New metal complexes of type M2(HL)2.4H2O[(M = Co(II), Ni (II) and Cu (II)] were prepared using the ligand (HL) =2-[(1H-Pyrrol-2-ylimino methyl)]-5-(2-hydoxy-phenyl)-[1,3,4-thiadiazol]. The Schiff bases were was condensed from [1H-Pyrrole-2-carbaldehyde] with [2-amino-5-(2-hydroxy-phenyl-1,3,4-thiadiazole] in alcoholic medium. The prepared complexes were characterized by FTIR, UV-vis, 1H-NMR and mass spectra as well as magnetic susceptibility measurements, thermal analysis. The activation thermodynamic parameters, such as ΔE*, ΔH*, ΔS*and ΔG*are calculated from the TGA curve using Coats-Red fern method. From the spectral measurements, structures for the complexes were proposed. Preliminary in vitro tests for antimicrobial activity show that all prepared compounds display good activity to Staphylococcus aureus, Escherishia coli, Pseudononas aeroginosa and Cndida albicans

New compounds of (E-(1,3-bis)3-bromophenyl) prop-2-en-1-one], (E-(1-(3-Nitrophenyl-(3-(1-h-pyrrol-2-yl) prop-2-en-1-one], (E-(1-(3-Nitrophenyl-(3-(1H-pyrrol-2-yl) prop-2-en-1-one], [(E)–N,N-1,3-bis) 3-Nitrophenyl) propan-3-yl-1-ylidene) dimethan amine], (E-(1-(3-Nitrophenyl-(3-(1-H-pyrrol-2-yl)prop-2-en-1-one] and [(E-(1,3-bis)4-dimethylamino) phenyl) prop-2-en-1-one] have been synthesized. The prepared compounds have synthesized from chalcone [1] and characterized by using FT-IR, Uv/ vis and 1H-NMR spectra besides, determining the melting pointsand Rf with the biological activity

The available hydroxyl groups on the starch chains potentially exhibit reactivity specific for alcohols which weremodified with chlorosulfonic acid at zeroºC to yield starch sulfonic acid P1, then substitution of P1to its corresponding drug derivatives such as with allopurinole or ampicilline P2and P3respectively.The new prepared starch derivatives were characterized byFT.IR and UV. Spectroscopy.The physical properties were studied.Thermal analyses were recorded and swelling% were studied, Controlled drug release were measured at different pH values at 37ºC.Intrinsic viscosities were measured using Ostwald viscometer at 30ºC. This technique through which stomach drug targeting can be achieved as timed released system

In this research the complex [Bis(1,10)-phenanthroline)nitratolead(II)] nitrate was prepared and the adsorption of the complex on (activated carbon, zeolite and mixture of them) was studied in equal weights under various conditions such as: temperature, contact time, pH and the change in the weights of adsorbents. With respect to activated carbon, the adsorption quantity was increased at: (30-50)C0and (60-90) min, the suitable weight of activated carbon for adsorption was (0.15)g at pH (9). Zeolite, the adsorption quantity was increased at the temp. reached (50)C0in a contact time lower than (90)min at a critical weight (0.3)g and pH(9). Finally when both adsorbents were mixed, the adsorption quantity was increased at temp. reached (50)C0with the range of time (60-90)min in a weight (0.25)g at the range of pH(5-11).

Pre-eclampsia is a multisystem disorder of pregnancy, which complicates 3%-5% of pregnancies in the world .The present study deals with estimation of levels of Osteopontin, Inhibin B, protein, albumin, globulin and Alb./Glb. ratio in forty five Pregnant Women with Preeclampsia in comparison with thirty healthy Pregnant Women. In Pregnant Women with Preeclampsia, the level of Osteopontin and Inhibin B were significantly higher as compared to the normal subjects [p<0.01]. In Pregnant Women with Preeclampsia the levels of S. calcium S.Protein and albumin were significantly decreased as compared to the normal subjects [p<0.05, p<0.05and p<0.01] respectively. Based on findings of the present study, it can be concluded that Patients with Preeclampsia had significantly higher serum inhibin B and Osteopontin concentrations compared to healthy pregnant women. In addition, thecurrent study could not determine any links between Osteopontin levels and other biochemical markers in this study

