“The points of Sound and Their Interactions in the Holy Qur`an for Humans: A Phonetic Lexical Study”

Abstract

This research addresses the lexical and phonetic aspects of sound articulation in the
Holy Qur`an for humans, and the extent of their interaction, to demonstrate the Qur’anic linguistic miracle in terms of pronunciation and meaning. Lt clarifies the selection of
words phonetically and semantically to help understand the depth of the meanings in the
Qur’anic text. A Qur’anic text was selected that includes verses from the Holy Qur`an. Then,
the sound points were extracted from it. The research analyzes how the human being
uses these sounds in terms of lowering and raising the voice, which includes (12) sound
points, among them: (5) sounds that use a low tone, and (7) sounds that use a high tone.
The research tackles its topic through two parts: First: low-pitched sound points and their
interaction with humans. Second: High-pitched sound points and their interaction with
humans. The research employs a descriptive analytical approach (with a linguistic stylistic
nature), which involves enumerating the sounds and analyzing their contexts in the selected Qur’anic text to identify their interactions and effects. Among the results reached: the
frequent use of high-pitched sounds (7), and their repetition, while low-pitched sounds (5)
were few despite their repetition.

يتنــاول هــذا البحــث الجانــب المعجمــي والصــوتي لألفــاظ الصــوت في (القــرآن الكريــم) للإنســان ومــدى
تفاوتهـا فيـا بينهـا؛ وذلـك لإظهـار مـدى الإعجـاز القـرآني مـن حيـث اللفـظ والمعنـى وبيـان دقـة اختيـار الألفـاظ
ً وتناسـقها صوتي ًـا وسـياقا للمسـاعدة عـى فهـم أعمـق للغـة العربيـة والقـرآن الكريـم، وقـد اعتمدنـا في اختيـار
مـادة البحـث مـن القـرآن الكريـم، راصديـن بذلـك ألفـاظ صـوت الإنسـان ومـدى التفـاوت فيـا بينهـا، وكيفيـة
اسـتعال الإنسـان لهـذه الألفـاظ مـن ناحيـة خفـض الصـوت وارتفاعـه، والتـي بلـغ عددهـا اثنـا عـر لفظـة، منهـا
خمسـة ألفـاظ اسـتعملت للصـوت المنخفـض، ومنهـا سـبعة ألفـاظ اسـتعملت للصـوت المرتفـع، وتنـاول البحـث
موضوعـه مـن خـال مبحثـن: الاول: ألفـاظ صـوت الإنسـان المنخفضـة وتفاوتهـا فيـا بينهـا، والثـاني: ألفـاظ
ً صــوت الإنســان المرتفعــة وتفاوتهــا فيــا بينهــا، واســتخدم البحــث منهج ً ــا (وصفي ً ــا اســتقرائي ً ا تحليليــا) والــذي
يقـوم عـى حـر الألفـاظ وتحليلهـا بـن معناهـا في المعاجـم ودلالتهـا في السـياق القـرآني، للنظـر في مـدى تفاوتهـا
وتناسـبها، ومـن أهـم النتائـج التـي توصلنـا إليهـا هـو كثـرة اسـتخدام ألفـاظ الصـوت المرتفعـة بسـبعة ألفـاظ، عـن

Abstract

Human languages, including Arabic, undergo a series of phonetic
changes over time, especially in colloquial dialects descended from
classical Arabic. These dialects are the most susceptible to these phenomena and the most responsive to the laws of evolution, due to frequent use on the one hand and the strictness of the phonetic laws
governing the course of linguistic evolution on the other hand. The
phonetic changes that the research talks about are a branch of the
phonetic evolution of languages. The research has monitored a number of words in the contemporary Baghdadi dialect that are subject
to the phenomenon of phonetic changes and succession, between the
sounds included in the name of palatal sounds. After monitoring and
induction, the research attempted to use the descriptive and explanatory method to explain these phonetic phenomena as much as possible.

