This work was carried out to study the effect of supplement diet of laying
hens with dried Kefir Milk the on their productive performance. A total number
of 144 laying Lohmann brown hens aged 22 weeks were, distributed randomly
to four treatment with three replicates per treatment (12 hen/ replicate) The first
treatments served as control group and was fed basal diet (no Kefir), The second
treatments was fed the basal diet supplemented with 2 g, of dried Kefir milk/ kg
feed the third treatments was fed the basal diet supplemented with 4 g dried
Kefir milk/kg feed, while the fourth treatment was fed the basal diet
supplemented 6g dried Kefir milk/kg feed .The experiment lasted for 16 weeks
till the age of 38 weeks. The results revealed significant improvement of the
productive traits of the treatment received dried Kefir milk compared with the
control group (P <0.05) It may be concluded that rate of egg production (% hen
day production) number weight mass of eggs. And feed efficiency during the
production periods under study were significant better due to inclusion of dried
Kefir milk to layers diet.

This study was conducted to detect CPMV in infecting cowpea plantes at Plant
Protection Department/College of Agriculture, University of Baghdad.
Symptomatic cowpea plants collected from fields in Baghdad and Diyala
Provinces were tested by Emzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA),
reverse transcription- polymerase chain reaction RT-PCR and Immuno-capture
reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (IC-RT-PCR) using commercial
kits. ELISA approach could detect Cowpea mosaic virus CpMV in tested
samples but with virus concentration lower than the positive control supplied
with the kit, indicating a unique virus strain. RNA from samples showed the
highest CpMV concentration were extracted by direct release and used in IC-
PT-PCR using como2 a comovirus specific primer set. cDNA was synthetized
using como2 revers primer. RT-PCR confirmed the detection of comoviruses
when amplified 200 bp DNA fragments from CpMV infected samples.
Sequence analysis confirmed CpMV detection when compared with equivalent
GenBank sequences. The sequence obtained shared 94.1% maximum nucleotide
identity with RNA dependent RNA polymerase (RdRp) gene of CpMV from
Egypt (Acc. No. KT438619 and X00206). Both sequence analysis and IC-RT-
PCR indicated that virus isolate detected could be an Iraq divergent strain of
CpMV.

Thyme plant leaves were collected from locally Khanaqin marked-Diyala, Iraq.
Volatile oil successfully was extracted from leaves of thyme using aqueous
extract method. The aqueous extracted oil yield was 4 %. Thin layer
chromatography (TLC) analysis appeared five zones; four of these zones were
identified. The composition of the oil extract present were carvacrol (23.7%), p-
Cymene (10.4%), Camphor (0.9) and thymol (19.7%) besides othor unknown
compounds. The volatile oil possessed antimicrobial activity against some
human pathogenic bacteria and more over fungi, while, the activity was mainly
attributed to thymol and carvacrol. The study can confirm possible use of
volatile oil as food preservative to prevent growth of food born bacteria.

The experiment was conducted at a nursery in the city of Baghdad, during
the time 2013/2014 season. The objective of the experiment was to study the
effects of four planting density (1, 2, 3 and 4 bulbs pot-1), three depth of planting
(3, 6, and 9 cm) and two levels of NPK fertilization (0 and 100 mg L-1) on
growth and flowering of Iris hollandica cv. Prof. Blaauw. The studied
parameters included number of days to flowering, plant height, flower diameter,
flowering stem diameter, flowering stem fresh weight, vase life, fresh weight of
new bulbs and fresh weight of bulblets.
Plant density at (one bulb pot-1) produced the highest plant, largest flower,
best stem diameter and heaviest fresh weight of flowering stem, while it gave
the lowest fresh weight of bulbs and bulblets per pot. Depth of planting had a
significant effects in increasing the number of days to flowering and fresh
weight of the new bulbs, while it significantly decreased the fresh weight of the
flowering stem. Fertilization significantly increased stem diameter, fresh weight
of flowering stem and fresh weight of bulblets, while it significantly decreased
the number of days to flowering. Interaction between depth of planting and
fertilization and between plant density and fertilization had a significant effect
on number of days for flowering and fresh weight of flowering stem
respectively.

A Plastic house experiment was conducted at College of Agriculture -
University of Baghdad, and applied according to Randomized Complete Block
Design (R.C.B.D) using split- split plot design. The experiment included three
factors. The water stress factor represents the main plots (50% and 100% of the
field capacity) and are symbolized by W1 and W2. The sub-plots include Humic
Fertilizer (Disper Humic) with four levels (0, 40, 80, 120 kg.h-1), which is
characterized by (H1, H2, H3, H4), and sub-sub-plots include the amino acid
(Ornithine), with three concentrations (0, 200, 250 mg L-1) and are symbolized
(O1, O2, O3). Results indicated the triple-interaction between the studied factors
(250 mg L-1 Ornithine and 120 kg.h-1 humus fertilizer and irrigation level of
100%) significantly gave the highest main stem lenght, stem diameter, number
of branches, leaf area, the percentage of relative water content in the leaves, total
chlorophyll content of leaves, dry weight of vegetative growth and root at
flowering and fruiting stage (43 cm, 121.3 dis2 plant-1, 193.7 mg 100g-1, Fresh
weight, 66.25 g plant-1, and 29.79 g plant-1, 86.98% respectively).

This study was conducted on the floor covering in the Kanaan area of Diyala
province, central Iraq, between latitudes 44 ° 39 '21.29''- 45º 03' 19.99' and 33º
28 '34.79'- 33º 42'37.5'and an area of 882.508 km2. To study the deterioration of
the vegetation cover, the field survey was based on the identification of ground
control points. We also used the first satellite data for the Landsat 7 sensor ETM
+ (row 37 and path 168) captured on 25/4/2000 and the second satellite Landsat
7 sensor ETM + (row 37 and path 168), which was taken on 18/4/2009. The
unsupervised classification on the satellite data. The results of this classification
showed that the study obtained 5 categories, namely vegetation cover including
forest trees and orchards, unexploited agricultural land, exploited agricultural
land, buildings and constructions and barren land. They were identified and
compared with the 50 Land control points. The total accuracy of the
classification was 85% and 81% for 2000 and 2009, respectively. The statistical
scale Kappa was also used to calculate accuracy was 0.81 and 0.82% for 2000
and 2009, respectively, as well as reached a clear deterioration of the vegetation
cover by 40.65%, equivalent to an area of 31.182 km2.