In this paper sixteen polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs) were estimated in eight sites along DiyalaRiver where entering Baghdad province until flows into Tigris River, (PAHs) organic compound dscontain two or more fused rings.Some of these compounds are classified as carcinogenic and mutagenic pollutants. Solid Phase extraction was used in this work to concentrate PAHs in water samplesusing Sep-back C18 showed percentage recoveries between(82-97) percent.High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) with UV-Vis detector was usedfor determination of PAHs.The result of PAHs concentrations were found in the water samples range between (zero -186.86)ng/ml.According to our results sites number one, two,six, seven and eight have the least values of total PAHs concentration with 10.8, 12.0, 39.3, 30.7 and 14.9 ng/ml respectively, while, three, four and five siteshave a largepolluted with 396.5, 660.9 and 189.5 ng/ml respectivelybecause these sites are near pollutants sources. Naphthalene, Anthracene and Fluoranthene with total concentrations415.8, 259.2 and 286.4 ng/ml respectively,compounds Benzo[a]pyrene andDibenz[a,h]anthracene arenot detected in all sites

An optimized and validated spectrophotometric method has been developed for the determination of Tetracycline hydrochloride (TCH) in pharmaceutical formulations. The method is based on the reaction between TCH, sodium nitroprusside and hydroxylamine hydrochloride in alkaline medium. The product absorbed maximally at 529 nm. Beer’s law is obeyed in the working concentration range of 2-60 μg mL-1with apparent molar absorptivity of 5.049×103L mol-1cm-1 and Sandell’s sensitivity of 0.0952 μg cm2/0.001 absorbance unit. The proposed procedure was applied successfully for estimation of drug in different commercial forms. The proposed method was applied to the determination of the studied drug in pharmaceutical formulations and the results demonstrated that the method is equally accurate and precise as the official method as found from the t-and F-values.

Azo dye derivatives were prepared as corrosion inhibitors for mild steel in 1M H2SO4solution by weighting loss measurements as evaluation tools. It has been observed that inhibition efficiency orders are A1> A3> A2with the highest inhibiting efficiency of 82% for 10−3M. Increasing in inhibitor concentration accompanies with corrosion rate decreases, inhibition efficiencies increase and surface coverage degree increases. Semi-empirical molecular orbital calculations of prepared compounds A1, A2, and A3as molecular models gave useful information to predict the interaction between the surface of metal and the organic molecules as corrosion inhibitors

In the present work, we synthesized a series of metal complexes of Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II), Zn(II) and Au(III) from newly synthesized ligand 5-(4-Nitro Phenyl)-4-Amino-3-Mercapto Propenyl-1,2,4-Triazole (L) in alcoholic medium. These compounds were characterized by several techniques using FT-IR, UV-Visible spectrophotometer, thermal gravimetric TG analyses, magnetic susceptibility, Flame Atomic Absorption technique, elemental analysis and conductivity measurements. From the spectral studies, an octahedral monomer structure was proposed for all complexes except Cu(II) complex has dinuclear structure. The nature of the complexes formed in ethanolic solution has been studied following the molar ratio method and the result recorded 1:1 molar ratio for all complexes.Semi-empirical methods (ZINDO/1, ZINDO/S and PM3) were carried out to evaluate the heat of formation ∆H ̊f, binding energy ∆Eb, and dipole moment for all complexes expect Au(III) complex that used AMBER method, also the vibration frequencies and electronic transitions were calculated for prepared ligand to make comparison with experimental results. Electrostatic potential, HOMO and LUMO energies for ligand were calculated to determine the reactive sites of new ligand.

In present work we calculate the Level density Parameter (LDP) of 161-168Er and 204-210Bi isotopes deformated nuclei using collective enhancement including rotation ground state modes at neutron binding energy and obtained by equidistantand non equidistance method for each nucleus and compared the results with several methods and expermintal one

The present work,the plasma is simulated using particle model under the action of CO2laser by using power density 1015W per centemete2.The behavior of the plasma is studied in three electron density regions below the critical density. The time history of the total energy, kinetic energy, and the drift energy are studied at 0.9ncr, 0.95ncr,and 0.99ncr. The results indicated that the total energy of the system slightly increases at the first time steps after that time a rapid increase in the energy areobserved. The time evolution of the kinetic energy is studied, the results show that the plasma heating increases rapidly due to the acceleration of the plasma particles by the laser light. In this work the time history of the drift energy is plotted at each time step of the run

