Monthly variations in physio-chemical parameters of Al-Dujaila, one of the main tributaries of the Tigris River were investigated from October 2013 to April 2014. The study location situated in the south-eastern sector of Iraq, and it was surrounded by wide and fertile agricultural lands. Three stations were selected for that. The first station is located at the beginning AL-Dujaila River after branching the Tigris river as control. The second is situated at distance 2 km away from the former represented study area.The latter station is located at 4 km apart from the second one. Samples collectingmonthly, two samples were taken each month. In the present study fourteen physical and chemical parameters were analyzed based on the importance of these parameters. These fourteen parameters are arranged as following: air temperature (17 to 36) ºC, water temperature (10 to 24) ºC, pH (7.02to 8.2), E.C. (1115 to1378) μS/cm, salinity ( 0.71 to 0.90) ppt, DO (7.05 to 11.65) mg/L , BOD ( 1.2 to 7.05) mg/L ,turbidity (21.0 to 65) NTU, TDS (743 to 918) mg/L , TSS (32 to 95) mg/L , T.H2(320 to 500) mg/L , Cl- (104 to 178) mg/L, NO3 (6 to 14.53) mg/L and PO4 (0.16 to 0.60) mg/L.

We focus in this review on the theoretical description of the probability of electron transmission at metal/semiconductor at the interface depending on the quantum theory and density functional theory .Electronic devices technology largely rely on metal/ semiconductor system interfaces, whose most important coefficient parameters for the probability of electron transmission such that :reorientation free energy , potential barrier height ( ),work function ,affinity of semiconductor ,coupling coefficient matrix element, concentration of electron ,volume of unit cell for semiconductor ,petration factor , and temperature T(K) . The probability of electron transport rate constant in Au/ Ge ,and Au/Si interface system has been calculated and the transmission through interface is examined .A Mat lab program has been used to calculate the rate constant of electron transfer and all parameters of transmission by solvingthe suitable formulas .Our results data show that the probability of the rate constant for electron transfer increases with the increasing of the coupling coefficient and temperature, and decreasing of the reorganization energy

Pleomorphic adenoma, also called benign mixed tumor, is the most common tumor of the salivary glands. About 90% of these tumors occur in the parotid gland and 10% of them occur in the minor salivary glands. The most common sites for pleomorphic adenoma of the minor salivary glands are the palate, followed by the lips and the cheeks without any ulceration or perforation of the mucosa. Other rare sites include the floor of the mouth, tongue, tonsil, pharynx, the retromolar area and the nasal cavity. Here, we are reporting a case of pleomorphic adenoma of the minor salivary glands of the check in a 36-year old woman perforate the check mucosa. The mass was removed by wide local excision. There were no recurrences after a follow-up period.

Thermal degradation of fresh automotive lubricant characterized using TGA technique under Helium atmosphere at different heating rate 5, 10,20,30,40 Co /min based on mass loss as a function of temperature. To obtain the kinetic parameters and to describe the thermal decomposition of lubricant, TGA curves and their derivatives were analyses using Coast-Redfern methods. Kinetic parameters were determined was satisfactory presenting good correlation with linear correlation coefficient close to unit using SPSS package and was in a good agreement with publishes data. Also the present study describes soot content determination for different used lubricant. This wok aims to characterize the thermal decomposition process in relation to its kinetic, thermodynamic property and measure amount of soot.

Background: Glaucoma is a worldwide major blinding eye disease. Medical treatment aims at reduction of intraocular pressure (IOP) to prevent further damage to the optic nerve. Dorzolamide 2.0% + timolol 0.5% (D / T - FC) (Cosopt®) and brinzolamide 1.0% + timolol 0.5% (B / T - FC) (Azarga®) are both types of commercially available fixed dose combination eye drops that are used to treat primary open angle glaucoma (POAG) and ocular hypertension (OHT). Dorzolamide and brinzolamide are topical carbonic anhydrase inhibitors (CAIs) fixed combined with timolol a beta-adrenoceptor blocker. CAIs and beta blockers reduce IOP through inhibiting the production of aqueous humor by the ciliary epithelium.
Aim: The aim of this prospective clinical therapeutic study was to compare the efficacy and side effects of both combinations in POAG and OHT.
Patients & methods: 50 cases of POAG / OHT were enrolled in this study. The patients were randomly assigned to 2 groups with 25 patients in each group. Group 1 received D / T - FC eye drops twice daily while group 2 received B / T - FC eye drops twice daily. Baseline IOP was measured and recorded and then followed up at regular intervals of 2 weeks for one month then monthly for 6 months and then the percentage of reduction was determined. The side effects questioned and reported by the patients were recorded.
Results: Both groups had a statistically significant reduction in IOP from baseline (P=0.0001). In the first group IOP reduction ranged from 7.0 to 12.0 mmHg (21.9 – 37.5 %) while in group 2 IOP reduction ranged from 6.5 to 11.0 mm Hg (20.7 – 37.9 %). No significant difference existed between the 2 groups (P=0.6075). Group 2 reported less adverse effects than group 1 (P=0.0412).
Conclusion: Both combinations were equally effective in reducing IOP in glaucoma and OHT patients, however B / T - FC was more tolerated.

