Faulkner's As I Lay Dying abounds with various kinds of linguistic deviations
to such an extent that they might be considered as being one of the most prominent
stylistic markers in the novel above. They have been explored throughout this
paper according to the various levels of linguistic analysis: phonological level,
syntactic level, morphological level, lexical level, and semantic level. Moreover, the
deviations scored throughout the novel are employed specifically for literaryaesthetic purposes. Though the deviations are not confined to one level at the
expense of the others, they have been characterized by various degrees in terms of
their limits of deviance and aesthetic employment. Consequently, some levels of
deviation have been foregrounded against the others insofar as the aesthetic
function of language is concerned. Thus, the syntactic and semantic levels of
deviation proved more radical and important than the other ones. Nevertheless,
this does not deny the purposeful interconnectedness of the core levels of the
language in As I Lay Dying without which we will lose a crucial part of our
attempt to understand what Faulkner has written.

This paper represents an attempt to investigate some errors in writing free composition
which are commonly committed by students of first stage Department of English , college of
Education , University of Thi-Qar . It is believed that the paper would shed light on the type or
the nature of such errors as well as the reasons behind committing them .
The paper falls in the domain of error analysis . The area of research is interested is interested in
investigation the various types of errors which the language users may commit . According to
Crystal (1980 : 38) , in language
teaching and learning error analysis is :
“a technique for identifying , classifying , and systematically interpreting the mistakes made by
someone learning a foreign language , using any of the principles and procedures provided by
linguistics “ .See also Corder (1973 :115)
It is hoped that the findings of this paper would be of some benefit to the teaching staff at the
Departments of English at Iraqi universities , syllabus designers and linguists , especially those
who are interested in error analysis and English as aForeign Language(EFL).

This research describes the problem of lexical choice and the representations of
world knowledge. This is done by shedding light on some confusing words in
English (Appendix 1). This study has two hypotheses: the Iraqi undergraduates at
the Department of English/ College of Education/ University of Thi-Qar face
difficulty in recognizing and producing the confusing words in English and the
undergraduates at the first, second, third and fourth years do not make the
progress of semantic knowledge as it should be when they move from one year
into another. To confirm the two hypotheses, two recognition and production tests
are designed. The jury members have given valuable suggestions about their
validity, easiness/difficulty and time that the testees need to answer. The tests aim
at finding out whether the subjects are able to recognize and produce the
confusing words in English and which progress they achieve when they are in an
advanced year. Depending on the results of the two tests, the two hypotheses are
confirmed. The undergraduates are unable to recognize and produce the
confusing words easily but their receptive knowledge is better than productive
one. Furthermore, the first year subjects are better than the second year ones in
their responses and similarly the third year subjects have correct responses more
than their fourth year competitors while the latter are better than the second year
subjects. So it is a matter of language knowledge (keeping more vocabulary in
mind in addition to other aspects of language) not of the stages at which they are
studying.

The study represents a numerical investigation onto the behavior of a plate with
hole, or number of holes by finite element method. The investigated specimens are
subjected to a direct tension stresses acting parallel to the axis of the plate.
Initially the plate contain one hole at the center of plate, the diameter of this
hole was changed to study the effect of this variation on stress concentration.
Also , the effect of number of holes onto the stress concentration were studied
by taken a plate with one hole, two holes, three holes and four holes distributed
along the plate axis. In each study all the holes had the same diameter.
Finally the effect of the distance between the centers of holes were studied by
taken a plate with four holes at the same distance each other, then these distances
varied uniformly.
All results were obtained using a program called ANSYS.

This study carried out in Thi-Qar governorate during the period from2000
till 2002 . Atotal of 2152 patients visting three important hospital in Thi-Qar
province were found infected with scabies disease .
The result appeared 772 patients in 2000 ,886 patients in 2001 and 494 patients
in 2002 infected with S.scabiei . The current study revealed high infection in AlNasirya district 581 patients with 26.9% and less peak of infection in Al-Refai
district 355 patients with 16.4% .

A development numerical method to analyze a conductor-backed coplanar
waveguide structure , including the effects of a dielectric capacitor layer and
metallization . It is based on a symmetrical super condensed node transmission line
matrix method . The propagation parameters and the scattering properties for the
node
are given , together with simulation numerical examples and comparisons by
results available from other methods

The one-dimensional transient heat conduction equation, in spherical
coordinates, is solved with convective surface boundary conditions during aircooling using separation of variable analytical method. The calculation began with
the transformation of the spherical coordinate to the rectangular coordinate to
simplify the problem. The calculated temperature for spherical food
products(apples and potatoes) are compared with measured values whom in the
literature, and a good agreement was obtained. Temperature range used. And how

A classical theory of inelastic atomic collisions is given. It is shown that
inelastic scattering ionization interaction between charged particles
(electrons) and atoms are due to the Coulomb interaction with atomic
electrons and depend in a first approximation on their binding energy
and momentum distribution. The effect of interaction between the
charged particles depends on their velocity; hence, a description of
collision processes based on Thompson and Rutherford formulas –
describing the Coulomb scattering on particles at rest, to atomic
collision- is bound to yield erroneous results if the velocity of the
particle scattered on the atom becomes comparable to, or less than,
the mean velocity of electrons in the atom. Our calculations of the
ionization cross section are in a good agreement with the theoretical
and experimental results of alkali atoms and fine for other atoms

The effects of ON-OFF keying of the channels on the four wave mixing
(FWM) in wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) networks are studied in
terms of the distribution of the actual FWM power under different
probabilities of channels states. A novel technique for estimating the average
FWM power in WDM network with ON-OFF keying is presented. With this
technique it is possible to determine the FWM power that associated with each
channel in the fiber.
