Anatomical and Palynological Study of Myrtus communis L.

Abstract

This study detailed the properties of epidermis, leaf transverse sections, petioles and stems of the genus Myrtus communis L. belong the Myrtaceae family. It was clear that the particular anatomical characteristic were noteworthy and very important of this species, like as the multilayered cortex rich of wide idioblasts and taniniferous cells and the cells are a lot of druses crystals, oil pits situated close to both surfaces and unicellular hairs, likewise druses crystals are extremely regular in this species in the epidermis and cortex of leaf, petiole and stem too. The leaf blade has increase in cuticle thickness due to that epidermis waxen in this species.The pollen morphology of this species was elliptical in equatorial side and triangular in polar side also the apertures were tricolporate, mostly syncolpate also the pollen grain narrow colpi.

Abstract

Micromorphology of leaf epidermis, and pollen grain of Convolvulus arvensis L., Convolvulus pilosellifolium Desr., Cressa cretica L., and Cuscuta spp (Convolvulaceae) were investigated under scanning electron microscope(SEM), cuticle layer appeared as crossing or parallel filament zones, epidermis cells unequal in shape and size, mostly the cells of the adaxial are larger than the abaxial epidermis. Paracytic stomata occurring in both side except genus Cressa cretica no stomata in adaxial side, C. pilosellifolium has two types of trichomes appeared on abaxial side, unicellular and peltate glandular trichomes. pollen grains of all studied taxa were monad, radial symmetry and isopolar. The pollen grains generally were tricolporate, small to medium in size, The shape were prolate, micro reticulate sculpturing

Abstract

Overall this paper to investigate the relation Homocysteine (Hcy), WBC, and Hemoglobin with Leukemia (Blood cancer) disease.Studies of Iraqi men in Tikrit Hospital. Leukemia and is characterized by an abnormal proliferation of blood cells, white blood cells (leukocytes). Objectives: To investigate homocysteine levels in Leukemia disease and its relationship with White blood cells(WBC) and Hemoglobin (Hb)( repeated).Methods: This investigation performed as a case control study for two groups as 40 Leukemia patients and 25 as a control. Patients for two group in Tikrit-Iraq. Leukemia patients were selected based on the criteria of the American Psychological Association. plasma homocysteine level were measured by HPLC method at UV detector 338nm WBC and Hb were measured by method Manual blood count Hemacytometer is a counting chamber according to WHO. Results: 40 Patients in group1 plasma Homocysteine was 21.15±8.9 μmol/L, but in control group plasma Homocysteine was 12.00±4.33 (p=0.83). The average plasma homocysteine level in the group 2 of patients was 10.56±3.99μmol/L, Homocysteine in the control group 2 was 28.11±9.75μmol/l, (p=0.78). Conclusion: The average plasma homocysteine level in Leukemia patients was higher than in the control group; however, it shows a significant relationship with the WBC and Hb.

Abstract

Nano particles powders of SnO2 and Sn1-xNixO2 (x = 0.10 and 0.15) used in this study are synthesized by sol-gel method. The prepared powders were annealed at 400℃ and 700℃, then characterized their x-ray structure, FTIR and SEM. From, the structural study their grain size by Debye-Scherrer and Williamson-Hall equations, lattice parameters, unit cell volume ,crystal density, internal strain, dislocations density, surface area , and number of unit cells were calculated for different annealing temperatures as well as for doping variations. Single-phase of SnO2 tetragonal structure is confirmed from a very small variation of structural parameters with annealing temperature. Spherical particles in the nanoscale level, with the size increasing as annealing temperature increase and decrease with doping percentage increase at the same temperature are observed from XRD results. While FTIR study revealed the distortion of the SnO2 octahedron. Scanning electron microscopy SEM revealed a morphology of fully dense of SnO2 and that doped samples at 15% which annealed at 400ºC and 700ºC. While energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy EDX presented the percentages of Sn, Ni and minor oxygen concentration.

Abstract

In this study, thirty Budgerigars (Melopsittacus undulatus) with Knemidocoptes pilae infection were treated with three ointments in different concentrations prepared from Calvatia craniiformis mushroom in comparison with common antiparasitic drug promectine locally. Each concentration (0.12.5, 0. 25 and 0.5)% was applied to 5 Budgerigars from the first group each 72 hours at 12 days intervals. Also the promectine was injected subcutaneously twice to 15 Budgerigars(second group) at 12 intervals. Clinical signs in all birds of both groups disappeared at 13-35 days after treatment. The 0.5% was significantly different at (p <0.05) from other concentrations when compared with promectine. No side effects were seen.

