In its essence, the oath represents an authoritative argument that summons the "object of the oath" as a witness to truth and a reinforcer of credibility, thereby constructing an ascending argumentative scale that places the conclusion—or the "subject of the oath"—at the highest level of certainty and affirmation.
The effectiveness of this style is manifested in its ability to mentally guide the recipient by linking metaphysical or abstract truths to tangible cosmic or existential realities, which narrows the scope for counter-interpretations and closes the avenues of objection. The oath does not merely emphasize the content of the sentence; rather, it charges it with a performative energy that imposes a form of cognitive and emotional commitment on the listener toward the issue at hand. Abstract
يتمثل أثر أسلوب القَسَم في التوجيه الحجاجي في كونه قوة دفع استدلالية تحول مسار الخطاب من مجرد الإخبار إلى مرحلة الإقناع والإذعان، إذ يعمل القَسَم كآلية لرفع درجة المقبولية لدى المتلقي لا سيما في مواقف الشك أو الإنكار، فالقَسَم في جوهره يمثل حجة تدفع باتجاه إقناع المخاطب وتستدعي لذلك المقسم به كشاهد صدق ومعزز للمصداقية مما يساهم في بناء توجيهي تصاعدي يضع النتيجة أو جواب القَسَم في أعلى درجات التقرير واليقين .
وتتجلى فاعلية هذا الأسلوب في مقدرته على توجيه المتلقي ذهنياً عبر ربط الحقيقة الغيبية أو المجردة بحقائق كونية أو وجودية ملموسة مما يضيق الخناق على التأويلات المضادة ويغلق منافذ الاعتراض، فالقَسَم لا يكتفي بتأكيد مضمون الجملة بل يشحنها بطاقة إنجازية تفرض على السامع نوعاً من الالتزام المعرفي والوجداني تجاه القضية المطروحة وبذلك يتحول القَسَم من مجرد تركيب لغوي إلى استراتيجية خطابية متكاملة تهدف إلى تعديل معتقدات المخاطب وتوجيه سلوكه نحو الاستجابة بما يتفق مع غايات المتكلم وقصديته الحجاجية .
