During a period of nine months from January 2006 to September 2006.
Sixty –two cases of shigellosis were collected at Nassiria Pediatric hospital
( Age ranged from one day to five years). A total of 317 cases suffering form
bloody diarrhea , out of 317 stool samples , 62 bacterial isolates were
obtained represent 19.5% from all cases of diarrhea ,The isolates identified
were, Shigella dysenteriae , Shigella sonnei , Shigella boydii , and Shigella
flexneri .The percentage of each are , 22(35.4%) , 19(30.6%) , 13(20.9%) ,
8(12.9%) respectively . Shigellosis was predominant in those below one year
of age (32.2%) .The concentration of total protein level in the serum of
children with shigellosis was normal in all age groups , while albumin was low
, alpha 1 – globulin concentration was high , alpha 2 –globulin increased
slightly with advancing age , beta – globulin concentration in serum of
children was normal , gamma globulin concentration was slightly elevated in
most age groups . Forty – seven children (75.8%) are found to have high level
of lmmunoglobulins concentration while fifteen children ( 24.2%) have low

Endosulfan, polycyclic organochlorine pesticide contaminating aquatic ecosystem as a potential toxic pollutants, was investigated in the present study for acute toxicity. The immature and adult gastropods Lymnaea Radix cor were selected for the bioassay experiments. The 96 h LC 50 2were determined for the both stages. Data obtained from endosulfan acute toxicity tests were evaluated using the Probit Analysis Statistical Program. The 96h LCfor immature and adult snails were estimated as, (0.38) and (0.91) mg/l, respectively.

The objective is to study the behavior of 7 varieties of durum wheat, under sub-humid climate (soft and rainy winter and dry and hot summer) and a clay soil and weak organic matter rates. Among the 7 varieties, 5 are from France and 2 from Algeria. During the vegetation’s growth, we studied the biological parameters for each variety in the laboratory of the Institute of Agriculture of Blida (Algeria) in 2005 and the results were interpreted statistically. The best results were given by V2, V3, and V4 in terms of grains number and V5 in terms of quality

The inbreeding coefficient refers to the degree of advancing of any society. In 2006 an experiment was conducted to find the inbreeding coefficient in the middle Euphrates area of Iraq (Al-Qadisiyia and Babylon) and to study the relationship between the related and unrelated marriages as well as reproductive parameters. Results indicated that inbreeding coefficient was (F=0.0167). The percentage of unrelated marriage was higher in ( Al-Qadisiyia 44.9% compared to Babylon 36.5%) and the total was 55.3% Non–fertile families in middle Euphrates region was 2.5% No relationship was found between fertility outcome and consanguineous, non-consanguineous marriage.

In this paper , preparation and characterization of some tetra azo
compounds .Azo coupling of 3`,3,4`,4- tetra amino biphenyl with phenol and some phenol derivatives in alkaline solution gave azo dyes. I.R and U.V. visible spectra were recorded to identify the three azo compounds prepared . Some physical and chemical properties such as molar absorption coefficient in different pH value and maximum absorption λ maxwere investigated. The biological effect of these dye against two gram positive Bacteria (S.aureuse)
and other two gram negative Bacteria (P.aeruginosa) is presented .

In this paper, the concept of regular line graph has been introduced. The maximum number of vertices with different degrees in the regular line graphs
has also been studied. Further, the necessary and sufficient condition for regular line graph to be bipartite graph have also been proved.

In this study;the windows of (He-Ne) laser multilayer antireflection
coating have been designed from materials MgF
as external layer with
refractive index (1.38) and ZnS as internal layer with refractive index (2.35)
deposited on BK-7 glass that have refractive index (1.52). Five layers with

optical path equal quarter wavelength (/4) theoretically and experimentally,
and another way, five layers with middle layer (/2) theoretically were used.
The all designs are dealing with them in the wavelength less than design of
wavelength with clear difference of the theoretical design with middle layer
(/2) at design wavelength. The value of minimum reflectance to one about
(0.002) at (680) nm theoretically and (0.0081) at (590)nm while experimentally
about (0.69) at (650)nm. Another way we obtains on refraction about (0.0040)
in a wide range from wavelength (450 - 690)nm when the seven layer with
optical path equal quarter wavelength (/4) theoretically were designed .

An isospin magnetic system with spin values S=1 is studied for square and
simple cubic lattice, the curie temperature has been calculated for these
lattices based on the usual Oguchi approximation (OA).Within this scheme
considered here, four atoms are considered where the three nearest-neighbor
spin correlation are taken into account when the Hamiltonian is derived. The
results for the critical temperature are remarkably accurate comparing to the
effective field ones.

The effect of different levels of solutions salinity and acidity on the
mortality of mosquitoes Anopheles sp. have been studied. The results
showed that the mortality percentage was differed according to the
solution concentrations, acidity level, and the exposure period. The
highest mortality ratio was 98.39% at salt concentration of 20g/L after
exposure period of 72 hours; For acidity level the highest mortality ratio
was 97.27% at exposure period of 72 hours

100 samples of patients with bladder cancer who were recorded
in general Al-Nassiriya General Hospital (NGH) in 2006 were
determined in this study.The results indicate that the rate of bladder
cancer n male(73%)was more than the rate of bladder cancer in
female(23%). The age periods(50-59years)and(60-69years)were high
in bladder cancer compare with other age periods .The bladder cancer
cases in Al-Nassiriya city were more than the cases in other cities in
Thi-Qar governorate .The results indicated that there are relationship
between bladder cancer and some social and pathogenic cases such
smoking,coffe intake, Schistosoma haematobium.............etc