Abstract

Brucellosis is considered as one of the most important infectious diseases. This disease caused by different species of Brucella. The main source of human brucellosis are dairy products , especially cheese made from unpasteurized raw milk. The aim of this study was to investigate the prevalence of Brucella spp. From locally produced cheese “Gibin Al-Arab” made from unpasteurized milk in Baquba city. For this purpose, a total of fifty cheese sample was collected from street shops of the old town in Baquba, from May 2015 till September 2015. Conventional culture method has been used in the isolation. Brucella spp. has been detected at the rates of 12% and were distributed in to two species, B. melitensis 8%, the rest were identified as B. abortus at rate of 4%, Consequently It has been accepted that fresh cheese “Gibin Al-Arab” samples are contaminated with B. abortus and B. melitensis . Abstract

This study was conducted on 44 Awassi ewes (40 days postpartum period) from Nov. 2014 – July 2015, their ages ranged from 2-4 years old in farm animals of Al-Musiab technical institute/Al-Forat aAl-Awsat University –Babylon province. These animal were divided randomly in to equal 4 groups (11 ewes/groups) dependent on the type of the treatment, 1st group treated by one gm vitamin C daily/orally for 20 days, 2nd group treated by one gm of vitamin B-complex/orally for 20 days, 3rd treaded with mixed one gm vitamin c + one gm vitamin B-complex in the same dose one (gm daily /orally for 20 days also, but the 4th group represented control group (Untreated). All experimented animals exposed to fertile rams (3rams aged 2-4 years) daily after ceased treatment. The response for different treatment (estrous showing) was recorded highly significant different(p<0.01) for 3rd groups (90.9) compared with other groups while the duration of response was 10.26±3.14 days, 16.52±2.,36, 8.24±3.21 and 66.47±11.54 in the 1st,2nd, 3rd and 4th groups respectively with highly significant difference (p<0.01) of 1st and 3rd groups compared with 2nd and 4th groups but the pregnancy rate was recorded 100% in 3rd groups and 87.5%, 85.7% and 87.5% in the 1st,2nd ,4th groups respectively, while the twining rate in the treated groups was recorded highly significant differences( p<0.01) compared with control groups. Abstract

Rubella is an acute viral disease that its pathogenesis is usually mild and self-limiting. The importance of this disease its complications for fetus during pregnancy represented by congenital rubella syndrome (CRS). The present study was conducted for the period from first of November of 2014 to 30th August of 2015 in AL- Khalis province in Diyala governorate in Iraq. The study aimed to determining the rate of Rubella-specific IgM and IgG antibodies in women who get marriage. The study included 150 women who get marriage. The mean age was 22± 4.6 years (13-49). Demographic information on women regarding age, residence and level of education were collected from their women. Serum specimens were collected for each woman. Detection of Rubella-specific IgM and IgG was done by Enzyme Linked Immune Sorbent assay (ELISA) test. The results of the present study showed that the 42 women (28%) were anti-RV IgG positive and 108 (72%) were anti-RV IgG negative. While, only 13 women (8.7%) were anti-RV IgM positive and 137(91.3%) were anti-RV IgM negative. There was significant correlation in seropositivity of RV between age group (20-29) years (27%) for anti-RV IgG and (10%) for anti-RV IgM with other age groups. The results revealed insignificantly correlation between urban and rural residence, (33.3%) for anti-RV IgG and (9.5%) for anti-RV IgM. Significant correlation positivity was reported (95.2%) of women for anti-RV IgG and (23.8%) for anti-RV IgM in women with primary school of level of education. In conclusion, am recommended that working similar studies need to be done in

Abstract

This study was carried out at the Al-Nasiriyah Centre for Endocrinology and Diabetes for the period from 10th October 2013 to 3rd September 2014. It was conducted to determine the causal factors of diabetes mellitus type II at Thi-Qar province south of Iraq. The results showed that the incidence of diabetes was high among females (54%). The results also showed that the highest rate (30%) of the diabetes among age group 49-59 years that they have symptoms of diabetes but they have not a history of diabetes (51%). The highest incidence of diabetes was among smoker patients (64%), that the distribution of diabetes among urban was high (62%) than rural (38%). In addition, pathogenic bacteria were isolated from diabetic patients from different infectious sites such as urinary tract, wound and respiratory tract infections. Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus and Klebsiella pneumoniae were isolated at high percentage respectively, while the most bacterial isolates showed resistance to Ampicillin and Amoxycillin, but other isolates showed sensitive to Amikacin, Cefotaxime, Azithromycin and Cefixime. The results from published reports as well as our data suggest that good control of blood sugar in diabetic patients is a necessary aim to prevent of certain infections and to ensure maintenance of normal host defence

