Abstract
This study examines the role of Qur’anic readings (qirāʾāt) in resolving ambiguities within the Holy Qur’an. It presents applied examples that demonstrate how variations among these readings contribute to clarifying meanings and eliminating vagueness. The study underscores that the qirāʾāt h ave long been among the most significant tools employed by Qur’anic exegetes to address interpretative challenges, owing to their linguistic depth and semantic richness.
Adopting an inductive–analytical methodology, the research surveys selected examples from major exegetical works where ambiguity is resolved through different readings. The findings reveal that the variations among readings are complementary rather than contradictory, collectively enriching Qur’anic interpretation and affirming the unity of its meaning. Furthermore, the qirāʾāt function as a precise exegetical instrument that guides interpretation, removes ambiguity, and reflects both the vastness of the Arabic language and the miraculous eloquence of the Qur’anic text.
