Radioactivity had been measured for samples of surface water and sediments by gamma rays spectra that result of use the germanium detector of high purity (HpGe).Five samples of surface water and Five samples of sediments were collected in different regions of Babylon governorate relying on the administrative map of the governorate. The results of measurement radioactivity of the surface water of samples showed that radioactivity for the samples lover than the sensitivity of system by limits (0.5 BqLt).While the results of measured radioactivities of sediments samples showed that there was natural measurement radioisotopes belonging to Uranium-238, Thorium-232 series and Potassium- 40 isotopes. The results also showed that Radium-226, Lead-214 and Bismuth-214 had high concentration in Al-Kifl and clarify at the Al-Kasim regions, however, they were within the limits of allowed with world.