Abstract

Climatic change is one of the most important topics at the world. Temperature plays a major role in detecting climate change. The aim’s study is determining the spatial and temporal variation of the temperature through the period of about 72 years (1941 - 2013). The researcher choose (Mosul, Baghdad, Basra) stations to represent all of Iraq area. The study adopted the analysis method, and then determines the trend of temperature. It turned out. Through, the study that the world temperature tends to increase, which turned out to that it is better to divide the study period into two stages. To illustrate the extent, of the existence of differences, it has been turned out there is an increase in temperature, but the increase in the first period (1941 - 1976). Was less than a second term (1977 - 2013), there are also increasing in temperatures less direction from southern Iraq to the north.

Abstract

Coca cola consumption is widely distributed in recent years, therefore the study aimed to detect the side effects of coca cola intake on urinary crystals formation and some blood biochemical parameters including serum total calcium, ionized calcium, phosphorus ,uric acid and albumin. Blood and urine samples were collected from healthy volunteers who are divided into three groups :group 1 who drink 1 can (200ml) coca cola daily. Group 2 who drink 2 can or more (400ml) coca cola daily. These results compared with control( group 3) who didn't drink soft beverages . All parameters were determined in blood samples using spectrophotometer while urine samples examined under microscope. The results revealed significant (p<0.01 ) increase in serum phosphorus ,albumin and uric acid in group 1and 2 compared to control group and significant decrease in serum total, corrected and ionized calcium in group 2 compared to control group. When compare between group1 and 2 the results revealed significant differences in serum total ,corrected ,ionized calcium and uric acid .Urine examination results appeared 39.1% of uric acid crystal and 30.4 % of amorphous urate crystals in group 1 while in group 2 drinking coca cola contribute to increased combined crystal formation which recorded uric acid with amorphus urate crystals 30% followed 15% of each Calcium oxalate with triple phosphate and Uric acid with triple phosphate.

Abstract

Alkaloids extraction from Isatis tinctoria inhibited H22 cell line (hepatic cell line ) proliferation by inducing mitotic index at the metaphase/ anaphase boundary. Half-maximal inhibition of cell proliferation occurred at 8 nM alkaloids, and mitosis was half-maximally block 8 nM alkaloids. Formation of an incomplete metaphase plate of chromosomes was associated with inhibition of mitosis and an altered arrangement of spindle microtubules that strongly resembled the organization abnormal that occurs with little concentrations of alkaloids extraction of plant and other antimitotic compounds. No increase in spindle microtubule occurred below 10 nM alkaloids extract. The results indicate that alkaloids shares a common antiproliferative mechanism with extraction alkaloids . The mass of spindle microtubules increased half-maximally at 80 nM alkaloids and attained maximal levels at 33 nM alkaloids extract .At submicromolar concentrations, bovine brain tubulin in a manner that resemble suppression suppressed growing and shortening by extract alkaloids for Isatis tinctoria at the ends of microtubules reassembled in vitro. The alkaloids was concentrated in H22 cells several hundredfold. At its lowest effective concentrations, alkaloids appears to block mitosis by stabilizing spindle microtubules kinetically and not by changing the mass of microtubules polymerized.

Abstract

This study included Isolation and identification of Proteus mrabilis , Salmonella Spp and Morganella morganii Causes Diarrhea in (215) samples for patients sufferers symptoms of Diarrhea. Period from 1\10\2014 to 30\1\2015, and used MacConkey agar and blood agar for the cultivation of these samples. The results refer that 65 isolates are belonging to bacteria of Enterobacteriaceae 13 (20 %) Proteus mirabilis and 3(4.6%)Morganella morganii 2(3.1%) Salmonella Spp by using diagnostic phenotypic ,biochemical tests and confirm the diagnosis by using system Vitek2.investigation results of some virulence factors showed isolates of Proteus mirabilis produce of haemolysin (92.3%) ,while Salmonella Spp and Morganella morganii have not ability to produce this enzyme.The results showed that all isolates of Salmonella Spp and Morganella morganii were produced protease by (100%)(50%) while Proteus mirabilis have not ability to produce this enzyme. The results showed Isolates of Proteus mirabilis showed highest resistance rate (76.9%) for Ampicillin while isolates of Salmonella Spp highest resistance rate (100%) for Cephalothin, Cefotaxime and Ampicillin , while isolates of Morganella morganii showed highest resistance rate %100 for Trimethoprime , Ampicillin , Cephalothin , Nalidixic acid , Piperacilli . Abstract

