This study was conducted in the Agricultural Research center
Ainkawa - Erbil. In order to verify the effect of seaweed (Matrix- 15) on
the growth of two cultivars of strawberry (Fragaria x ananassa Duch.)
one is June bearing (Cadonca) and the other is ever bearing
(Tethis).during growing season between (2008/7/20 - 2009/2/20). The
study included plant spraying with (Matrix-15) which contain macro and
micro nutrients and natural plant growth regulators at the concentrations
of (0, 1,1.5,2 ml/Litert) The experiments designed according to
completely randomized design CRD and the results compared by using
LSD
at the probability of 5%

In the present work an instrumented heat pipe is designed, constructed and inserted
inside a greenhouse to be used as a heating source during night or cloudy days in the
cold months. Transferring geothermal heat from underground to the surrounding inside
the greenhouse without consumption of conventional energy is one of the latest applications of
the heat pipe device to transfer heat. The heat pipe is made of a sealed metal tube
containing water as a working fluid. It is divided into three sections; the evaporator,
adiabatic section and condenser. The buried part of the heat pipe is the evaporator
section which transfers heat from the underground soil to the working fluid, which is in
turn, transfers heat to the condenser where it is rejected to the surrounding inside the
greenhouse. This study was conducted on a greenhouse with an area of (3.75)m2
. Two
heat pipes inserted at different depths inside the greenhouse soil were used to
investigate the performance of this device. Results show an increase, with stability, of
the environment temperature inside the greenhouse when the heat pipe is implemented
in the cold and cloudy days of the cold winter months. The temperature inside the
greenhouse reached (20)oC when the heat pipe inserted inside the soil to a level
of(3.5)m with heat transfer rate of (126)W, while the outside temperature was
about(14)oC

The study was carried out in a private Olive yard in El-Hawija -
Kirkuk during the growing season 2009 on 18 years old Olive's tree of
(Cv. Bashiki) to investigate the effect of four levels of organic fertilizer
(control-without adding fertilizer , 15 , 25 , and 35 Kg of sheep manures,
with only mineral fertilizer (N.P.K.) on yield and it's components.
The results showed that application of organic fertilizer produced
higher number of complete flowers as compared with non-treated Olive
trees. And the highest number was (128 flower.tree-1
) with application of
(35 Kg of sheep manures.tree-1
). The amounts of falling fruits were
increased significantly (p>5%) by non-fertilizer applications compared
with all levels of manure applications and mineral fertilizer, so that the
production of control was decreased significantly (p>5%),and the highest
production was at (35 Kg of sheep manures.tree-1
) which was( 69 Kg.tree1
) . However, the total production was (1.642 ton.h-1
) with application of(
35 Kg of sheep manures.tree-1

This research was conducted at the Vegetable Research Farm / Dept. of Horticulture / Agric. College /Duhok Univ.,
to study the effect of seed storage period and number of harvesting times of fresh fruits on fruits and seeds yield in summer
squash (Local cv. Mulla Ahmad) . The results exhibited that seed storage period had no significant effect on fresh fruits
yield plant-1
,while harvesting frequency of fruits affected significantly number of fruits plant-1
, fruit weight and fruit yield
plant-1
as compared with control treatment ( without fruit harvest) , and the best interaction treatment in number of fruits and
fruit yield plant-1 was (seed storage for one year + 2 harvesting of fruits) produced 19.15 fruit and 10.00 kg plant-1
respectively . Regarding seeds yield , it was noticed a significant reduction in number of fruits held for seed production
through elongation of storage period recorded (2.304 & 2.051) fruit in both seed storage treatments respectively , this trait
did not affected significantly with increasing no. of fruit harvesting . Whereas , average fruit weight , seed yield plant-1
and
total seeds yield decreased significantly by increasing seed storage period . Concerning harvesting frequency of fruits, it
caused a significant reduction in all traits related with seeds yield as compared with control treatment . The results also
revealed that interaction treatment between storage period and harvesting frequency of fruits does not had a significant
effect on number of fruits plant-1
. The interaction treatment (seeds storage for one year + without fruits harvesting ) gave
the best results for most traits of seeds yield and its components recorded 1.476 kg. for fruit weight , 467.17 seeds in
number of seeds fruit-1
, 32.15 g in seeds weight fruit-1
, 93.64 g in seed yield plant-1
and 1373.34 kg ha-1
for the total seeds
yield

A pot experiment was carried out to study the role of chemical composition of water, soil
texture and their interaction on soil chemical properties and growth of corn plant, at
Grdarasha Field, College of Agriculture, University of Salahaddin, Erbil. The results
indicated to increase in electrical conductivity of the soil extract after harvest and ranged
between 1.25 to 9.30 dS m-1 with increasing the electrical conductivity of the water from
0.44 to 5.00 dS m-1 , the highest value of electrical conductivity of soil extract 9.30 dS m-1
was recorded from W6S1, while the lowest value 1.25 dS m-1
was recorded fromW1S1 .The
highest value 93.14 g pot-1
of dry matter was recorded at treatment combination W6S1,
generally the role of soil texture was very clear in the weight of dry matter in S1 which was 8
times more than its weight in S2 .The quality of irrigation water affected significantly in the
concentration of cations and anions and chlorophyll content of corn plant

