Abstract
Social networking is a relatively new concept in global societies. The technological advancements of the mid-1990s brought about a qualitative shift and a real revolution in the world of communication. The Internet spread worldwide, connecting vast regions of the globe, paving the way for societies to meet, interact, exchange opinions, ideas, and desires. Every user of this network benefited from the multimedia available in it, making it the best means for communication between individuals and groups, personal websites, and chat networks. These platforms have transformed the content and format of modern media and created a unique form of interaction between content creators and users as well as among users themselves.
These websites include search engines, web portals, free references, blogs, news websites, electronic newspapers, satellite channel websites, and YouTube. Social networking sites like Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, Live Boon, Hi Five, Orkut, Tagged, "I Like," YouTube, and others have emerged, enabling features like video and image sharing, file sharing, and instant messaging, facilitating direct communication and interaction among users.
This topic of research was chosen due to its significance in contemporary society, and the aim is to adapt it from an Islamic jurisprudential perspective. The challenge was the scarcity of contemporary jurisprudential writings that address this topic, except for some religious edicts (fatwas) from our religious authorities. This study aims to provide an objective and serious examination of the subject.
The research methodology involves defining the aforementioned terms and well-known types of social networks. The study concludes with its findings, hoping for its success with the guidance of the Almighty.
