This research is divided into two parts. The first part investigates the different tasks of the two major fields of Linguistics (Theoretical and Applied). The theoretical Linguistics aims at identifying the general principles of structure and function of language whereas Applied Linguistics endeavors to apply the ideas and methods of linguistics to practical problems of particular concern to language teaching. Componential analysis forms the second part of this research. It is the systematic way to describe the similarities and dissimilarities between words by breaking down the meaning of word or words into deferent feature called Semantic Component.

For the purpose of analysis, the researcher discusses mainly the idea of whether theoretical linguistics is of potential value in teaching vocabulary or not. To achieve this aim, an approach to English vocabulary language teaching which draws on several aspects of theoretical semantics has been adopted to show that language includes not only a list of words, but rather of many associated networks of lexical relations between words. To end the researcher, it is arrived at that the Semantic Field Theory is a useful approach for acquiring the lexical items of language.

Comprehension in a foreign language entails the learner’s ability to understand sentence propositions. The higher level of proposition, the greater probability of it being recalled and comprehended. This study is concerned with the extent that foreigner learners’ comprehension is affected by two factors: arrangement of sentences in the text and the presence or absence of the topic sentence(TS).
The study aims at measuring college students’ ability in comprehending expository paragraphs through a set of experiments in which (60) second-year and fourth-year students were assigned a recognition task and a production task to reveal their comprehension. The results indicate that these students performed better with the presence of TS although the fourth-year students outperformed the second-year students in this respect. However, both groups rated low in the production task in comparison with the first task but with the exception of the fourth-year group again achieving better than the junior group and this might be attributed to the fact that the senior group are more acquainted with the language than the junior group.

The research deals with the translation of English collocations into Arabic. A collocation is a combination of two or more words that always occur together consistently in different contexts in language.
The present paper hypothesizes that students encounter difficulties in translating English collocations into Arabic. An experiment has been made involving twenty students of fourth year /College of Education, University of Basrah.
The results of the tests come up with the hypothesis of the study that 70% of the testees face difficulties in the translation of English collocations into Arabic. The research has ultimately identified certain problems and solutions.

This research tackles the critical opinion of Ibn Dahyah in his book (Al- Mutrib min Ashaar Ahl Al-Mghrib ) and tries to shed the light on all the issues which the critic deals with in an attempt to examine his opinions in the poetry of the Andalusian and the east He clarifies his views in that kind of poetry ' but in another hand he does not interpret the critical idioms ' because it is out of his interest ' The problems that he discusses are the verbal sign and the meaning ' criticism of rhetoric' exaggeration and hyperbole as well as literary plagiarism ' He has a new critical opinions ' Al- Mutrib is the most important lierary and critical source in Al- Andalus because the author mentions great figures whom we don’t have any information s about them ' except in Al- Mutrib such as ; Yusuf Ibn Haarun Al – Ramaadi ' yahya Al- Ghzaal and Ibn Abd Rabbihi.

The research parake of two famous poems for Ebn – Dourad (died in 321 H. ) in ( AL – Maksor and AL – Mamdod ) and it try to discovering the linguistic effort of setracture and indicative for Arabic semantic words in these poems . the number of one of these poems has (231 lins ) and ithad been explaining by ( Eben – Khalawayh ) (died in 370 H. ) while the other poeme has ( 54 lines ) and had been explaining by ( AL – Anbary ) died in ( 328 H. ) and research show examples … for these two poems with a com partion between their explaining throughout their … with the subscriber amangst them in words .

Al-Jawahiri has expressed his sadness and sorrow to the death of his relatives. The nature of the death has a great impact on him. He is creative in the elegy of his wife, brother and cousin where he expresses deep sorrow. His elegy to some political officials is regarded as a remarkable record to political as well as social events. In addition he expresses his political attitude in these elegies. He plays a vital role in disclosing the ideas tackled by elegy poets showing the loss of the society to the death of those thinkers.

This research work is on the ammatical instructions provided by the Quranic Readings as cited in Johari’s Sihah. First , a brief biography of Al-Johari is presented. Then , his sources of identifying a Quranic reading as well as his introduction concerning each reading are referred to.
The most important conclusion arrived at by the research worker is that Al-Johari has calculated 123 (one hundred and twenty-three) readings. He refers to both very familiar as well as the rare readings. He cites a number of Al-Akhfash’s readings and one of Ibn Sikeet. As far as the number of readings related to grammatical instruction approaches 11 only .

This research deals with the Subject of “ Returning Alajiz to Alsadir” in an eloquent way based on a comparison between its occurrence in sura of Al-Baqara and its occerence in reses of sura of Al Omran . This research includes a detailed and statistical study of these two holy suras .
The study contains an introduction and three chapters .
Chapter One : deals with the meaning of subjects from the side of language and terminology .
Chapter Two : Shows the view points of specialists in counted in these two holy suras . The number of its occurence and the meaning it carries are shown in this study as they appear in rerses . They also have a role in achiving the social and economical aims for all countries . Both the small and middle industries compose the percentage of 85% of the total number of the working transformational factories in the countries of Gulf cooperation council . These industries also face many problems and obstacles cause to their unsettlement state from one country to another within the council . For that purpose the current research was written to identify to identify the nature of these industries from the point of studying their concept , their importance , and their state inside the countries of Gulf cooperation council . In addition to studying the challenges facing the development of these industries in the current technological development and the effect of globalization on it.

in almost all fields of knowledge but the world of the library and library information all over the Arab homeland can be considered to be as an exception. Hence, the significance of the study stems from its novelty in the area under investigation since it aims at raising the awareness of the role to be played by the creative librarian who encourages initiatives.
A questionnaire has been distributed to identify the barriers the creative librarian and his team might possibly face in their field of work. The sample consists of 15 specialists and 15 non-specialist subjects. Statistics has been applied to trace back the effect of the management that calls for creativity and change.
Depending on her results, the researcher arrived at a good number of conclusions such as the following:
Certain criteria have to be set to control and guide the conduct and product of the librarian and his creative team.
This team has to be encouraged to introduce initiatives that help the librarian make the promising change.
The library should be supported financially to the extent that it makes it possible for the librarian to cope with all required creative change.

The present study aims at knowing the effectivenss of using teaching Strategy:(brain storming) on the achievement of the first stage students in Technical Institute- Basrah in mathematics. The research sample contained (95) students (male and Female) distributed into two experiment group in Technical Institute-Basrah. The first experiment group contained (47) students (male and Female) who have been tough by the strategy(brain storming), while the second had (48) students (male and Female) who have been tough by the strategy (normal method), during the second course study (Three months long) the subjects of the course, were (definition and leangh Vector, redusing and addition vectores, dot product, cross product, the triple scalar product). In order to know and measure the range of a( multi choice and true and false ) test containing (40) paragraph have been made. Besides, T-test have been used for independent samples, and the results are statistical significant differences between the achievement mean of the (male and female) students of the first experiment group and the achievement mean of the second group to the students of first experimental group.
