Abstract
Newmetalcomplexesoftheligand2-hydroxy-4-NitrophenylpiperonalidenewiththemetalionsV(IV),Co(II),Rh(III),Pd(II),Cu(II)andCd(II)werepreparedinethanolicmedium.ThepreparedcomplexeswerecharacterizedbyFT-IR,Uv-Visspectroscopy,metalanalysis,magneticsusceptibilityandconductivitymeasurements.Thenatureofthecomplexesformedinethanolicsolutionwasstudiedfollowingthemolarratiomethod.Fromthespectralstudies,monomerstructuresfortheV(IV),Co(II)andCd(II)complexesanddimericstructuresfortheothercomplexeswereproposed.TheproposedgeometryforpreparedcomplexeswasOchtahedralforCo(II)andRh(III)complexes,squareplanerforPd(II)andCu(II)complexes,squarepyramidalforV(IV)complexandtetrahedralforCd(II)complex.StructuralgeometriesofthesecompoundswerealsosuggestedingasphasebyusingHyperChem-8programforthemolecularmechanicsandsemi-empiricalcalculations.TheHfandEbforthepreparedcompoundswerecalculatedbyusingPM3method.AlsoPM3wasusedtoevaluatethevibrationspectrafortheSchiffbaseandstartingmaterial.Preliminaryinvitrotestsforantimicrobialactivityshowsthatmostofthepreparedcompoundsdisplaygoodactivityto (S.aureus), (E.coli)and(C.albicans)
