The goal of this study was intend to study the effects of induced

thyrotoxicosis on the histological structure of submandibular gland.

Two groups of mature albino mice wen: used, the first group was injected (subcutaneous) daily with (0.2_0.4)ml norma] salinfor 11 days and used as control group, while the second group was injected daily wi th L_thyroxin (T4) 0.2mg /Kg (subcutaneous) for l l days.

At the end of the treatment , supmandibular glands were processed for light microscopic examination .

The result.s have shown the presence of degenertaive changes of major submandibular acini cells in animal treated with thyroxin with diminishing amounts of connective tissuelements . Beside these change infiltration with inflammatory cells were observed . From this study we can conclude that there is a relationship between thyroid gland and submandibular gland . Which might regulated the secretory activity of saliva .

The study was aims to evaluate the antimicrobial acttvtty of petroleum ether extracts from leaves , seeds and root of Zygophyllum fabago , against several microorganisms including gram negative bacteria (Pseudomonas aeruginosa & Escherichia coli), gram positive bacteria (Staphylluwccus aureus & Bacillus subtilis), in addition to yeast (Candida albicans).

While the results of sensitivity of the microorganisms to words petroleum ether extracts showed different activity , petrolewn ether extract of seeds showed more antimicrobial activity compared to the other extracts , followed by leaves and roots extracts.

Concerning the bacterial isolates B. subtilis was more sensitive, its growth inhibited by leaves, seeds and roots extract of Z. fabago, MIC

was ( IOd·20) mgfml, followed by S. aureus MIC was (20d 30) mgfml, then E. coli was (30·10·50) mgjml, where as P. acruginosa MIC was (50·20·30) mg/ml. finally C. albicans which was the most resistant for all extracts (leaves, seeds, roots) and MIC was (50•20•30) mgfml.

Analysis of petrolewn ether extracts from leaves, seeds and root

from Z. fabago was carried out to detennine its contents from terpenoid compounds.

The present i nvocation was carried out to demonstrate the percentage of bacter ial contamination of both the preservation fluid and lens oonlainers. Fifty­ two contact lenses users among female students and em I ployees of

college of Education-Ibn Al- Haitham were surveyed. Data were

obtained on methodof usage and results of microbial examination. The following points were reached. 1- Gram-negative bacteria were the most common ones, especially Pseudomonas aero!{inosa with

The inhibitory effect concentrated filtrate of local Lactobaciilus

gasseri against Candida albicans and Trichophyton mentagrophytes, T ruhrum and Aspergillus flavus which were isolated from infected cases in human beings, tested using two methods :well diffu ion and

Mixed with the mold medium (Sabouraud agar).

The results showed that the concentrated filtrate of L. gasseri have

inhibitory effect against Cundida ulbicans, the inhibition zone was 13 mm. As well as, the concentrated tiltrate inhibited, considerably Trichophyton mentagrophytes, T. rubrum and Aspergillus jlavus growth when the filtrate was mixed with Sabouraud agar, the inhibition activity was (57.6 , 41.2 , 66.6 )% against Trichophyton mentagrophytes, T.rubrum andAspergillusflavu.'i respectively.

Results showed that concentrated filtrate of L.gasseri showed strong activity against T. mentagrophytest spores gcrminatio!l (the inhibition was 79.45%) by Mixing Lhfiltrate with the mold medium (Sabouraud agar).

New Derivatives for Known P- Jactam antibiotics were

synthesized utilizing the free amino group pres nt in the parent compounds as the site for derivatization. The objectives for this study

are to have new compounds which could have an increased potential resistance to the degradative enzymes knowing to be able to destroy

the antibacterial activity of 13· lactam antibiotics- Besides. these new

derivatives could be congeners of known agents, or may be a

pott:ntial pro-drugs for these agents.

A local isolate Bacillus subtilis was used, which producing

thennophilic complex enzyme having similar activity of endogluganase

enzyme ( Endo-l,4-B-Dglucanase ).

Partially digested chromosomal DNA of Bacillus subtilis by Eco

Rl restriction enzyme randomly cloned into Eco Rl pSU10l shuttle vector. The resulted hybrid plasmid was transformed into protoplast of

Streptomyces sp. SH-H.

The result revealed that cellulose genes, which expressed into transfonned cells are located on chromosomal DNA fragment having size

4.5·5 kb in size.

In this research an improvement of the efficiency of vacuum microwave tube type Gl-19B had been done by activation of internal surfaces using two specific procedures which can qualify the tubes to be reused again.

The first method was the reevacuuated and heating treatment.

The second method wa:s the glow discharge method which used ro

clean the electrodes and improve the vacuum to about!o·8 mbar.

In order to study the using of both processes together, Copper

samples heated in vacuwn chamber first and then used the glow discharge technique, it was found that the lowered resistance and less roughness of the surface of the copper sample after the removal of

the oxide and the carbon materials from the surface of copper sample.

In the present work , the a2 - ratio method has been used to calculate the multipole mixing ratios , 5 - values • of y - transitions from excited levels of deformation nucleiL-. ( 152Sm ) .

The results obtained confirm the validity of this method in calculating the o - values .

The present results are in good agreement with those of the experimental results, ref.( I ,2) , and of theoretical results using interaction boson model (IBM-I) ,ref. (5).