In this work, LR-115 solid state nuclear track detector used to measure the indoor and outdoor radon concentrations, the annual absorbed dose rate and annual effective dose rate to the lung, were measured in nine houses at different placesof Baghdad city, the observed values of indoor and outdoor radon concentrations was in range of 14.7-46.17 Bq/m3and 9.69–35.69 Bq/m3respectively. The resulting concentration of Short-lived radon daughters expressed in term of an equilibrium-equivalent radon concentration (EEC), the minimum and maximum indoor results of (EEC) was 5.88-18.46 Bq/m3and the outdoor results was 6.78-24.98 Bq/m3.The Potential Alpha Energy (PAE) concentration expressed in Working Level (WL) units was in the range of 1.58-4.99 mWL in indoor and 1.8-6.75 mWL in outdoor regions. The annual effective dose calculated according to the radiation weighting (WR) factor for alpha particles and the tissue weighting (WT) factor and the annual absorbed dose rate, the present results confirmed that the radon gas concentrations in all the nine places of Baghdad cityare lower than the International Commission Radiation Protection (ICRP) agency, recommended value (200Bq/m3)

Tap water differs from pure water, it contains more chemical contents arise in drinking water, it effect on health concern only after extended exposure of years, rather than months. The purpose of this article is to study the optical properties of tap water by using different power density from He-Ne laser beam transport through some samples. These samples of water mostly contain NaCl salts and clay .When we increasing concentration and sample length we can observed that decreasing transmittance ,(absorption and extinction) coefficients while the absorbance will be increased .At the 5 cm sample length we observed that tap water has transmittance about 17%, while NaCl (0.7)concentration has 58%,clay solute has 2%, and mixing from (0.7 NaCl and 0.15 clay) concentrations has transmittance 8%,The absorbance and absorption coefficient of tap water is greater than NaCl and less than clay alone and mixing (clay with salt) at the same sample length

Helicobacter pyloriis a bacterial infection of the stomach, which plays a major role in abdominal symptoms and gastroduodenal pathology. The pregnant women had a significantly higher relative risk of acquiring H.pyloriinfection during pregnancy as a result of physiological alterations. To investigate the relationship of H.pyloriwith dyspeptic symptoms in early and late pregnancy, thirty sera samples were obtained from pregnant women and thirty sera samples were obtained from apparently healthy women as control. All studied groups were evaluated anti-Helicobacter pyloriIgG antibody by ELISA. Ten of pregnant women samples (33.3%) were seropositive of anti-H. pyloriIgG antibody in pregnant women compared with control. This lead to suggest that H. pyloripositive may be related to nausea and vomiting in pregnant women

Lipopolysaccharide was extracted from invasive local isolate Klebsiellapneumonia previously isolated from neonate blood samples. LPS was extracted by phenol hot water method and partial purified by gel filtration chromatography on sepharose CL-6B gel. Theresults showed that the percentage of carbohydrate amount in the partially purified LPS extract was 9.5% while the percentage of protein in the same extract was 0.06% with no nucleic acids.Intravenous administration of(0.1and1)μg/kg of partial purified LPS in the rabbit led to increase body temperature in dose dependent manner (38.8°and40.2°)C respectively. Intraperitonial administration with the dose 10μg/mouse cause an increasein serum cytokine (IL-1α,IL-6and TNFα) level after 4 hr of the injection.Conclusion:LPS extracted from pathogenic isolate of K.pneumoniaewith high purity,hasimmunomodulator effect by increasing serum cytokine (IL-6 & IL-1α) level which play a role in the elevation of body temperature, and TNFα after 4hr ofintraperitonialadministration of LPS

