The current research aims to identify (measuring literary criticism skills among students in Arabic language departments)
In her research, the researcher followed the descriptive approach to determine the current research population of students in the Arabic language departments from the two stages (third and fourth stages) in the colleges of education at the University of Basra for the academic year (2023-2024). The researcher chose her research sample in a random way for all of them, their number reached (180) male and female students, and the researcher prepared a tool. For the research, it is a test to measure literary criticism skills, consisting of (30) items. The test was applied to the research sample and using statistical methods in order to know the objectives set by the researcher through the results of the research.
The results of the research revealed that the research sample had a weakness in literary criticism skills, and in order to achieve the second goal, the researcher calculated the results according to the variable of the academic stage. The results were in favor of the fourth stage because they obtained a higher percentage than the third stage in the test of literary criticism skills….
In light of the results of the current research, the researcher concluded a number of conclusions, including:
The stagnation of the subject of literary criticism led to students’ aversion to it, which helped to weaken their level in the subject of literary criticism, which requires diversity in teaching methods and methods, involving students in the teaching process, and making them the important and basic focus of the educational process…