In this research the design and construction of dielectric barrier discharge system was done. It consist of two cylindrical electrode made of cupper with diameter (50 mm), the electrode was surrounding by Teflon with thickness (10 mm). The two electrodes were fixed such that one of them can be moved vertically to change the distance between the electrodes. The two electrodes were connected to high power Ac voltage. One of the electrodes was covered by dielectric material; however, we used two kind of dialectic (glass and Teflon) with thickness (1, 2, 3) mm. The electrical characteristic of the system were studied from (I - V) curves by changing gap distance , thickness of dielectric, frequency of the applied voltage kind of the dielectric distance, thickness of the dielectric and the frequency. Also, the breakdown voltage of the system was studied with gap distance and thickness of the dielectric, it is observed that increases the breakdown voltage with increasing gap distance and thickness of the dielectric. It is found that decreasing the discharge current when the Teflon is used as a dielectric sheet instead of glass, while increasing of the breakdown voltage.

Abstract

A new transition metal complexes of Hg+2, Cd+2 of Schiff bases derived of two drugs
"Benzocaine, Isoniazid" were synthesized with molarity ratio (1:2) M:L. The synthesized
compounds were characterized by physical and spectroscopic measurements (IR spectrum and
proton NMR spectrum, elemental analysis C.H.N, Molar conductivity). The complexes which
synthesized by reaction the derived ligand of Benzocaine with metal salts formed tetracoordinate

Abstract

The effect of different concentration of crude oil had been examined upon Oscillatoria chlorina, it was depended upon measuring Growth rate as optical density, Chlorophyll, Phycocyanin and Protein concentration as an Physiological activities indicator of crude oil effects on Oscillatoria chlorina, in addition to morphological changes. The growth optical density in the control sample in the day 30 was (0. 43), while it was (0.3) & (0.18) at 0.25% & 0.5% crude oil respectively, and the growth inhibited under effect of concentration of crude oil ≥ 1%. A 40% and 68% of chlorophyll concentration was reduced under the effect of crude oil treatment 0.25% & 0.5% respectively. as well as protein concentration was reduced to 33% and 85% under the effect of 0.25% 0.5% crude oil respectively. Also, the growth, chlorophyll concentration, phycocyanin pigment and protein concentration were totally reduced under influence of crude oil 1%&2%. As well as the absorption spectrum infrared by FTIR show there were absence of methyl group (CH3) at (2920 cm-1) & (2850 cm-1), and this is could be due to the activity of Oscillatoria chlorine and also could be due to its consumed by this species. Morphologically, there were changing in the filament form to be tapering when it grew under the effect of crude oil.

Abstract

This study was carried out on 24 healthy rabbits of both sexes, divided to four age groups 1 day, 15days, 30 days and 90 days to elucidate the normal morphology and histology during four age groups above. Parotid salivary gland observed relatively large and consists of two lobes right, and left separated entirely. The right lobe is oval while the left is irregular, both them were located on both sides of the two ramus of mandible. The color of the parotid gland is creamy pink; there was significant increase in absolute and relative weight as well as the length, width, thickness increase with age, the right lobes are longer, wider and thicker than right lobes in all age groups except at 90 days age. Histologically, the gland is surrounded by capsule send septi divided the parenchyma into lobules which composed of serous ; acinus units ; striated ducts and intercalated ducts. The histological picture of the gland developed with age in the four developed age groups.

Abstract

The present study describes the algal assemblages at 3 sites within Erbil wastewater channel which extended from southwest of Erbil city with their elongation for more than 50 km effluent discharges into Greater Zab River, with particular reference to abundance, distribution and periodicity were investigated in the samples collected. A total of 56 taxes was identified belongs to 3 divisions, among them 26 taxa were belong of Bacillariophyta, 18 taxa were Cyanophyta and 12 taxa were Chlorophyta. The seasonality of algal assemblage was decreased at 3 sites within Erbil wastewater channel in January and February-2011. The dominate genera among non-diatoms were, Oscillatoria, Merismopedia Chroococcus, Ulothrix, Scendesmus and Spirogyra whereas among the diatoms were Navicula, Syndra, Gomphonema, and Fragilaria, have been studied, in addition to many environmental parameters such as water temperature, pH, electrical conductivity (EC), phosphate, sulfate, nitrate dissolved oxygen and BOD5 were evaluated to explain the effect of these parameters on algal distribution in waste water channel in Erbil city.