In this study, the effects of three insecticides including:Fenvalerate,Thiacloprid and Fenoxycarb oneggparasitoid,Trichogrammaevanescenswere investigated.The toxicity of insecticide were tested using two laboratory tests: (a) direct spray on Ephestiacautellaeggs containing the parasitoid for effects on parasitism and emergence of the adult parasitoids (b) adult parasitoid exposure to dry insecticide films residue in glass vials. All insecticides were prepared according to the manufacturer’s recommendations for field application. Results showed that these insecticides varied in toxicity and have different degrees of effect regarding the emergence and parasitism of the parasitoid. Fenoxycarbwas non-toxic or low toxic to T. evanescenand did not affect immature stages development and adult emergence. Whereas, Fenvaleratewas highly noxious to the parasitoid and significantly reduced the percentage of emergence and parasitism of T.evanescensdeveloping in host eggs. The effects of Thiacloprid were slightly toxic to T. evanescens asit fell into the class 2 when parasitoids were directly exposed to chemical residues. While, Fenvalerate classified as moderately toxic and caused higher mortality than Fenoxycarband Thiaclopridin both glass surface residues and direct spray of host eggs. Therefore,obtained data provided useful data for implementing both chemical and biological control strategies in integrated pest management.

Escherichia coli O157:H7 is an important foodborne pathogen has been linked to foods of bovine origin and fresh produce.Rapid and sensitive identification of this dangerous pathogen is important for patient management and for prompt epidemiological investigations.This study aimed to detect Escherichia coliO157:H7 presence in samples from diarrhea patients, and food (imported beef and lettuce) and characterize by selective media, biochemical tests, latex agglutination test, and compared with PCR technique. during the period from September2012toFebruary 2013A total 120 samples were collected 50 from diarrhea patients and70 food samples including (45 imported beef and 25 lettuce)All samples were screened to detect the presence of non-sorbitol fermenting colonies (NSF) on sorbitol MacConkey agar supplemented with Cefixime (C-SMAC). A total of 120 isolates, 22 (44%) from diarrhea patients, 18 (40%) from meat and 9 (36%) from lettuce were non-sorbitol fermenting, E. coliisolates were serotyped as E. coli O157:H7 by latex agglutination test, 10(20%) isolates of diarrhea patients, 7 (15.5%) isolates of meat and 5 (20%) isolates of lettuce,Results of the genetic diagnosis using polymerase chain reaction(PCR)with specific primers (eaeA and rfbE genes) by MPCR revealed that 10(20%) isolates of diarrhea patients5 (11.1%)isolatefrom meatand 5(20 %) of lettuce samples were positive.

The effect of garlic powder on blood constituents in male rabbits was studied. These constituents were hemoglobin concentration, packed cell volume, red blood cell count, total and differential white blood cell count, platelets count and red cell indices. Fifteen male rabbits were randomly divided into three groups (five animals in each group). Two groups were supplied with pellets containing 1 and 5% garlic powder. The last group was considered as control and supplied with pellets and water. The period of experiment was lastedfor 21 days. The results showed that there was a significant (P≤0.05) increase in the means of hemoglobin concentration, packed cell volume, platelets count, total white blood cells count, lymphocytes count, neutrophils count and mean corpuscular hemoglobin concentration in the group treated with 5% garlic powder compared with control group, while, there was no significant differences in these mentioned parameters at the treated group with 1% garlic powder compared with control group. In addition, there was a significant (P≤0.05) increased in red blood cells count at 1% and 5% garlic powder compared with control group. On the other hand, there were no significant differences in the means of monocytes count, eosinophils count, basophils count, mean corpuscular hemoglobin and mean cell volume in the treated groups with 1% and 5% garlic powder compared with control group

It is aimed to investigate the effect of exposure of different magnetic fields (400, 800.1200 and 1600 Gauss for 2 to 24 hours) on the growth rate and antibiotic sensitivity of Staphylococcus aureus. The experiments were done in HawlerMedicalResearch Centre Erbil, Iraq. The bacteria were isolated from medical case in Rizgary hospital and identified using API STAPH system. The antibiotic susceptibility ofStaphylococcus aureus measured according to Kirby-Bauer disc diffusion technique.Results showed a significant decrease in the logarithm in the number of Staph. aureus(41.4 to 27 X 106) treated with high frequency magnetic field. Sensitivity of Staph.aureusto antibiotic increase during a short period (4-6 hours) and increase its resistance to same antibiotic at log term of exposure (18-24 hours). Some results of biochemical tests also showed positive effects of magnetic fields on the biochemical properties according to API STAPH results. The bacterial enzymes MAL (Maltose), LAC (Lactose), TRE (D-Trehalose), MAN (D-Mannitol), SAC (Sucrose) and NAG (N-acetyl-glucosamine) were affected by magnetic field at 24 hours of incubation.It is concluded that the cellular membrane of the microorganism had been affected by the magnetic field, also the response increased when the field intensity increased. So the magnetic field effects on bacteria are considered bactericidal, and hence,a change in the number of the cells per ml or the measured change in the membrane sensitivity to antibiotic demonstrated also the change in the internal structure of the cells.

