Ten young horses (6 males , 4 females ), 2-2.5 years old infected with stangles were used in this study . The clinical signs were obvious . Strp vacc-5 vaccine was used intramuscularty and the animals were kept under clinical observation for two weeks. The clinical signs disappeared from all vaccinated animals within 8 days, and the vaccine gave good positive results. It was recommended to use it for treatment and vaccination at the same time .

This study indicate that the four lines of FAOBRO chicken breeders could be exposed to non-vira1 infections .The range of acceptability were variable from one line of breeders to another. The perccentage of yolk sac infection was ( 44. 3% ) at the age of first week in chickens in all lines. cocidial infection represent percentage ( 27.1% ) in the lines A,C and D only , cases of septicemia were recorded in brooding, rearing and eggs production with a percentage of (21.7%). the highest was seen in the eggs production period Air sacculitis occurrence was in a percentage of (3.5%) from the total cases examined and was seen in line B only at brooding period .Gout cases

This study had been done on three veliges in Suara (Wasit). The study includes Bacteriological investeaation and specific tests for Brucella S.P. in cattle & man, so the results showed that there is a direct relationship between the infection in the human being and those of animals, depending on the positive serological results on human with and with out clinical symptoms. By estimation a significant titer of the antibodies type (IgG).in the cases of the acute infection the, (IgM)antibody is the predominate class, in addition to that the isolation and identification of Brucella abortus has been done from some cases of man & animals. It is important to mention that we found a significant titer of antibody (IgG) in infant baby with a breast feeding at the same time we found a same titer in his mother.

Attenuated 3rd stage larvae of Dictyocaulus filaria, by continuos emission of visible Helium- Neon laser of 1mW and a wave length of 632.8 nm for 2.5,5,10 and 15 minutes, were dosed twice orally to four groups of five kids each. The first dose contained 1000 larvae and after five weeks a second dose of 2000 larvae was given . A 5 th group of five kids was left as control. Results showed that attenuation at 2.5 min. exposure was insufficient as indicated by the increase in respiratory rate, eosinophilia and shading of larvae in the feaces. The results indicated that attenuation of Dictyocaulus filaria larvae at (5, 10 , and 15) min. exposure to laser radiation were efficient and safe to be used as attenuated vaccine .

The experiment was carried out to evaluate a killed vaccine of HHS prepared from liver extract treated with (0.1%) formalin . The vaccine was injected Sc. Or. im. At (12) or (12,20) days old broilers . At age of 25 days, chicks were challenged with HHS liver extract . The vaccinated chicks showed full protection with no clinical signs or pathological changes .

The survival ability and development of the free living stages of Dictyocaulus. filaria larvae were studied to understand the epidemiology of this parasite in irrigation system . Galvanised iron boxes were planted and containated at subsequent times by faeces containing the larvae. Then faecal , soil and pasture samples were examined weekly, climatic conditions were recorded in Baghdad area.


The results showed that the free living larvae survived and migrated from the faeces to the soil and pasture in the squares of the 2 nd group of boxes which has been contaminated in January for a longer period in comparison with other groups. The larvae survived until the 1 st week of April in their faecal , soil and pasture samples. On the other hand , no larvae could be recovered after one week of contamination in the fifth group of boxes which has been contaminated in July. In the other groups of boxes, the larvae survived for (98) days in the 1 st group , (49) days in the 3 rd group and for (21) days in the 4 th group, however, the number of larvae in the soil and pasture in all groups was lower than that in the faeces, and the presence of larvae in the soil was recovered for short time


The climatic condition during December , January , Febreuary and March had good influence on the survivability and moulting of the larvae in comparison with the adverse effect of other months . *Part of his M.Sc. Thesis.

The present investigation aimed to study the Adenosine Deaminase activity in induction Cytogentic and histopathological change in skin and eyes of sumicidine treated rats. The study Included. 1-Adenosine deaminase activity . 2-Total serum protein. 3-Micronuclei in binucleated cell. 4-Histopathological changes in skin and eyes.


