God created man to be His vicegerent on Earth and entrusted him with momentous responsibilities—burdens that the mountains themselves refused to bear, shrinking away from the task in trepidation. It was fitting that man be honored for shouldering this immense responsibility by being appointed God’s vicegerent; a key aspect of this honor lies in his being endowed with the power of choice—and choice implies freedom. In tandem with the duties man assumed as God’s vicegerent on Earth—as explicitly established by the "Verse of Vicegerency"—God granted him rights. Undoubtedly, these rights are framed within the context of Islamic Sharia, which serves as the fundamental system of life for all creation. It is the responsibility of the Islamic ruler to safeguard these rights, to afford individuals the opportunity to secure their freedoms, and to ensure they obtain their rights in full, without diminution. Hence the importance of emphasizing the principles of political and judicial rights.