This study was carried out to evaluate the antitumor effect of live attenuated measles virus Schwarz (MV) vaccine strain on tumor cell lines in vitro. Live attenuated measles virus Schwarz vaccine strain was obtained from Aventis Pasteur, France. Live attenuated measles virus Schwarz strain was propagated on Vero, human Rhabdomyosarcoma(RD) and human Glioblastoma-Multiform (GBM) cell lineswhich were supplied by Iraqi Center for Cancer and Medical Genetic Researches (ICCMGR). Results revealed that cellfusion occurred after 24 h of infection. The infected confluent monolayer appeared to be covered with syncytiawith granulation and vaculation of cells after 72 to 120 h. Moreover, the formation of large round empty plaque spaces was observed in infected cells. Results of oncolytic cytopathic effect showed that after 120 h of exposure alterations in morphology of Vero, RD and GBM cells. Cells were rounded, shrink, clustered cells and large empty space with cell debris as a result of cell lysis and death. Haemadsorption effect of MV was studied and result recorded that all cell lines infected with virus have the ability for haemadsorption human red blood cells after 72 h of infection. While uninfected cells gave negative results. Detection of MV H protein by monoclonal antibodies in infected cells of all cell lines by immunocytochemistry assay gave positive results (brown color) in cytoplasm of infected cells. Cell viability was measured after 72 hof infection by MTT assay.Results showed a significant cytotoxiceffect for measles virus (P ≤0.05) on growth of RD and GBM cell lines at the first dilution and the second one after 72 h of infection. When the dilution increases, there was a significant decline in the inhibitory effect with a significant cytotoxic effect as compared with the control. Also, concentrated inoculums of measles virus showed a significant cytotoxic effect when compared with the control.

A study was conducted to determine the prevalence of parasites in soil texture (loam) by using four techniques (salt floatation, zinc sulphate floatation, sedimentation and filter paper technique). During the period from December 2012 to May 2013, 70 soil samples were collected and analyzed from six various sites of Baghdad City such as (house garden, vicinity of house, vicinity of gutter, waste dumps, vegetable farm and hospital garden like Alyarmouk teaching hospital and Central teaching hospital of pediatric). The prevalence of soil parasites was as follows: Toxocaraspp. eggs isolated by two floatation techniques (salt and zinc floatation techniques), but this parasite appeared significant in its floatation by salt floatation technique (p= 0.042), while protozoan cysts appeared highly significant in zinc floatation technique (p= 0.00001). In addition, larvae of Strongloidesstercoralisshowed highly significance in sedimentation and filter paper technique (p=0.0001 and p= 0.001) respectively. Furtherly, female of Strongloidesstercoralisappeared significant in its isolation in sedimentation (p= 0.0463), Ascarislumbricoides(ova) showed highly significant in sedimentation technique (p= 0.0043). These results concluded that the Toxocaraspp. eggs more prevelant than other parasites in soil samples, and the soil may play an important role in transmission of zoonotic parasite diseases to human. In addition, the control of high population of animals such as stray dogs and cats is necessary to reduce the distribution of parasites