19 white male rats were used . They are randomly allocated into 3 groups : 1st group was fed 2% sumicidine for 15 days. 2nd group was fed 2% heating sumicidine for 15 days . 3rd group was kept on normal diet. Blood Adenosine Deaminase activity and Total serum protein in 1 and 2 group significantly decreased at 15 and 30 days of treated. The results


indicated that sumicidine increased significantly micronucleus in group 1 and 2. Multifocal granulomatous lesions in skin & eyes of group 1 and 2 were found characterized by highly aggregation of cells (Lymphocytes, Macrophages, Foreign body giant cells and fibroblasts).


In conclusion , Sumicidine even heated accompaying in decreased in decreased Adenosine Deaminase activity and total serum protein , in part a possible factor in the cytogenetic effect and accompanying granuloma formation in skin and eye .

The objective of the present investigation to study the effect of (HMG) which extracted from urine of menopausal women according to the method of Albert (1955). The following parameters were studied : 1-Effect of crude hormonal extract on testicular weights of immature mice. 2-Effect of crube hormonal extract on the Ascorbic acid concentrations in ovaries of pseadopregnant mice .


The crude hormonal extract from urine of menopausal women caused a significant increase in the testicular weights of immature mice . Administration of crude hormonal extract to pseadopregnant mice significantly decreased their ovarian ascorbic acid content in comparison to the control group. It is concluded that a modified method was developed in it\'s preparation resulting in an extract of higher biological activity.

This experiment was carried out to determine structural functional changes which could be caused due to uses of dexamethasone at daily therapeutic doses in rabbits for a reasonable period. Ten adult male rabbits were randomly divided into two equal groups control and treatment. Animals of the treatment group were intramuscularly injected with dexamethasone sod. citrate (0.06 mg/100g.B.W.) for 14 days. Animals of control group received the same dose of normal physiological saline solution blood samples were collected every other day until 48 hours after the last injection serum was isolated for measurement of calcium concentrations. At the end of the experiment tissue samples from the parathyroid glands were isolate to prepare histological stained sections . Dexamethasone did not cause significant changes in serum concentration of calcium of treated group compared with its concentrations in control group. Light microscopic examination of hematoxylin eosion stained sections of parathyroid gland showed enlargement and increase in number of light chief cells indicating increased secretory activity due to dexamethasone injection. The increased of parathyroid gland activity explain the maintenance of total calcium level within the normal range in spite of the expected hypocalcemia due to dexamethasone administration.

This study was aimed to prepare ready food from some meat proteins . Two groups of protein fractions were I.E. water- soluble (sarcoplasmic proteins ) and water insoluble (myofibrial proteins) were obtained. There recipes of sarcoplasmic proteins were prepared , the first recipe contained corn starch, potato , oil, salt and spices, the second recipe contained tomato juice, naringe juice, oil, salt and spice; while the third recipe contained rice flour. naringe juice, oil, salt and spice. Chemical and sensory evaluation were carried out on these recipes . Myofibrial proteins (actin, myosin , and stroma proteins I.E. collagen and elastin) were lyophilized in order to prepare different soup recipes and study its sensory characteristics .

This work was done to investigate Nocardiosis in cattle in order to evaluate the incidence of nocardiali mastitis in Al- dejiala station, bacteriological examination was conducted on 90 milk samples obtaited from mastitic cows Nocardia asteroides was found in 25 out of 90 (27. 77% mastitic cows. This M.O was recorered in pure culture in 5. cases and as mixed with other microorganisms in 20 cases . The gross examination of the affected udders showed multiple nodular lesions in firm fibrotic udders, some of them formed draining sinus which exuded pus to the exterior multifocal nodules of varying size were seen in the lungs Microscopic examination of the affected


udders revealed pyogranulomatous lesions in different areas of the glandular parenchyma multiple classical granulomatous lesions were also noticed in the lung tissues.

The epididymal region of the common quail was located on the dorso-medial aspect of the testis, extending from cranial pole to the caudal pole of the testis and connected the urodeum via the vas deferens and the receptaculum. The ductus epididymidis in common quail showed a series of coiled ductules which were closely bounded to the testis by connective tissue. The lining epithelium of these ductules were ciliated columnar epithelium, but non ciliated columnar epithelium were also noticed.