Field experiment was conducted to study effect three design shapes of
moldboard plow shares (Conventional share, Hoe share, and Sectioned
share), two levels of the depths (10-20 and 20-30) cm and two different
speeds (3.5) km/h and (5.3) km/h according to design RCBD method of
split-split block design, Then their effects in performance parameter
(actual productivity, performance efficiency, soil distribution volume, and
coefficient of working width exploitation). And soil physical properties
(bulk density and porosity). Results showed that the Sectioned share
significantly surpassed on Conventional share and Hoe share in all
performance parameter and soil physical properties, The different levels
of depths and speeds had significant effects in all the performance
parameter and soil physical properties. All interactiong (speeds and
depths) had significant effects in all performance parameter and soil
physical properties exceptionality coefficient of working width

The study included the comparison between solubility diagram method and DRIS-chart
method in studying phosphorus availability and it\'s status in calcareous soil. The results
refers to record the similar results in both methods, in both methods the best treatment for
recording the highest wheat yield and phosphorus availability was application of 90 kg P ha1
. On the other hand the nutritional balance among phosphorus and all the studied nutrients
(nitrogen, potassium .calcium and magnesium) was recorded from application of 90 kg P ha-1
only.

Nine local healthy lactating Sharabi cows in their first month of lactation
were selected from Al-Rashidiya farm/ State board of agriculture
research/ Ninava governorate. These cows were randomly divided into
three groups having semi-similar daily milk production. The first group
was fed on a standard concentrate ration composed of 15.5% crude
protein and 2745 Kcal/Kg. Metabolisable energy as recommended by
N.R.C., ;(1975). The second and third groups were given the same rations
except that 28 ( 13% NSM) and 56% ( 26% NSM ) of total crude protein
was replaced by Nigella sativa meal which were added, respectively. The
rations were individually offered to the cattle according to the live body
weight and average daily milk yield. Wheat straw was given to the cows
of all groups in a quantity representing 1% of live body weight. However,
milk production of each cow was daily calculated and chemical analysis
of milk samples were weekly carried out. The feeding trials lasted eight
successive weeks. At the last week, a digestion trial was carried out. The
results indicated a significant improvement (p<0.05) was found in the
cow groups consumed a ration contain 26% Nigella sativa meal in
comparison with other groups consuming concentrated ration and wheat
straw. Also the results indicated a significant difference (p<0.01) in the
daily milk yield among all groups, these values were(8.3 ,8.9 and 10.1)
kg/cow/day, respectively. However, the results indicated a significant
(p<0.01) improvement in the digestion coefficient of crude fiber and the
values were (55.6, 84.1 and 90.4)%, respectively. It can be concluded
from the study that addition of Nigella sativa meal in the ration of 26%
into native daily cows rations as a source of vegetable crude protein improved milk production with no adverse effect on its composition. In
addition, such supplementation improved feed intake and increase the
digestion coefficients of all nutrients of these rations.

The study conducted in sheep farm (College of Agriculture – University of Kirkuk) on
15 Awassi ewes aged 2-3 yrs old and weighted 45 kg in average. Ewes were divided into 3
groups, 1st group (4 ewes left without treatment as control), the 2nd
treatment (4 ewes were
subjected to estrus synchronization using intravaginal progestagen sponges, while 3rd
group
(7 ewes) were estrus synchronized as in the 2nd group in addition to injection of 400 IU of
PMSG. Ewes were subjected to blood sampling (2 ml) from the start of the study up to 6
months (two weeks between 2 subsequent samples). Blood serum separated to determine
glucose and Cholesterol level, AST and ALT enzymes activities, in addition to serum level
of Calcium, Phosphorus, Iron, and Copper. Ewes fertility and prolificacy, gestation period,
lambs birth and weaning weights and average daily gain up to weaning (90 days of age) were
recorded.
The results showed that hormonal treatment did not affect significantly ewe’s fertility,
prolificacy and gestation period length, with higher fertility in 3rd treatment in compare with
the control group. Hormonal treatment effect in lamb birth weight, weaning weight and
Average daily gain (ADG) were not significant, with higher weaning weight and ADG in 1st
treatment in comparison with control and 3 rd treatments.The differences between hormonal
treatments and control group in blood biochemical values were not significant, with higher
blood glucose and AST activity and lower iron concentration in 3rd treatment. Simple
correlation coefficients between blood biochemical values and ewe’s prolificacy, gestation
period, lamb birth, weaning weigh and ADG were insignificant except the significant
correlations (P<0.01) between ewes prolificacy with blood glucose (positive) and with blood
cholesterol (negative) and between lambs weaning weights and ADG with blood iron
concentrations which were positive and significant (P<0.05).

This study was conducted at Mosul college of Agriculture and
forestry for the period between 15th of April to 13th of May 2006 to
recognize the ability of honey bee to distinguishable to different colors
under normal - conditions Results showed that honey bee was attracted
significantly to ultraviolet color comparing with other colores with a
mean ( 9.76 bee ) , the lowest attract was to red color with a mean ( 2.27
bee ) , in the other wise the mean of reading time at 12 . A . M .(5 .77
bee) was significant comparing with 10. A. M. ( 4 . 95 bee ) , mean while
reading date at 29th April and 6th May with mean ( 8.61 -807 )
respectively comparing with other dates while interaction results between
reading time and dates showed that reading at 10 A.M in 6th May was
significantly comparing with other reading means ( 10 .21 bee )
