This is prospective study began in Jan. 2003 and concluded in April 2004, was undertaken to examine thebenefits of 810 nmdiode laser in treatment of four patient with bilateral vocal cord paralysis also to compare the results with conventional treatment Material and methods: 810 nm diode laser 15 watts was used in these cases under general anesthesia, and induction of anesthetic drug done through tracheostomy tube in all patients. All patients were decanulated “Tracheostomy tube removed”, the voice of all preserved within normal. Laser surgery in this case has more benefit and advantage than conventional methods even if the patient need more than on session of laser operation because of high success rate, less complication and easy technique.

The objective of this in vivo study is to investigate the effects of 337.1 nmpulsedN2laser on cellular immune response represented by lymphocyte transformation capacity and phagocytosis activity in laboratory animals. The samples include 60 adult male BALB/c mice, were divided into control group and experimental groups.The experimental groups were divided into twomain groups according to the time periodafter N2laser irradiation. Each group was divided into 9 subgroups which exposed to N2laserradiationat different values ofpulse repetition rates and exposure times. The results of immunological tests demonstrated that the exposure to180 J/cm2of N2laser radiation induce adverse effect to cellular immune response.The results of lymphocyte transformation assay showed that the capacity of lymphocyte to be transformed as response to mitogen PHA decreased only in subgroups that treated with 180 J/cm2. While in the other subgroups the percent of transformed lymphocyte cells was unaffected. The findings of phagocytosis assay showed that the activity of phagocytic cells increased only in subgroups that treated with 80 J/cm2, and decreased in subgroups that treated with 120 and 180 J/cm2.

This work aims to investigate the inhibition of vitality of Streptococcus mutans, which is the causative agent of caries. A 632.8 nm He-Ne laser with the output power of 4.5mW was used in combination with toluidine blue O (TBO) at the concentration of 50μg/ml as a photosensitizer. Streptococcus mutants was isolated from 35 patients of carious teeth. Three isolates were chosen and exposed to different energy densities of He –Ne laser light 3.8, 11.7, 34.5 and 104.1 J/cm². After irradiation, substantial reduction was observed in the number of colony forming units (CFU)/ ml. The reduction in the number of CFU was increasing as the dose increased