This study was carried out to evaluatethe enhanced effect of ZnO nanoparticles and a crude ethanolic extract of olive leaves upon the antibacterial activity of oxacillin against oxacillin resistant Staphylococcusaureus(ORSA) isolate from hospital environment. A positive and induced effect for ZnO nanoparticle was detected upon the antibacterial activity of the antibiotic through the increase in the diameter of the inhibition zone for the antibiotic as it recorded (15mm) for the mixed activity to the antibiotic with nanoparticles compared withthat of (10mm) for the zinc oxide nanoparticle a lone and the disappearance of the inhibition zone for the antibiotic alone.The antibacterial efficacy of the crude ethanolic olive leaf extract was evaluated alone or in combination with either oxacillin or zinc oxide nanoparticles against oxacillin resistant Staphylococcus aureususing disc diffusion method.The results revealed that olive leaf extracts (2.25-9 mg/disc) neither exhibited antibacterial activity when used alone, nor potentiated the antibacterial activity of zinc oxide nanoparticles (100μg/disc) when used in combination. However, in the presence of the highest concentration of olive leaf extract (9mg/disc), the antibacterial activity of oxacillin (1μg/disc) (as a diameter of inhibition zone) increased from zero mm to a maximum of 14 mm, suggesting a potentiation of the antimicrobial activity of oxacillin against the already existing oxacillin-resistant strain of Staphylococcus aureus

This study was designed to investigate the effect of partially purified polysaccharide extracted from ArthrobacterB1 on the DNA banding pattern of HepG2 tumor cell line invitro. The polysaccharide was extracted from Arthrobacter B1using phenol sulfuric acid methodwith a recovery yield of 181mg. Partial purification of polysaccharide was performed by using sepharose Cl-6B gel filtration chromatography and two peaks were obtained. Chemical analysis involving the estimation of carbohydrate and protein contents which showed that the large first peak contained the higher carbohydrate contents (30.1%) as compared with the crude polysaccharide 15.9% with low protein constituents (5.7%).The effect of ArthrobacterB1polysaccharide on HepG2 tumor cells was examined by studying whether bacterial polysaccharide participating in affecting the structure of tumor cell’s DNA or not. Results indicated that only intact nucleosomal DNA bands were separated on the gel for the untreated cells as compared with the banding pattern of the colchicine treated DNA, in which besides to intact nucleosomal DNA, mononucleosomes, dinucleosomes and oligonucleosomes were separated on the gel following electrophoresis process. Such pattern does not affected by the gradual increase in MNase concentration. On the other hand, the DNA banding pattern for the cells treated with ArthrobacterB1 polysaccharide showed significant effect by the separation of nucleosomal DNA, in which mononucleosomes, dinucleosomes and oligonucleosomes were clearly separated from intact nucleosomal DNA, and such effect was markedly appeared by increasing the concentration of MNase ascompared with the cells treated colchicine.

In this paper, we introduce two types of cancellation modules namely fully cancellation and naturally cancellation. Some characterizations of these concepts are given and some properties of these concepts in the class of multiplication modules are presented. Also the direct sum of fully cancellation module and the behaviour of fully cancellation (naturally cancellation) are discussed

In this paper, we use the second kind Chebyshev wavelet operational matrix of fractional integration for solving fractional order linear partial differential equations.By using this method the fractional order partial differential equation is translated intoLyapunov type matrix equation and the computation effort become convenient. Two illustrative examples are provided to demonstrate the validity, simplicity and applicability of the numerical scheme based on the Chebyshev set of functions

Owning to the huge amounts of data collected in database, cluster analysis has recently become a highly active topic in data mining research. In data mining, efforts have focused on finding methods for efficient and effective cluster analysis in large database.This paper proposes two new partitioning cluster methods, first is modified k-mean clustering algorithm with variable Neighborhood Search as a metaheuristic search and the second is modified k-mean clustering algorithm with cuckoo search as swarm intelligence.The proposed algorithms does not need to enter the value of cluster points, instead of that it finds it automaticallyto get the best clustering using the clustering validity. This represents its fundamental characteristic.The experiments were made on a many different sizes of databases some of the obtained from University of California (UC) Irvine Machine Learning Repository which maintain 246 data sets as a service to the machine learning community.From these experiments, it is concluded that these methods reduced the time which needed to get the best solution as a half time which needed to perform same actions and inthe same time it reduced the iterations to get the best solution. In addition, these proposed clustering methods give best quality (as performance) compared with other clustering methods; the performance was improved between (10% -20%) compared with the original k-mean clustering method

This paper presents face recognition from front face. The idea is to extract the facial profile from a frontal view to provide a measurement for automatic face recognition. The profile is derived from the intensity of horizontal projection of the face image and using profile measure such χ2distance for face identification. Three profile projections from 4 images or more are taken for each person, averagevalues are calculated and stored in a database file.
