them. The importance and the dimensions of this crisis is
sharply increased especially in the last period, because of
the absent planning and development in Iraq. So the study
of this Crisis in Basra governorate considers an urgent
necessity because it regards one of the main problems that
faces the governorate which has to be handled or
decreased. The habitation Crisis conceives the source for
many of the economic and social problem, in addition, it
stands as an obstruction in front of the individual freedom
movement in life because of the intense pressures in family
life crowded in houses. for, the research contains the study
of the habitation Crisis in Basra governorate through the
explanation of its concept and the diagnosis of its causes
which leads to its evolution as well as the study of its
directions to show the dimension of this crisis.

The rail transport in the province of Basra essentially
irreplaceable because of its significant role in economic
development through revenue derived from the movement
of goods and raw materials according to the six stations
productivity especially for transport and the persons or
passengers in three stations, service, not to mention the
social role of in the smooth transition and communication
and in creating a political unity, so the aim of the research is
to examine the conceptual framework for rail transport and
its role in the development of the province of Basra in
economic, social and political, for the period (2004-2010).

The study was conducted in a private nursery in
Basrah city from 16/3 until 30/8/2011 to investigate the
effect of three cutting lengths (8,10 and 12 cm) and three
cutting thickness (6-8, 8-10 and 10-12 mm) on the rooting of
tip shoots cuttings of geranium plant Pelargonium hortorum
L.
Data were tabulated on rooting percentage, number of
roots per cutting, average root length and dry matter of
roots, in a factorial experiment designed with a Complete
Randomized Design (CRD) with three replications, the first
factor was cutting length and the second one was cutting
thickness.
Results showed a significant increase in rooting
percentage, number of roots per cutting, average root length
and dry mater of root in the cuttings of 10 and 12 cm length,
similar results were obtained from cuttings of 8-10 and 10
12 mm thickness.
The interaction between the two factors was found
significant in rooting percentage (66.1%) in cuttings of 12
cm long and 10-12 mm thickness and number of roots per
cutting (2.9) obtained from the same previous ones, while it
was not significant in the other two indicators.