The results shown there are multi fluctuations of CP during study period 1970-2013, which reflected on the CO2 emissions that released from it. The CP has highest value 12000 kilo ton (kt) in 2013. CO2 emissions have the highest value 4680 Giga gram (Gg) in 2013. The percentage of share of CO2 emissions from CP increased from 1 % in 1970 to 4 % in 2013. CO2 emissions due to transportation have grown significantly from 2200 Gg in 1970 to 39000 Gg in 2013, because of increase in the number of different modes of transportation and consumption large quantities of fuel. The percentage of share of CO2 emissions from transportation in Iraq increased from 10 % in 1970 to 30 % in 2013.

Abstract

Zinc oxide (ZnO) thin films were prepared by DC- magnetron sputtering technique on glass at different substrates temperature from 350 to 550 oC in 50 oC step. The optical properties of the ZnO films were studied using UV-VIS-NIR spectrometer. The effects of substrate temperature on the absorption coefficient, optical band gap, refractive index, , extinction coefficient, single-oscillator energy, dispersion energy, high- frequency refractive index, high- frequency dielectric constant, moments of the optical spectra , average oscillator strength and average oscillator wavelength of the ZnO thin films were investigated . It was found that, the substrate temperature for these investigated films plays an important rule for changing an optical properties and dispersion parameter results of these films.

Abstract

Zinc oxide ZnO thin films were prepared by chemical spray pyrolysis technique on glass substrates at (450℃) temperature. The prepared films were annealed at different temperatures (550and600 ℃) in air for 2h to study the effect of annealing on the structural and optical properties of ZnO thin films. As-deposited and annealed films were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and UV-Vis-NIR spectroscopy. X-ray diffraction patterns indicated that the ZnO films had a polycrystalline wurtzite structure and crystallite size increases with the increase of annealing temperature. The optical properties and dispersion parameters of ZnO films have been studied over a wavelength range(400-900)nm. The optical band gap, refractive index, extinction coefficient, single-oscillator energy, dispersion energy, moments of the optical spectra (M−1) and (M−3), average oscillator strength, average oscillator wavelength, high frequency dielectric constant, the ratio of carrier concentration to the effective mass N/m*, static dielectric constant and static refractive indices of the ZnO thin films were investigated. It was shown that the annealing temperature has significant effect on the properties of ZnO thin films.

Abstract

There has been a frightening increase in drug-resistant strains of Pseudomonas aeruginosa as a result; there has been a repeated attention in alternative antimicrobial treatments, as bacteriophages. Current study was included isolation and characterization of a lytic phage specific to Pseudomonas aeruginosa (which we designed as PAP referred to a Pseudomonas aeruginosa specific phage) from sewage water of General Baqubah Hospital treatment plant. In this study, a phage PAP was isolated and titrated, using double layer agar technique. and determination of the latent periods and burst size of phage PAP then determines their stability to some of physical and chemical condition (temperature, UV light, Alcohol, chloroform and isopropanol exposure).The results detected a lytic phage in contradiction of an antibiotic-resistant Pseudomonas aeruginosa, the stock titer about 8×109 PFU(plaque forming units )/ml. In phage PAP growth cycle, the latent period was 20 min, a burst size was 126 PFU/ infected cell. We found that the phages PAP stable at 4°C and 37°C while they declined quickly after boiling for 10-20 min. unaffected in the presence of chloroform in different concentration, affected by 10% isopropanol, more affected by 70% alcohol.

Abstract

Investigations were carried out to study the immobilization behavior of cellulase Trichoderma viride on polystyrene an-ion nature of the AM-21-A, and cat-ion exchange fiber VION KN-1.Immobilization of cellulase change the values for Km which were 2.5x10-5 , 4.7x10-5 , 6.8x10-5 for free and immobilized enzyme on VION KN-1, AM-21-A respectively, and Vmax was 75,59,33 g/lmin-1mg- for free and immobilized enzyme on VION KN-1, AM-21-A respectively. The optimum temperature of the activity of the cellulase was affected by immobilization where the enzyme showed maximum activity at 50 ,60 ,70 C˚ for free and immobilized enzyme on VION KN-1, AM-21-A respectively, however, the immobilized cellulase showed a higher thermal stability, with respect to temperature, compared to the free cellulase.

