Abi Al-Fadhl Al–Abbas's (pbuh) personality has been immortalized
since his martyrdom till the present time due to his being distinguished by
noble and high morals and also by unique stands . He was a commanding
leader and active member in Al- Husainy’s uprising resulting in his getting
an everlasting badge of honour in the history of martyrdom as no one both
past and present، could or would reach his degree or rank in martyrdom
because he has had his considerable position which distinguishes him from
all the other martyrs in Islam . Imam Zainul- Abideen (pbuh) showed such
considerable position by saying : To Allah، the Most High and Blessed، Al-
Abbas has a position that’ all martyrs envy him on the Day of Judgement،
as his saying all martyrs ‘ implies and suggests generality ; it includes those
who resemble him in losing their hands in the battle field such as Jaafar Al-
Tayyar or those who don’t such as Hamza whose liver was eaten after his
being died martyr . Envy means wishing to reach or approach the position
of the person envied . Allah، the Most High،granted such a distinguished
position to Al- Abbas (pbuh) as a reward for all that he did for the sake of
Allah، the most High and for the sake of his brother، Imam Husain (pbuh) in
Karbala as he showed loyalty، patronage altruism،self-esteem، patience and
sacrifice. All these characteristics together were considered characteristics
of Al –Abbas (pbuh) only in supporting Imam Husain (pbuh) son of Prophets
‘(pbuh& progeny) daughter . Inspite of the great number of supporters and
also those who died martyrsin battlefields all through history، but still no
one has superiority over Al –Abbas (pbuh) and as a consequence Allah،the
Most High granted him such a distinguished position . Because of such
a high position for such a hero،the researcher found it important to shed
light on the different sides of his life and his biography together with the
characteristics by which he was characterized so as to bring them into
view and then analyse them but with no monotonous prolixity or violative
brevity wishing to fulfil this goal

This paper dealt with Al –Abbas bin Ali bin Abi Talib
(pbuth) juristic personality in the early historical narration
to shed light on such a personality . The research fell into
four sections ( axes) with an introduction and a conclusion .
Section one was entitled : Narrations on the ancestry of his
mother and also on his birth ( pbuh) as his mention and also
his mothers’، Fatimah bint Hizam have been simultaneous
and inerrelated . Section two tackled the narrations on
the social bringing up under the protection of his parents
whereas section three dealt with his position and stand in Al-
Taff Battle . Section four، on the other hand، was concerned
with his nicknames and virtues .
The problem of the research was the insufficiency of the
early historical narrations as we rarely found a single long
narration dealing with the biography of Al- Imam Al- Abbas
( pbuh) neither on his early childhood nor on his social
bringing up under the auspices of his parents or with his
brothers. Accordingly، the researcher was in a position to
go back to the historical narrations and to check the words
mentioned on behalf of Al- Imam Al- Abbas ( pbuh) and then
present them and put them in order so as to be in harmony
with the pages of the research.

Unlike the other sons of Imam Ameer Al- Muimineen
( pbuh)، Abi Al- Fadhl Al- Abbas ( pbuh) was characterized
by his accompaniment and adherence to his father and his
brothers،Imam Hasan and Imam Husain ( pbuth) . Accordingly،
he was a true and exact copy of the Infallible Imams ( pbuth) in
terms of the virtues،noble traits and knowledge .
He followed the example of his father Ameer Al- Muimineen
( pbuh) in terms of his belief،his behavior and his courage as
all that Ameer Al- Muimineen ( pbuh) had was inherited in Abi
Al- Fadhl Al- Abbas ( pbuh). The Prophet ( pbuh& progeny )
assumed Ameer Al- Muamineen ( pbuh) for all great deeds
and also he was the first to contribute in his wars as he was
the carrier of his banner in all his wars and conquests . Almam
Al- Abbas (pbuh) was the second personality after
Imam Husain (pbuh) and the carrier of his banner on the day
of the immortal Taff Battle ( epic) . Imam Ali (pbuh) was a
great servant and defender of the Prophet ( pbuh& progeny
) ; he accompanied the Prophet ( pbuh& progeny ) in all his
actions،in his presence and his travel and in peace and in war
. He always sacrificed himself his wealth and his children for
the prophet ( pbuh& progeny ) . . Imam Ali (pbuh) was known
by this as when anyone seeking proximity and closeness to
the Prophet ( pbuh& progeny ) would approach and be close
to Ameer Al- Muimineen ( pbuh) . It was well – known thatImam Ali said Iam one of the slaves of Muhammad ( pbuh&
progeny)’ . Al- Abbas ( pbuh)، on the other hard always also
served his brother Imam Husain ( pbuth) and he always
defended him and always addressed him saying Sir،My lord
According to the verse .
According to the verse And it is not righteousness to enter
houses from the back but righteousness is (in) one who fears
Allah . And enter houses from their doors . And fear Allah that
you may be successful Imam Ameer Al- Muamineen (pbuh)
was considered the gate ( door) to the Prophet ( pbuh&
progeny ) as the Prophet ( pbuh& progeny ) said ‘Iam the city
of knowledge and Ali is the gate ; he who wants to enter the
city must enter through the gate . Al- Abbas bin Ameer Al-
Muimineen was also considered the gate to his brother Imam
Husain ( pbuh ) .
This paper dealt with the biography of Al- Imam Al- Abbas
( pbuh) and ethical and heroic actions and stands so as to
show and reveal such moral perfection seeking Allah، the
most High، satisfaction and mercy in the present world and in
the hereafter .

