The antioxidant and anti-tumor effects of extracts from various herbs and medicinal plants were measured using various in vitro and in vivo methods. The current study investigates and compare the anticancer effects of the two palm part extracts against cancer cell line in cultured cell line of AMN3, Hela and Ref. The results showed a concentration dependent inhibitory cytotoxic effects during 72 hrs of exposure for methanolic and oily crude extracts of date and leaves on AMN3, Hela and Ref cell lines. The highest significant effect of both dry date and leave methanolic extracts were achieved at concentration 2500 μg/ ml that causing highest growth inhibition percentage (GIP) of (73.3 %, 66.4%) for AMN3 and (76.7 %, 55.4%) for Hela respectively. The concentration 5000 μg/ ml showed nearly less effect after 72 hrs exposure. Both methanolic extracts tested concentrations didn’t cause any inhibitory effect on the REF cell line. The effect of date and leaves oily extracts at different concentrations caused on tumor Cell Line AMN3, Hela and Ref highly significant in difference at exposure periods 72 hrs for concentrations gradient ranged from (15.62- 250 μg/ml). The concentration 125 µg/ml showed higher inhibition percentage compared to the higher concentration of 2500 µg/ ml causing on AMN3 (85.1%, 66%), Hela (79.1%, 77%), and Ref (76%, 61.7%), respectively. Plateau were noticed for all highest palm extracts concentrations GIP effect on all cell line cultures. The study concluded that the superiority of oil extract for both date and leave over alcoholic extracts one in inhibition of in vitro the same cell lines AMN3, Hela, Ref.

Haematopoiesis is very complicated process of formation, development, and differentiation of bone marrow cells and its evaluation is very valuable diagnostic tool for the veterinary practitioner. So, the aim of study is to evaluate the healthy bone marrow cytology during first three months old. Ninety pups were involved throughout the study according to study design. Growing pups were kept with their moms till the weaning day, then divided into three main groups (1, 2, and 3 months old). After reaching the appropriate study age, bone marrow samples were obtained, and bone marrow smears were carried out and stained with MGGS. The results revealed presence of all types of haematopoietic cells and there are increase in different erythroid progenitor and myeloid progenitor with the age progress. Furthermore, the smears showed different cell line production with different differentiation stages of both erythroid and myeloid cells. In conclusion the bone marrow cells differentiation and proliferation are related to age progress independently. Haematopoietic cells differentiation and proliferation are regulated by bone marrow microenvironment. Myeloid cells are directly related to age progress.

The present study was conducted in the Al-Najaf slaughterhouse, during the period from November 2020 to March 2021, were collected 200 specimens of infected liver and lungs of sheep and cattle. The objective of the study is to investigate the number of hydatid cyst infections in cattle and sheep to investigate the macroscopic and microscopic characteristics, number and size of cysts in each lung and liver, comparison between the thickness of cysts wall in the liver of sheep and cattle infested with echinococcosis. The results of the macroscopic study showed the total number of cysts found in the liver of slaughtered sheep was 673 in different size groups while in the lung of slaughtered sheep, the total number of cysts was 216 cysts in different size groups. The examination of the lung of infected cattle during the period of our study revered no cystic lesions in the study while the total number of cysts found in the liver of slaughtered cattle was 158 in different group sizes, almost 50 % of the size of the hydatid cyst in the sheep liver is between 1-3 cm, while in cattle is between 3-5 cm. The microscopic investigation of the liver and lung specimens stained with hematoxylin and eosin stain and another stain was used in this study to evaluate the fibrous tissue proliferation via Masson's trichrome stain. showed there were features of chronic inflammation in hepatic tissue of infested sheep and cattle by cystic echinococcosis represented by marginal fibrous tissue layer surrounding the hydatid cyst, infiltration of mononuclear cells, eosinophils, neutrophils, macrophages, and fibrocytes. The main conclusions of the study revealed that there were significant differences between the thickness of germinativum, laminated and adventitial layers of hydatid cysts in different size groups, and no hydatid cysts were recognized in the lung of slaughtered cattle during the study period.

This study was designed in order to investigate and determine the effect of black current (Prunus cerasus) extract on semen membrane and acrosome integrity of the rams. Twelve mature healthy rams were used in this study aged between 2-3 years, kept in the animal farm of the College of Veterinary Medicine, Al-Kufa University. Semen ejaculates was collected using electro-ejaculator methods once weekly a total of 36 ejaculates were collected among the period of the study. The black current (Prunus cerasus) extract was prepared by using maceration and added to the diluted semen in five doses groups (0.25 gm/ml as G1, 0.5 gm/ml as G2, 1 gm/ml as G3, 2 gm/ml as G4, 4 gm/ml as G5) and the positive control group left without any addition. The treatment samples were evaluated under cooling for five consecutive days, the membrane integrity test was evaluated using hypo-osmotic solution and acrosome integrity was analysis using semen smear stained with eosin–nigrosin stain. The result showed that high concentration of aqueous plant extract give negative result as listed in G3, G4 and G5 in the all preservation days. As found in acrosome integrity at the 5thday of incubation showed decreased at highly significantly sequentially. We conclude that the G1 and G2 of black current extract (Prunus cerasus) should be used in chilling process as a part of artificial insemination in sheep due to its protective effect of the membrane and acrosome integrity.

This study was carried out to investigate the effect of acarbose or combination of acarbose and Oleuropein (OLEU) on glycemic index and antioxidant status of male rats exposed to high fructose(40%) and 0.05% hydrogen peroxide H2O2 Thirty-two adult male rats were randomly divided into four equal groups: control group (CC); T1( HFr-H2O2) group were exposed to high fructose (40%) in drinking water and given orally 0.05% H2O2; T2: 30mg/kg of acarbose were given orally to HF-H2O2 treated rats, while combination of acarbose and Oleuropein (50mg/kg. B.W) were given orally to (HFr-H2O2) treated rats in group T3. Blood samples were taken at zero time and after two months of the experiment for measuring some parameters related to glycemic index and antioxidant status. The results declared an elevation in the glycemic index (insulin and glucose concentrations and insulin resistance (IR)) and malondialdehyde (MDA) and depression in glutathione (GSH) concentrations in T1 group at the end of experiment comparing to other treated groups. Antioxidant status and glycemic index were restored after acarbose or combination of acarbose and Oleuropein treatment characterized by significant depression of serum glucose, insulin concentrations and IR, and alleviation of oxidative stress clarified by depression of serum MDA with elevation in serum GSH concentration in groups T2 and T3. On conclusion, the current study documented the oxidative and hyperglycemic effect of fructose and H2O2 that can be ameliorating by oral administration of acarbose. Besides, combination of OLUE supplement with acarbose possessed additive effects.