This study was performed on (85) diabetic patients , classified as follows : 43 patients of type I (25 male and 18 femels) and 42 patients of type II (24 males and 18 femels .In addition , 55 healthy subjects were investigated as a control group. Both types showed a highly significant increase (P=0.0001) in blood glucose level ; 12.00 ± 3.96 mmole/l and 13.52 ±3.96 mmole/ l . for type I and II respectively compared to healthy subjects 4.63± 0.66 mmmole/l . This study also included the estimation of different biochemical parameters (Glycated hemoglobin HbA1c and malondialdehyde (MDA) in diabetic patients, in which both types showed a highly significant increase (P=0.0001) in blood HbA1 level 7.16 ± 0.62 μmole/l and 8.66 ± 0.50 μmole/l for type I and II respectively compared to healthy subjects 3.83 ± 0.40 μmole/l and in MDA level ; 12.22 ± 3.96 nmole/l and 13.52 ± 3.96 nmole/l for type I and II respectively compared to healthy subjects ; 14.63 ± 0.66 mole/l . The results of this study revealed a positive correlation of blood glucose level with glycated hemoglobin HbA; c for diabetic patients –type I( Correlation Coefficient =0.397) and type II (Correlation Coefficient =0.388 ) . Blood glucose level had a positive correlation also with malondialdehyde ( MDA) with correlation Coefficient =0.609 and 0.627 for type I and type II respectively .

This study was designed to investigate the effect of the hypertension
duration on the enzymatic antioxidants (SOD,Catalase) in hypertensive
patients .The study was performed on 85 hypertensive patients (38 male
,47 female ),compared to 75 healthy subjects (37 male ,38 female )were
investigated as a control group .
The study showed a significant increase in specific activity of
antioxidant enzymes ;SOD and catalase compared to healthy subjects
.While there was a significant decrease in specific activity of these
enzymes as the hypertension duration increased .A positive correlation
between SOD activity and atherogenic index was also shown

An incubation experiment was carried out to study the effect of municipal waste water on the efficiency of some urease inhibitors in soil. Waste water was collected from external basin of Hamdan industrial station, Basrah province and was passed through sand filter , then added to either loamy sand soil ( from AL-Zubair region) or silt loam soil ( from Qarma Ali region ) treated with urea at level of
200 mg N / Kg soil and with following urease inhibitor : phenylmercuric acetate ( PMA ), ammonium thiosulfate ( ATS ), or Tannic acid ( TA ). Urease inhibitors added to soil at concentration of 0 , 0.5 and 5.0 % w/w of urea. Shatt – AL-Arab water was used as control treatment of waste water. Treated soils incubated at 30 ± 2°C and urease activity was assayed after 5 and 25 days, then urease inhibition percentages were calculated. Results showed that efficiency of all urease inhibitors significantly increased in soil treated with waste water compared with those treated with Shatt – AL-Arab water. PMA caused highest urease inhibition compared with TA and ATS at all soils used. Data also revealed that highest urease inhibition was obtained in loamy sand soil compared with silt loam soil. Based on results obtained from incubation experiment, PMA at level of 5.0 % used in pot trial of tomato plant.

Gill structure of Barbus sharpeyi (Gunther) juveniles has been
studied, they were exposed to various concentrations of copper. Gill
damage resulting from exposure to sub lethal concentrations.
Histological changes in the gills included hyperplasia of the gill tissue,
some engorgement with bleeding in the secondary lamellae, epithelial
separation, necrosis, and fusion of adjacent secondary lamellae. The
result of experiment shows that the behavior of susceptible fishes to
high concentration(3ppm) after 3 hr. of exposure to the ion, starting
with swimming close to water surface circulation movement and
hemorrhage in gill lamella.

In this study we focused on adding (Dodecyl Benzene Ammonium Sulphonate)
and this adding was in form of different ratio of these additive to the matrix of
Iraqi cement (Om Quasar factory for cement). The prepared samples was in
form of cubic and evaluated as they were treated with moisture treatment. All
the prepared samples had a proportion of 3/1) cement to sand) and in the form
of cubes with aside (50 mm) long. The weight rate of (Dodecyl Benzene
Ammonium Sulphonate) to the cement was (1%-8%). The obtained results
showed that the cement mixture that had the weight rate of 2% at moisture
curing is the best as it has good mechanical properties (compressive strength
near to pure samples). Also this kind of surfactant have an opposite effect on
mechanical properties and this effect is related to adding ratio and curing time.
The effect of surfactant (Dodecyl Benzene Ammonium Sulphonate) works as
plasticizer on cement matrix so the application range of used cement specially
in oil well where these applications need flexible cement with high workability

This statistical research contains the measuring the variation of human
development level in Iraq in 1997 by using an important statistical method
and the data of the statistical survey in 1997 , in the order to get knowledge
about the effect of some factory on the human development like (water , level
of education ,………, etc) more than other factors in the Iraqi governorates
(except Kurdistan) we find these factors are very effective on the human
development level especially in AL-Mothanna governorate which has the
lowest development level and then mesan, AL-Kadessiyah , Thi-Qar and
Waset .

This paper we suggest some one & two stage shrunken estimators for
reliability function of exponential distribution by using complete data .The
shrunken factor is variable we find it by minimizing mean squared error for
The suggest estimators .The bias, mean squared error and relative efficiency
expressions are derived theoretically and assessed practically by using monte-
carlo simulation . The results show the suggested estimators have better
performance then classical estimators .