The present research tried to shed light on the symbolic
image which Abi Fadhl Al –Abbas ) personality represented
in its idealistic dimension as he was considered the most
prominent figure of all martyrs، the companions of Imam
Husain’s (pbuh) in Karbala through a historical reading of the
occasions of the texts and narrations by the Imams (pbuth)
praising and complimenting him . The purpose behind such
narrations was، as the research has come out with، to direct
a doctrinal and intellectual address ( speech) for the Islamic
group as the circumstances and the situations contributed to
its being directed through such texts to remove the erroneous
idea and misunderstanding Imam Husain’s (pbuh) uprising
resulting from the Umayad counter propaganda and to
connect the Ummah with the rightfulness of that revolution
and its principles and goal and also always remembering and
summoning it its tangible image through considering and
mentioning the ideal samples of the sacrifice of that uprising
of which Abi Al-Fadhl Al –Abbas (pbuh) was considered to be
the best and was at its top .

The study of the combatant techniques of Al- Abbas bin Ali
(pbuth ) is considered worthy of research as this personality has
not got sufficient treatment and research . Here، it is possible to
shed light on some of his Jihady course through focusing on
the happenings which took place before Al- Taff Battle in 61
A.H . which was considered a starting point and an initiative for
that Battle .
The most prominent Jihady stage of Al- Abbas (bpuh)
course was his contribution in Al- Taff Battle . Consequently،
the research was entitled Al- Abbas bin Ali bin Abi Talib (pbuth )
Stands In Al- Taff Battle : First Water Expedition As An Example
to reflect its details and to be in accordance with the linguistic
citations and evidence given .
Imam Husain (pbuh) assigned and considered his brother Al-
Abbas (pbuh) as the center and for all his movements since his
arrival to Karbala and considered his participation in the Battle
to be the victory itself was he is the core and pivot of his army
. The present research showed and mentioned the narrations
said on Al- Abbas bin Ali (pbuth) as they were studied in detail
to reveal Al- Abbas (pbuh) status and rank in the battle field
and how courageous he was in addition to his showing no
hesitation and his making emergent and necessary decisions
which he showed to the supreme leadership represented by
Imam Husain (pbuh) both before and through Al- Taff Battle .
Due to the lack of the historical sources in this regard together
with the shortage and limitation of the military knowledge of the
narrators of Al- Abbas (pbuh) expedition makes it impossible for any researcher to build a thorough understanding of all
the military procedures Al- Abbas has taken in addition to the
ignorance present researchers have given to this expedition .
The present research fell into two main sections . Section
one was entitled، the Significance of the Expedition، talking
about the importance of Al- Abbas leadership of the majority
and great number of Imam Husain 's (pbuh) army in a typical
combatant way so as to bring water to Al- Husainy's camp after
the blockade set by Yazeed bin Muawiyah army and mentioning
the mandatory state of prescribing right power represented by
Imam Husain (pbuh) on the second side through analyzing the
historical narrations and showing more details on the expedition
.
Section two، on the other hand، was entitled The Strategy
of the Expedition and was mainly concerned with significant
details regarding the time of going to the water and the number
of those who went with him in addition to the power and ability،
both military and morale، each side had ending with what
the expedition had come out with . The research ended with
mentioning the most important conclusions and a list of the
references used،O،peace be upon you،Abo Al- fadhl Al- Abbas
; you who owned and had control over the water and you as
such the master of water all over the centuries