تجـري عـى لغـات البـر ومنهـا العربي ًـة جملـة مـن التغـرات الصوتيـة عـر الزمـن، خصوصا
َّ في اللهجــات العامي َّ ــة المنحــدرة مــن العربيــة الفصحــى، فهــذه اللهجــات هــي الأكثــر عرضــة
لهـذه الظواهـر وأكثـر اسـتجابة لقوانـن التطـور؛ لكثـرة الاسـتعمال مـن جهـة ولصرامـة القوانـن
الصوتيـة الحاكمـة لمسـرة التطـور اللغـوي مـن جهـة مقابلـة، والتبـدلات الصوتيـة التـي يتحدث
ً عنهـا البحـث فـرع مـن فـروع التطـور الصـوتي للغـات، وقـد رصـد البحـث عـددا مـن المفـردات
َّ في اللهجـة البغداديـة المعـاصرة خاضعـة لظاهـرة التبـدلات والتعاقـب الصـوتي، بـن الأصـوات
الداخلــة في مســمى الأصــوات الحنكيــة، حــاول البحــث بعــد الرصــد والاســتقراء الاســتعانة
َّ بالمنهـج الوصفـي التفسـري لتعليـل هـذه الظواهـر الصوتيـة مـا أمكـن ذلـك.

Abstract

There is a close connection between readings and dialects. When the Holy Quran was
revealed to the Messenger of God, Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), there
was a common standard language that encompassed all Arabs. In addition, there were
many dialects, each representing a specific tribe, such as the Hijazi dialect, the Tamim dialect, the Hudhayl dialect, the Yemeni dialect, and others.
It was only natural that these dialects would be reflected in the Quranic readings, since
the Holy Quran was revealed in the Arabic language.
Thus, we find many dialectal phenomena in the Quranic readings, such as hamza, tashil,
substitution of letters and vowels, disjunction, assimilation, fathah, imala, and other phenomena. The imams of the Quranic readings made great efforts, which are remembered
with great favor, in collecting and studying the Quranic readings.
Their transmission relied on chains of transmission, narration, and oral transmission.
This is of great importance in providing evidence for various linguistic issues, including
phonetics, morphology, grammar, and semantics.
Imam Abu Ja’far al-Makhzumi al-Madani, one of the ten reciters, was a well-known and
highly respected follower

Abstract

equivalent questioning is (a complex sentence of two parts, preceded by a particle – usually
Al- hamza, followed by what is asked about which is the first equivalent. and the second part is
preceded by – the equivalent (Am), and the known predicate is often between the two equivalents, and the purpose of a sentence is to identify one of the equivalent).
This construction is common in the Qur’an debate, and the standard particles are :
Al-hamza for questioning, & (Am) for Conjunctions. The intended meaning is: (Which of the
two equivalent parts is to be identified). Many grammarians considered many of sentinces falings under this category of structure as another division, that is entirely not related to the equivalence, & the particles (Am) as actually meaning (but) whith denial!
This equivalence is used in it’s original meaning and for rhetorical purposes - often - in the Quran, such as equality, denial and assertion

المعادلــة ّ الاســتفهامي ُة ٌ : ( جملــة َّ مرك ٌ بــة ِ مــن شــطرين ّ ، تتقد ٌ مهــا أداة ّ اســتفهامي ٌة - هــي الهمــزة غالبــا، يــأتي بعدهــا المســؤول عنــه وهــو
ّ المعـادل الأو ّ ل ، ويتقـد َ م الشـطر َ الثـاني َ - المفـرد أو الجملـة - ( أ ّ م ) المعادلـة، ويتوس ِـط المعادلـن ُ - في الأكثـر- الخـر الـذي يعلـم حصولـه

ُ والمعنـى الـذي ت ُ كسـبه الهمـزة َ ( أ َ م ) بمعادلتهـا هـو ( أ ُّي ُ ) ، والمقصـود ُّ : أي ِّ الش َّـق ِن ِ المتعادلـن َ حصل ْـت ُ لـه النسـبة ُ التـي ع ِل َـم حصو ُلهـا؟
ّ وعـد ّ النحوي ًـون والمفـرون كثـرا ممّ ًـا ينـدرج تحـت هـذا الأسـلوب قسـا ّ آخـر لا يمـت للمعادلـة بصلـة و(أم) فيـه منقطعـة معناهـا
ّ خلـص لـإضراب وتقديرهـا بـل والهمـزة الإنكاري ًـة - غالب ّـا - وهـو تقديـر لا يطـرد في كل المواضـع مهـا تكلفـوا لـه مـن التأويـلات.

َس ٌـواء َأ ُّي َـا كان.