Experimental study albion mice as a host was conducted in on attempt to inactivate the larval stage of Echinococcus granulosus by formalin treatment. Animals were divided into three groups. The first group was inoculated subcutaneously with alive ovine hydatid protoscolices , whereas the second group was inoculated similarly with 0.75% formalin- treated protoscolices. The rhird group was remained as negative control. a comparison was held between the three groups from haematological , immunological and histopathological points of view. The haematological picture revealed lymphopenia, eosinophilia and neutrophilia in both treated groups of mice. Infected mice in groups 1 and 2 responded subcutaneous injection of the antigen by production of antibodies detected by indirect haemagglutination test. Similar responses did not occur in noninfected control mice. Pathologically, results showed that the cellular were concentrated at the site of inoculation and at the draining lymph nodes without spreading to other organs. The formalinized protoscolices failed to induce development or formation of any cysts at the site of inoculation , in comparison with live protoscolices . The challenge of both treated groups at 4 weeks post primary infection showed that 80% of the infected and vaccinated animals resisted infection .

The seeds of Trigonella foenum graecum (Fenugreek) was fed to laying hens at dietary level of 6% for 28 days. FG seeds generally had no toxic effects as evidence by normal liver function tests. Histological examination of liver sections from FG seeds fed hens (groupT) lack of any histopathological changes as compared with hens fed basal diet (groupC), and the activities of plasma transaminases enzymes were not altered. On the other hand the plasma level of ALP enzyme significantly increased under the effects of feeding FG seeds. Plasma sugar of groupT revealed a significant elevation correlated with a decrease in plasma proteins. The results of the present work indicate a nontoxic effect of FG seeds on hepato cellular function

An attempt to simulate paratyphoid fever-B, in the experimental animals has been carried out in white mice. Paratyphoid bacilli type-B was isolated from the febrile patients in the Ibn-Al-Khatib hospital. One LD50 was enough to produce disease in the white mice, however 10 doses were used for mice. The microorganism was inoculated intraperitoneally in to the experimental animals; the course of the dissemination within the animals was clarified by sacrificing two mice at specific intervals after inoculation and for 30 days. The organs of the sacrificed and dead mice were examined for the presence ofmicroorganisms. The microorganism were found in the spleen, liver and mediastinal lymph node for 29,25 and 17 days postinfection respectively, whereas, the microorganisms were persist in the lungs and heart blood for 11 days and in the brain and kidneys for 7 days postinoculation. The pathological changes were initiated as a neutrophils aggregates and microabscesses in the spleen, liver and mediastinal lymph node. During the second week post infection, these microabscesses and neutrophils aggregates will be replaced by mononuclear cells (lymphocytes and macrophages) to form granulomatous type lesion in these organs and to become more chronic and fibrosed, during third and fourth week post-infection. Also mild miscellaneous pathological lesions were demonstrated during the first week in brain kidney and in the lungs and gradually disappeared.

Permethrin, is a synthetic insecticide of appreciably low mammalian toxicity, it is especially useful for household purposes. This work aimed to study the gonadotoxic effect of this insecticide in Swiss mice, using two oral doses of 2000 and 3000 mg/kg b. w. for 30 days. The daily dose was 1.66 mg/kg and 2.5 mg/kg of active ingredient of permethrin for group | and group || respectively. The effect was determined by counting the percentage of damaged seminiferous tubules, their average diameter, and the spermatogenesis rate, also the changes in body weight and in testes-to-body weight ratio. Results showed that the insecticide caused significant reduction in body weight, increase in testes weight, as well as testes-to-body weight ratio, seminiferous tubules in treated animals were found to increase in diameter showing low degrees of damage. Nevertheless, spermatogenic activity was almost normal but in descending order, and Leydig cells remained unaffected. It was concluded that permethrin, has a slight gonadotoxic effect at the doses used which may not really affect the fertility of animals at the doses used.

The pathology of local isolated strain of Nocardia asteroides was study in pigs . 60 animals were divided into two groups. The 1st group (40 animals) was given a single intrapulmonary of 3.3X10\'CFU of N. astoroides. The 2 nd group (20 animals) served as control . Eight animals died during the first 3 weeks post – infection while the remaining were sacrificed at 6, 12, 24, 48 hrs and 4, 8, 16, 24 and 62 days P.I. Early pathological examination revealed acute suppurative changes which seen turned into disseminated chronic form. Pyogranul matous and epithelioid granuloma have represented the main pathological changes at 8-24 days P.J. The results revealed arisein the level of bacterial counts followed by drop in count within 8-24 days P.I. Excepted kidney in which high bacterial counts persisted toward the end of the experiment
