Aim: The present study was performed to measure intrapulpal temperature when photoirradiation of composite resin and glass ionomer liner at different curing times.
Material and Methods: Thermocouple (TC) was placed in the intrapulpal space of an extracted human mandibular premolar which had a ClassV cavity preparation (1.5mm dentin thickness remaining on the buccal surface), and restored with composite resin" a bulk fill "and with LED unit " a high-intensity " at different photoirradiation times (10, 20. & 40sec). A temperature increase was obtained during photo-irradiation.
Result: The Rise in intrapulpal temperature was associated with an increase in photo-irradiation times and significant in each study groups (p<0.05).
Conclusion: intrapulpal temperature increase was attributed to photo-irradiation's time of composite resin. However, temperature's increase during polymerization were below the critical value.

The aim of study: this study was done to assess the clinicopathological features including gender, age, and clinical variations of Twenty Two diagnosed oral pyogenic granuloma in Iraqi patients attended Al Hussein Teaching Medical Center, Karbala city
Materials and Methods: A retrospective study for the twenty two cases (22) diagnosed as Pyogenic Granuloma was achieved, the submitted biopsies during a3 years period from January 2018 to March 2021 at Al Hussein Teaching Medical Center, Karbala Health Office, Iraqi Ministry of Health. Data for the following parameters were reported gender, age, site, and clinical presentation (size, base attachment, surface and color).
Results: The results showed Pyogenic granuloma (PG) as a tumor like (non-neoplastic) soft tissue lesion had female predilection (with obvious differences found in the distribution among age groups as age group 20-29 in males showed (18.75%) and 40-49 age group in females with (17.9%) with tendency to highly expressed in the gingiva 77.3% and could affect extra oral sites like skin at lesser extent (4.55%). The maximum diameter of PG were ranged from 0.2-3 cm; The majority of cases presented as sessile lesion clinically (81.8%) and less cases recorded as pedunculated lesion (18.2%).
Conclusion: Although this benign lesion is commonly encountered during dental treatment could appear with wide range of variations clinically, in our study PG showed female predilection and this well explained the nature of lesion which has hormonal relation

Aim of the study: This study was conducted to evaluate the antibacterial effect of Rhamnus prinoides mouthwash against Streptococcus mutans in a group of orthodontic patients with gingivitis, and to compare the gingival index before and 3 weeks after using Rhamnus Prinoides mouthwash and placebo 2 times daily for study and control group respectively.
Materials and methods: Rhamnus Prinoides mouthwash was extracted from plant leaves, filtered, then it was mixed with ethanol after being dried. The anti-bacterial effect was evaluated by measuring the streptococcus mutans count before and after 3 weeks of using Rhamnus Prinoides mouthwash and placebo in study and control group respectively.
Results: Rhamnus Prinoides mouthwash demonstrated an anti-bacterial effect by significantly reducing the mean streptococcus mutans count from 14.23*10-5±7.67 (CFU/ml) to 0.45*10-5±0.28 (CFU/ml) in study group. While in control group mean streptococcus mutans count significantly increased from 13.79*10-5±11.11 (CFU/ml) to 30.22*10-5±33.57 (CFU/ml). The mean gingival index found to change significantly from the moderate type at the base line (gingival index = 1.53± 0.26) to mild type on the third week (gingival index= 0.97±0.007 ) in study group, while in control group it remained with moderate type from the base line visit (gingival index= 1.44±0.16) to the third week (gingival index= 1.46±0.16).
Conclusion: Rhamnus Prinoides mouthwash exhibited a significant anti-bacterial activity by reducing the streptococcus mutans count, and thus it can be considered as a promising oral health care product in the future.

Aim of the study. Many efforts were applied to use new antimicrobial agents due to the recent appearance of bacterial resistance to treatment. One of the antimicrobial agents is the Bacteriocin. Bacteriocins are small molecules produced by probiotics bacteria and have the ability to minimize pathogens colonization. This study performed to evaluate the effect of bacteriocin against candida albicans growth, inhibition of the formation of biofilm and tensile strength of the hot soft liner and compare the results with the use of denture cleanser tablets.

Aim: The purpose was to study the influence of disinfectant solutions on shear bond strength between gutta percha (GP) and different sealers.
Materials and method: 90 GP samples were used. Glassionemer sealer group A (n=20), mineral trioxide aggregate( MTA) sealer group B (n=20), iroot sealer group C (n=20), control group (n=10) for each group. Treated the surface of GP for each group by two disinfectant solutions (NaOCL 2.5%, CHX 2%).Shear bond strength( S.B.S) test was calculate by digital universal testing machine.

Aim: The aim of this research was to examine physical attributes of two calcium silicate-based liner" Mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA), and resin modified calcium silicate (Theracal LC)".
Material and Methods: Ten discs of each tested material were prepared according to manufacturer instructions of each material, then pasted onto molds and allow to set then tested, porosity, water sorption and solubility were measured using mass measurements.

Flexible dentures (thermoplastic material) are ideal alternatives to traditional methyl methacrylate dentures, since they not only give exceptional aesthetics and comfort, but also adapt to the continual movement of partially edentulous patients. During the manufacturing of acrylic denture base material, an effective separating medium must be used to separate the denture cleanly from the plaster to avoid direct contact between the denture base material and the mould surface.

The heat acrylic soft lining materials are far from ideal due to poor soften and weak tearing strengths. This cause some practical problems when testing the adherence of soft liners to denture bases. The study objective was to assess the effect of either Neem or Aloe Vera extracts on tear strength and hardness of heat acrylic soft denture lining material.

