تُعتبر التغطية الإخبارية من أهم الصناعات، لارتباطها بالحياة والمستقبل وكل شيء، كما تُعتبر من الركائز الأساسية في صناعة الأخبار للمؤسسات الإعلامية خلال الأزمات، ولذلك فإن التصبغ السياسي الذي عانت منه هذه المؤسسات هو نتيجة حتمية لما يعانيه العالم، وخاصة دول العالم الثالث، من أزمات وكوارث، فأصبحت خصوصية المؤسسات الإعلامية في تغطيتها الإخبارية أمرًا حتميًا، مما منحها أهمية كبيرة تتمثل في عملية اختيار الأخبار التلفزيونية، والتفريق بينها، وبثها. ولذلك، اهتمت جميع المؤسسات الإعلامية، وكثرتها، بالجانب السياسي نظرًا لكثرة الأخبار وتعقدها، ولكثرة متلقيها لسرعة انتشارها وأهميتها واختلافها.