Risk management (RM) is one of the critical success factors for the construction of projects, project participants generally do not have sufficient knowledge pertinent to risk management concept and the number of risk management support tools which facilitate the process are rather low. Research problem can be identify by the process of risk management, applying risk management in construction projects, types and identified, assessing and controlling of risk in construction projects. In order to facilitate risk management activities, decision support tools that will enable risk identification, analysis and response strategy formulation should be developed. Decision support tools are necessary for systematic identification of risks, scenario generation, proactive management of risk and integration of risk management activities with other project management functions such as planning, cost estimating and monitoring project success. The proposed decision support system, namely Integrated Risk Management System (IRMS), is designed to support the user at all phases of the risk management process. Major functions of IRMS include, risk analysis by Monte Carlo (MC) simulation (probability and rating degree), risk assessment by risk rating, risk re-assessment, response generation. The applicability of the system has been tested by a real case study (three Iraqi construction cases) and its functionality has been demonstrated using the data associated with these cases, study (three cases). Risk carting (RC) processes are reduced from high risk management to moderate ones for the three project cases.

Background: Nasal septal deviation is a common cause for nasal obstruction and usually treated by surgery. Submucous resection of the septum (SMR) and septoplasty are the common procedures for the treatment of nasal septal deflection.
Aims of the study: To audit the functional outcome of the patients undergoing submucous resection of the septum and septoplasty for deflected nasal septum.
Materials and methods: 100 patients are complaining from symptomatic nasal obstruction due to nasal septal deviation. Their ages are ranged from 18-55 years. They were divided in to two groups, 60 of them were treated by SMR and 40 patients (caudal end and anterior deviation) were treated by septoplasty in Alzahra Teaching Hospital, Al- Kut / Iraq. From January 2009 to December 2011. Both surgeries were done under general anaesthesia with anterior nasal packs for 24 hours. For the patients with septoplasty a bilateral silastic splints left for 10 days. Follow up done in the outpatient department for 6 months to 1year.
Results: The functional nasal obstruction was relieved in 50/60 patients (83.3%) for SMR and 28/40 (70%) for septoplasty. The overall complications were nearly equal (33.3%) for SMR and (30%) for septoplasty.
Conclusion: The study revealed the superiority of SMR in relieving the symptomatic nasal obstruction than septoplasty.

Hydatid disease, being endemic in several areas of the world, is of interest even to surgeons in non-endemic areas because they may encounter the disease due to ease and rapidity of travel as well as immigration. Surgery remains the method of choice in the management of hepatic hydatid cysts. Because of limited experience, controversies still exist about the laparoscopic managememt of hepatic hydatid cysts. We report a case of a thirty four years-old male, presented with a well defined large cyst occupying most of the right hepatic lobe successfully treated with laparoscopic total cystectomy. The operation and hospitalization period were uncomplicated. Controlled follow-up clinically and radiologically showed no remaining pathology or recurrence in any form.

Carnitine was detected at the beginning of the previous. In the last 30 years, interest in the metabolism and functions of carnitine has steadily increased. Carnitine plays an essential role in fatty acid metabolism by facilitating the transport of long-chain free fatty acids into the mitochondrial matrix, making them available for β-oxidation, which is the most efficient metabolic pathway for energy production. The present study was performed to determine the effects of L-carnitine administered to pregnant mice on some parameters of reproductive performance for their female offspring. Sixty healthy female mice (age: 6 weeks) were used in this study, and divided into two equal groups including control group (mothers administered distilled water during gestation period)
and treated group (mothers administered 1 mg/Kg L-carnitine during gestation period). Blood samples were taken from their female offspring for assessment of serum hormones (FSH, LH and E2). Also, weight of reproductive system for female offspring was recorded, and then histological sections were prepared for the uterus and ovary to measure the diameters uterine gland and ovary, in addition to measure endometrial thickness. Significant elevation (P<0.01) was observed in the levels of serum gonadotropins (FSH and LH) and E2 for the treated group as compared to the control group. Weight of female reproductive system for the treated group was highly significant increased (P<0.01) as compared to the control group. Also, significant increment (P<0.05) was noticed in the thickness of endometrium for the treated as compared to the control group. Similarly, diameters of ovary and uterine glands for treated group were increased significantly (P<0.05) when compared to the control group. Conclusion: Administration low doses of L-carnitine to pregnant mice have positive effects on reproductive performance of their female offspring. Further studies are recommended to investigate effects of L-carnitine to pregnant mice on oogenesis for their female offspring.