Abu Al-Fadhl Al –Abbas (pbuh) is considered one of the great figures
whose imprint and effect are clearly seen all through the Islamic route due
to his self – sacrifice ( Jihad ) and his knowledge and intellect issued on
all levels،the intellectual، the scientific and the sociological that he adopted
all through his virtuous age in spite of his being died martyr in his youth .
However، he could be a considerable pole and high figure for whom history
would honourably bend and bow and would kiss the ground and the earth
stepped on by such a martyr and scholar as Abi Al-Fadhl Al –Abbas (pbuh).
Through writing these papers، it is hoped that part of the intellectual
injustice that Al –Abbas (pbuh) the eminent man، has suffered from all
through the ages and then we show the way the lovers of Abi- Al-Fadhl
Al –Abbas ‘(pbuh) virtues move across and towards Al –Abbas’ virtues
so as to be acquainted with the features of his biography and his good
traits and also glimpses of his freehanded knowledge an intellect and then
swim in the obvious roles he adopted to get some of his ethics،knowledge،
perception،policies and thoughts which one uses to build oneself and then
to contribute to the conscious construction of one’s society .
In this paper،we desired to defend the high prestige of Abi Al-Fadhl Al –
Abbas (pbuh) against the injustice and the wrong- doings directed towards
Abi Al-Fadhl Al –Abbas (pbuh) by those writers deceived by money ( dollar)
whose points of view were highly restricted as they devalued the rank and
prestige of Abi Al-Fadhl Al –Abbas، one of holy men of Islam .
This research fell into two sections : the first was on his (Abi Al-Fadhl Al
–Abbas) biography and his family and the second included an anthology ( a
group) of some texts about him giving detailed and scientific investigation
and study . Numbers were also used to make it easy for readers to follow
and that was followed by a conclusion

Imam Husain's (pbuh) revolution ( uprising) had a fundamental
role in regerierating the Islamic religion through the great sacrifice
by، Imam Husain's (pbuh)، the master of martyrs together with a
number of loyalist men represented by some martyrs of Ahlul –
Bait of Imam Husain’s (pbuh) : his brother،his sons،his cousins in
addition to his companions ( May Allah accept their deeds) .
The master of those was a man called Al- Abbas bin Abi Talib
( pbuth) who was considered the most prominent figure after
Imam Husain’s (pbuh) in Karbala Battle and who had honourable
characteristics and great ones which are rarely found but with holy
men and sons of the master of the holy men . Allah، the Almighty،has
provided such a man with features of solemnity : power،courage،
pride and rescue and with features of comeliness : sovereignty،
generousity and courteousness together with helping the poor in
addition to cheerfulness، handsomeness and signs of faithfulness
on his forehead .
The most prominent of such features was his Jihad for the sake
of Allah، the Almighty with his Imam Husain’s (pbuh)، the most
holy and pious man and the grandson of the Holy Prophet (pbuh&
progeny) scarifying his soul for him .
To fulfill this goal the research fell into eight entries and sections
with an introduction . Finally it has been proved that Abi Al- Fadhl
Al- Abbas (pbuh) has undoubtedly been called Al- Mujahid Al-
Badry whose characteristics were exactly like Al- Badriyeen .

Human history is full of successive happenings. If one has a look
at this so as to know the leaders and great men، one will be attracted
by pages with musk odor and with breeze full of ambergris .
One of these human examples and great men، a personality of
which history has recorded its personality and course with letters of
divine lights and brilliance ; this personality of which led its present
life into human perfection and into virtues ; a personality that
worshipped no god but Allah،the One and Only and that kneeled
to no one but to Allah، the One and Only . As a consequence Allah،
the Most High، has raised this personality to highness and has put
him with His Prophets and the flites .
This great personality is called Al- Abbas bin Ali bin Abi Talib
(pbuth ) .
This is why my pen has started to write this present research
entitled Al- Abbas bin Ali bin Abi Talib Speeches : A Stylistic
Approach .
The present study fell into four sections . Section one dealt with
the Speeches said by Al- Abbas ( pbuh) whereas section two was
concerned with the phonological and phonetic level . Section three
was about the structural level . Section four، on the other hand،was
concerned with the semantic level .
The study ended with a conclusion including the most important
results the researcher came out with .