Background: In dentistry, different researchers in various studies have tried various methods and techniques to reuse, recycle and manage the waste of dental materials. CAD/CAM wax could be recycled effectively without any degeneration of its original properties by refreshing with new materials using simple techniques. The objective of the current study is to evaluate the dimensional accuracy of the new modified machinable dental wax for CAD/CAM purposes.
Materials and Methods: In the present study three experimental blank discs were performed using the same technique for each type, but with different weight/compositions of dental and mineral waxes. A master die was scanned and designed for the crown copy patterns. Ten identical wax copings were milled for each experimental group (Type I, Type II, and Type III) to compare with the control (Dentify-Germany and Zotion™-China) discs. Wax patterns were cast into metal copies to assess the differences in accuracy values of the axial, proximal, and occlusal surfaces between the wax patterns and metal coping.
Result: Non- significant differences were noticed in the thickness accuracy between the wax pattern and the metal copy of the experimental discs of Type (I) and Type (II) that were manually produced compared to the commercial discs (P>0.05). While, Type III showed statistically significant differences were noticed between the wax and metal patterns, at different surfaces except in mesial surface (P<0.05).
Conclusion: Wax patterns fabricated using a new version of machinable wax produced by recycling some CAD/CAM wax with different fresh materials showed acceptable dimensional accuracy. Also, it seems to have few significant differences for CAD/CAM purposes in terms of patterns thickness than those obtained available and conventional waxTM.

Silicone elastomers are the most widely used maxillofacial materials, however, it is far away from ideal and still progresses through many improvements for replacing the facial defect, maxillofacial prostheses need renewed as early as six months and can last up to 24 months. The color change is the most essential cause for remaking new prostheses.

The antimicrobial activity of a root canal sealer can increase the success rate of endodontic treatments. The key of antimicrobial properties of calcium based sealers laid in their composition and alkalinity. The invention and applications of newer materials are quintessential in every field especially in endodontics. This reality has led to growing interest in the use of biomaterials products that comprised of both mineral and organic components as those in the teeth. This study was performed to assess the antibacterial activity of newly prepared calcium oxide based nanosealer and compare the result with BioRoot sealer

Background: Due to increased chewing capability, one of the most common problems with dentures is that prosthetic teeth can come loose from the denture. The mechanical design of the connection between thermoplastic base materials and acrylic teeth has increased the problem of tooth debonding.
Objective: The current study was conducted to assess the shear bind strength of artificial teeth to thermoplastic resin utilizing fusing liquid and mechanical modifications (Alumin-ablasting, T. hole) of tooth ridge lap before and after 100 hours of accelerated ageing.
Materials and method: A total 120 maxillary central incisors have been chosen and grouped into 6 groups of 20 samples each, according to surface treatments. each group subdivided into before and after 100hrs according to artificial ageing (n=10). Shear bond strength test conducted by a universal measurement apparatus with crosshead speed 0.5mm / min. Data were statistically analyzed by one-way ANOVA and Tukey’s (HSD).

Results: Various surface treatments techniques significantly affected the shear bond strength with statistical high difference in mean bond strength after various surface treatments compared to the control group at (p < 0.001). Regarding surface treatment, Dual treatment of “alumina-blasting + fusion liquid” showed considerably elevated strength compared to alumina-blasting alone at (p < 0.001). also “T. hole +fusion liquid” treatment yielded a significant elevation in strength reading compared to T. hole alone at (p < 0.001). Great significant full in strength value was noted in all groups post 100hrs of artificial ageing process at (p < 0.001). The combined surface treatment revealed the lowest percentage reduction in SBS yielded in (T. Hole + fusion), (Alumina-blasting + fusion) than T. hole alone and alumina-blasting alone after 100hrs of artificial ageing process.
Conclusion: Surface treatment with T. hole + fusion liquid or alumina-blasting + fusion liquid enhanced SBS.

Statement of problem: The wear resistance for flexible denture base material.
Purpose: The purpose of the study was to measure the wear resistance, of flexible acrylic denture base material; after being coated with light-polymerized glaze material.
Materials and methods: A total of (30) Thermoplastic resin specimens were divided into three groups according to the tests, each group consisted of 10 specimens (A) control group had no surface treatment, group (B) specimens surface was treated with Optiglaze materials after finishing and polishing; group (C) specimens was treated with Optiglaze materials after finishing only without polishing. Each specimen's weight loss was measured by comparing the weights before and after the wear test. Collected data were statistically analyzed using SPSS.
Results: The results of this study showed the higher mean values for wear resistance was registered by (C) group which was 8.7420,followed by (B) group which was 7.3210,while the lowest mean value related to the (A) group which was 7.0907.
Conclusion: Statistically wear values were lower for groups C & D and higher in group A.
Clinical implications: This study may be useful in assisting dental professionals and technicians in selecting the best polishing and coating material for dentures. Coating flexible acrylic resin denture materials with an Optiglaze to improve wear resistance.

Aim: The purpose of this study was to compare the fracture resistance and color stability of three different restoration materials: Nano composite, flowable composite, and Nanohybid composite.
Materials and Methods: 45 removed human maxillary premolar teeth for orthodontic treatment were chosen. The teeth were divided into three experimental groups, each consisting of fifteen teeth: Direct composite veneers constructed of Nano - composites were employed to fix the teeth in Group A. (Z350 XT, 3M, USA). Group B: Flowable composite was used to directly veneer teeth (G-aenial Universal flo GC, Japan). Group C: Direct composite veneers made of Nanohybid composite were used to reconstruct teeth (G-aenial GC, Japan).

Background: There are several different impression materials and techniques utilized in the fabrication of complete dentures.
Aim of the study: To determine the anxiety levels and the clinical procedure time for maxillary completely edentulous patients by the use of two different impression techniques; the use of a low-fusing green stick compound along with zinc oxide eugenol impression paste and addition silicone (polyvinyl siloxane) along with light body material.