Abstract

In this study, twelve location (6 in Nineveh, 3 in Kirkuk and Tikrit) were chosen to measure the precipitated dust for the years 2011and 2012. The stations were located in residential, commercial, industrial areas. The results showed a variation in the precipitated dust mean within the same year (different results with months) and an increase in 2012 compared to 2011 for Kirkuk and Tikrit by a ratio of 16% and 6.5%, respectively. The precipitated dust analysis in Nineveh showed decreasing of precipitated dust in 2012 compared to 2011 by a ratio of 21%. The precipitated dust in Tikrit was the highest, then Kirkuk and Nineveh in the last order in 2011 and 2012. In 2011, the mean value was 53.39, 37.2 and 16.3 g/m2 respectively; while in 2012 the mean value was 57, 44.4 and 12.8 g/m2, respectively as Tikrit area is widely affected by desertification and dust storms from Iraqi- Syrian border. The results also showed that the average mean of the precipitated dust was Five times more the standard limits of the Iraqi regulation (10 g/m2) which impacts on the human health as the dust particles contain many air pollutants and heavy metals attached to these particles

Abstract

This study included Isolation and identification of Proteus mrabilis , Salmonella Spp and Morganella morganii Causes Diarrhea in (215) samples for patients sufferers symptoms of Diarrhea. Period from 1\10\2014 to 30\1\2015, and used MacConkey agar and blood agar for the cultivation of these samples. The results refer that 65 isolates are belonging to bacteria of Enterobacteriaceae 13 (20 %) Proteus mirabilis and 3(4.6%)Morganella morganii 2(3.1%) Salmonella Spp by using diagnostic phenotypic ,biochemical tests and confirm the diagnosis by using system Vitek2.investigation results of some virulence factors showed isolates of Proteus mirabilis produce of haemolysin (92.3%) ,while Salmonella Spp and Morganella morganii have not ability to produce this enzyme.The results showed that all isolates of Salmonella Spp and Morganella morganii were produced protease by (100%)(50%) while Proteus mirabilis have not ability to produce this enzyme. The results showed Isolates of Proteus mirabilis showed highest resistance rate (76.9%) for Ampicillin while isolates of Salmonella Spp highest resistance rate (100%) for Cephalothin, Cefotaxime and Ampicillin , while isolates of Morganella morganii showed highest resistance rate %100 for Trimethoprime , Ampicillin , Cephalothin , Nalidixic acid , Piperacilli . Abstract

In this research the design and construction of dielectric barrier discharge system was done. It consist of two cylindrical electrode made of cupper with diameter (50 mm), the electrode was surrounding by Teflon with thickness (10 mm). The two electrodes were fixed such that one of them can be moved vertically to change the distance between the electrodes. The two electrodes were connected to high power Ac voltage. One of the electrodes was covered by dielectric material; however, we used two kind of dialectic (glass and Teflon) with thickness (1, 2, 3) mm. The electrical characteristic of the system were studied from (I - V) curves by changing gap distance , thickness of dielectric, frequency of the applied voltage kind of the dielectric distance, thickness of the dielectric and the frequency. Also, the breakdown voltage of the system was studied with gap distance and thickness of the dielectric, it is observed that increases the breakdown voltage with increasing gap distance and thickness of the dielectric. It is found that decreasing the discharge current when the Teflon is used as a dielectric sheet instead of glass, while increasing of the breakdown voltage.

Abstract

The effect of different concentration of crude oil had been examined upon Oscillatoria chlorina, it was depended upon measuring Growth rate as optical density, Chlorophyll, Phycocyanin and Protein concentration as an Physiological activities indicator of crude oil effects on Oscillatoria chlorina, in addition to morphological changes. The growth optical density in the control sample in the day 30 was (0. 43), while it was (0.3) & (0.18) at 0.25% & 0.5% crude oil respectively, and the growth inhibited under effect of concentration of crude oil ≥ 1%. A 40% and 68% of chlorophyll concentration was reduced under the effect of crude oil treatment 0.25% & 0.5% respectively. as well as protein concentration was reduced to 33% and 85% under the effect of 0.25% 0.5% crude oil respectively. Also, the growth, chlorophyll concentration, phycocyanin pigment and protein concentration were totally reduced under influence of crude oil 1%&2%. As well as the absorption spectrum infrared by FTIR show there were absence of methyl group (CH3) at (2920 cm-1) & (2850 cm-1), and this is could be due to the activity of Oscillatoria chlorine and also could be due to its consumed by this species. Morphologically, there were changing in the filament form to be tapering when it grew under the effect of crude oil