This paper presents calculat,ion of thermal conductivity (K) of palm

leaf experimentally using Lee s disc method to be used as thermal

insulator. The therma l conducti vity is found to be equal to (k=0.03W/mK)

indicating that palm l eaf is a good thermal insulator com pared to the other insulators. The effect of the thermal insulator thickness on temperature di lTt::rence, heat transfer coefficient, thermal conductance, thermal resistance, thermal insulation are in vestigated in this paper. It was found that i ncreasi ng thickness of the good i nsulator (such as palm !eat) leads to increasing both thermal resistance and insulation while decreasing both heat transfer coefficient and thermal conductance until specific point wh ich after it they are not affected by thickness (they being constant).

First instar larvae of spiny cottcn boll wonn Earias insulana

(Bosid.) were Fed on different concentrations of biological insecticides (Agerin) and growth regulators (Match) for ( 5, 3 and one days) .The results showed that Agerin at 1.5 giL caused 99.9 , 99.9. and 96.9 % accumulative killing percentages while 0.5 g/L of this biological insecticidt::s resulted in 92.96 , 58.9 and 33.3% in the three periods of feeding above respectively . On the other hand growth inhibitor (Match) gave 99.9, 99.9 and 99.9 %accumulative killing percentage when it was used at 1.5 ml I L ; whereas the percentages

were 99.9 , 66.6 and 46.6 % when it was used 0.25 ml JL. in the same

periods respectively . Results implied also that accwnulative killing

percentages were increased with the dose and the nutritive periods . Most of the larvae died when they where fed by (match) for 5 days by using high concentrations of both insecticides, it also observed that these larvae did not complete their growth stages , yet when they were fed for 3 or one day by using low concentrations, they were able to complete there life cycle accompanied with delay of larvae stage period and abnormal behavior of the larvae in their color, slow movement and less appetite. The growth regulator (Match) however, was more effective in mortality percentage for the larvae stage as compared with biological insecticide (Agerin).

This study was concerned with the adsorption of Toluene ,0·

nitro Toluene and 2,4.dinitro Toluene on The surface of kaolin clay.

The adsorption isotherms were of types( S3,S4 ) according to Giles classification and were in a good correlation with Freundlich equation in the range of cuncenlraliuns studied. The re5ult indicated that adsorption capacity increase with the increase of equilibrium concentration. The effect of the nwnber of substituted nitro groups in the adsorption extent of toluene was found to decrease in the following order:·

Toluene > 2,4-dinitro toluene > 0-nitro toluene

Adsorption on kaolin surface were examined as afunction of temperature in the range (298·328K) .1he extent of adsorption was found to increase with the increase in temperature (Endothennic).

Adsorption studies of Toluene on kaolin at different pH values

showed the following sequence:- pH 4 > 11 > 7

While for O·nitro toluene and 2,4-dinitro toluene showed the

following order:- pH 11 > 4> 7

Comparative study on tb.e activity of phospholipase enzyme which is produced by yeastآ cum/ida albicansآ آ into different culture media that contain phospholipids as substrates. The agar containing substrate (L-aآ­ phosphatidyl inositol) was used .

The agar containing lecithin as other substrate for comparision was also

used.

The second culture media was found the best for enzyme activity which

was measured by precipitation zone .

The physicochemical properties of drinking water in six different and limited sites on Euphrates River in Babylon governorate were studied during the year of2004.

Different parameters including (pH), alkalinity, turbidity, total hardness, magnesium, calcium, chloride and total dissolved solids in water were determined. It was found that the total hardness and the total dissolved solids were higher than those registered in the previous studies on Tigris

River sites.

Generally, the levels of these parameters were found to be within the

allowed ranges of human uses, except the total hard:1ess.

The reaction of poly (vinyl alcohol) (PV A) with Urea in (DMSO)

Several amine liquid selective electrodes were prepared based on

two active materials, phenol sulfonic acid and l ,2-dihydroxy-3,5- disulfonic acid disodium salt with several plasticizers, di-n-butyl phthalate(ORPH), tri-n-butyl phosphate (TBP) and a-nitro phenyl octyl ether (NPOE). Electrode parameters were studied including, concentration range, detection limit, slope, life time, response time and pH effect. Excellent results were obtained based on n-hyptyl

methyl amine with DBPH and phenol sulfonic acid as an active

material. The slope was 56.g mY/decade, concentration range was ranged from 1o·' M to 1o-4 M with correlation coefficient of 0.9999, detection limit of 6 x l o-) M and pH ranged from 5.6 to less than one.

Electrode based on tri-hutyl amine as a secondary amine gives a slope

48.4 mV/decade with good results for the other parameters, but for dccyl amine as a primary runine give very poor response. Electrodes based on secondary and tertiat)' amines gives very poor response because incompatibility of NOPE with active material and pvc. Also the study was carried out for a second active material 1,2-dihydroxy-

3,5-disulfonic acid disodium salt and also a good results were obtained.

A direct spectrophotometric method has been developed for the

determination of nitrite in aqueous solution. The method is based on the reaction of the nitritw ion with an acidified anline solution from diazonium cation , which is subsequently coupled ·with 4,6 - dihydroxy- 2- mercapto pyrimidine to from yellow colored and water

- soluble intense azo dye with maximum absorption at 416nm . A

graph of absorbance versus concentration shows that Bee's Laws

Image processing is an important source for the image

Attack stream cipher system , using cipher text only , depends on the characteristics of plain teKt language and the randomness of the key , that used in encryption , without having detailed k.nuwh:dgt:: uf cipher algorithm by benefiting from the balance between O's and I' in the key to reduce the probability of key space.
