Abstract
TheCOVID-19pandemichasbecomearealchallengetothemedicalcommunity.AlongwiththeproblemoftreatingpatientsincriticalconditionscausedbySARS-CoV-2,thepandemicCOVID-19hasexacerbatedsomeenvironmental,socialandbiomedicalproblems.Thisresearchincluded90patientswithCOVID-19and30non-infected(positivecontrol). Allsampleswerecollectedfromnasalswabs andpharyngealswabs in subjects of differentagesandgenderfromtheperiodNovember2021toFebruary2022andwasperformedatBaqubahGeneralHospitalin Diyala.Allsamples(from infected patientsandhealthypatients)werealreadyidentifiedbyusingReverseTranscriptasePolymeraseChainReaction(RT-PCR).Complement C3, C4 and white blood cells, lymphocytes and platelets were determined for all samples. The current study indicatesthat the COVID-19 patients showed lower levels of C3 and C4 were (96.48±6.72and 22.03±1.67) mg/dlrespectively, while the hematology tests showed a lesser ratio of WBC and LYM were (11.94±0.73and 20.35±1.46) μl, while a high ratio of PLTwas (288.71±12.71) μl.
