56 were male with ages ranging from 15-75 years and sexes. About 5 mL of venous blood using a disposable syringe of all patients was collected for serologic identification of HCV. Results: A total of 100 patients suffering from CKD infection were 54.2% males and 45.8% females, according to their age and gender into six age groups with a mean age ± standard deviation (SD) was 17.5 ± 7.6 years. The results of the current study showed that 23% of patients were anti-HCV positive and 77% were anti-HCV negative using ELISA technique. Conclusion: The current study showed a seroprevalence of hepatitis C infection among chronic kidney patients undergoing hemodialysis, which constitutes a burden on patients and affects their recovery from infection

This review study aimed to collect information about Brucellosis as a disease that has an impact on humans from several aspects, whether from the health or economic aspect. Brucellosis is one of the most common contagious and communicable zoonotic diseases with high rates of morbidity and lifetime sterility, caused by genus Brucella. Brucella is a Gram-negative, aerobic, and facultative intracellular coccobacillus, and due to its complex nature, brucellosis remains a serious threat to public health and livestock in developing countries. There are various diagnostic tests employed for the diagnosis of brucellosis including culture, serological, immunopathological and molecular methods, but the quantitative or real-time polymerase chain reaction (qPCR) assay is specific and highly sensitive and could be an appropriate method for the rapid and safe detection of the genus Brucella

Leptin hormone is produced and secreted by adipose tissue, especially white adipose tissue, which is the main source of leptin production in humans and is mainly located in the subcutaneous adipose tissue. It can also be secreted from other tissues such as the placenta and skeletal muscle. The laboratory work was conducted in the Molecular Genetics Laboratory of the Animal Resources Department of the College of Agriculture at the University of Basrah. Fifteen "male" lambs were purchased from Missan Governorate. Also, 54 blood samples were collected randomly from the Arab sheep belonging to the animal field in the College of Agriculture and completed the number of blood samples from the Basra slaughterhouse to become 109 samples, to detect the genetic conformation of the leptin gene by the polymerase chain reaction technique - the formation of the single strand corresponding to the nucleic acid. It was found that there was a genetic mutation of the leptin gene in the Arab sheep, and the emergence of two genotypes, AA and AB, with a frequency of 0.64 for the A allele and a frequency of 0.36 for the B allele from the total animal size.
