Abstract
The sacred Muhammadan Sharia has lofty aims and objectives, foremost
among which is guiding the children of Adam to human perfection and
returning to the path commanded by God, the Almighty, as He says: “Indeed,
we belong to God, and indeed, to Him we shall return.” For this purpose, it has
established clear paths and methods, including adherence to the two weighty
things: the Noble Qur’an and the guiding progeny, may God’s prayers be
upon them, as stated in the widely transmitted Hadith about the two weighty
things. Among these are also those mentioned in the honorable Ziyarat.
Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) is the great and swift ship of salvation,
according to the honorable hadiths. Indeed, he (peace be upon him) is the
ship of perfection. It is mentioned in the honorable tradition: “Hussein (peace
be upon him) said, ‘I entered upon my grandfather, and Ubayy ibn Ka’b was
with him. He said to me, “Welcome, O ornament of the heavens and the
earth.” My father said, “How can anyone other than you be their ornament?”
He (peace be upon him and his family) said, “By Him who sent me with the
truth, he is greater in the heavens than he is on the earth, and he is written on
the right of the Throne, and he is a lamp of guidance and a ship of salvation.”
The moral values in the Ashura Revolution of Hussein (peace be
upon him) were diverse, reflecting the diverse goals achieved after his
martyrdom (peace be upon him). In addition to being a revolution for
freedom and liberation, it was also a revolution for spiritual and moral
education and self-development, a special revolution to build a society
that is integrated in all aspects. These lessons were embodied in more than
one situation in this tremendous revolution, the principles of which were
firmly rooted in the minds and hearts of the lovers of Hussein (peace be upon him), including the Arba’een Pilgrimage. This visit, like other rituals,
has transformative effects. It improves the living standards of pilgrims in
this world, grants them forgiveness and pardon for their sins, and rewards
in this world and the hereafter. Pilgrims also seek healing from illness,
protection for their property and children, and the fulfillment of their
personal wishes. Visiting the grave of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him)
on the fortieth day brings moral values of exhortation and reform, spiritual
gains, and intellectual and moral benefits unmatched by any visit to any
other shrine or tomb. Hence, Imam al-Sadiq (peace be upon him) said:
“Whoever visits al-Husayn (peace be upon him) with recognition of his
right, it is as if he has visited God on His throne.
What are the roles and responsibilities undertaken by various segments
of society during such pilgrimages, especially the Arbaeen pilgrimage?
1-Encouraging cultural awareness and stimulating cultural activities
in universities, institutes, and other student gatherings, through book
fairs, plays, hymns, art exhibitions, establishing mobile radio stations,
and broadcasting humanitarian and guidance messages to promote all the
values for which al-Husayn (peace be upon him) was martyred.
2-Utilizing social media on the internet, as well as various virtual forums,
to convey youthful enthusiasm, the values of sound moral development,
and authentic beliefs to others.
3-Encouraging the practice of giving, humanitarian work, and volunteer
work among young people, in order to build a spirit of sacrifice and solidarity,
especially in serving the pilgrims of Imam al-Husayn (peace be upon him).
4- Holding youth conferences and forums to discuss youth issues and
foster a spirit of enthusiasm for development, progress, and building a
sense of cultural responsibility, under the sponsorship and participation of
religious seminaries, civil society organizations, and social organizations