Abstract

«(where) is an adverbial phrase built on the damma and is used frequently in Arabic, and this is also common. But is it made genitive by the preposition ba’, as in the
saying: “I wrote in such a way that everyone would benefit”? Grammar books indicate
that this usage is unusual or rare, although (where) is frequently used by commentators, jurists, linguists, and writers.
I returned to the sayings of the Arabs in the books of language, poetry collections,
and books of hadith and biography, and I found more than twenty prose examples and
more than one hundred poetic examples of the use of (in such a way that).
Through research, it became clear that the use of (so that) is eloquent and widespread due to the abundance of prose and poetry examples, and that what grammarians assumed of it being anomalous or rare is questionable, because linguistic reality
testifies to the contrary

Some Grammatical Structures Between Prohibition and Permissibility

Abstract

This research examines some grammatical structures that have been the subject of debate among grammarians regarding prohibition and permissibility. This research examines
the views of various grammatical schools, such as the Basran and Kufic schools, and the statements of scholars. It also analyzes the reasons for prohibition and permissibility in light of
grammatical rules, analogy, and listening. The research highlights the role of linguistic context in favoring one of the two opinions, and highlights the impact of these structures on the
semantic understanding of texts.
In this work, the researcher relied on the comparative analytical approach, tracking the
most prominent problematic structures, such as: describing an indefinite noun with a definite
noun and a definite noun with an indefinite noun, the substitution in which the second noun is
not the first, and the placement of the subject before the verb, among others. Evidence was
drawn from the Holy Qur’an, ancient Arabic poetry, and classical prose. The study concluded
that grammatical structures are not always governed by a logic of absolute prohibition and
permissibility. Rather, considerations of meaning, context, and style often intervene in their
direction, opening the way for a more flexible understanding of Arabic grammar and enhancing the value of grammatical reasoning based on Arabic taste and instinct

ً وخلـص البحـث إلى أن التراكيـب النحويـة ليسـت دائـا محكومـة بمنطـق المنـع والجـواز عـى نحـو قطعـي، بـل
ً كثـرا مـا تتدخـل اعتبـارات المعنـى والسـياق والأسـلوب في توجيههـا، ممـا يفتـح المجـال لفهـم أكثـر مرونـة للنحـو
العـربي، ويرفـع مـن قيمـة الاجتهـاد النحـوي المعتمـد عـى الـذوق والسـليقة العربيـة

Abstract

The research aims to trace some of the issues and opinions that the author attributed to Al-Zamakhshari and to clarify the truth of that attribution in them. I chose
Al-Zamakhshari because his name was frequently mentioned by the author, although he
mentions other linguists, and also for the ease of referring to Al-Zamakhshari’s books. It
became clear to me that many of those issues and opinions were not mentioned by Al-Zamakhshari in the manner that the author indicated. Some of them contain a clear illusion,
and some of them he conveyed on their appearance, although Al-Zamakhshari had stated
in another place in his books clarifying his position on them. Some of them he did not say
alone in them, but other linguists preceded or followed him, contrary to what the author
stated. In conclusion, Mughni Ibn Hisham is considered one of the most comprehensive
and accurate of what he wrote, as it has been widely used. Because he presented the
book’s topics or its details in a way that was not woven in his style, as he stated in his introduction, and he had the right to do so, except that due to the breadth of his knowledge
of Arabic, he must stumble upon matters that pens have overlooked or that the tongue
has preceded. This is because man is prone to forgetfulness and negligence, and praise
be to God for the completion.

يهـدف البحـث إلى تتبـع بعـض المسـائل والآراء التـي نسـبها المصنِّـف (ابـن هشـام) إلى الزمخـري وبيـان
َّ حقيقـة تلـك النسـبة فيهـا، وقـد اخـرت الز َّ مخـري لكثـرة ورود اسـمه عنـد المصنِّ َّـف مـع أنـه يذكـر غـره
ِّ مـن اللغويـن، وكذلـك لسـهولة الرجـوع إلى كتـب الزمخـري َّ ، وقـد تبـن َّ لي أن ً كثـرا مـن تلـك المسـائل
ِّ والآراء لم يذكرهـا الزمخـري عـى الوجـه الـذي أشـار إليـه المصنِّ ٌّـف، فبعضهـا فيهـا توهـم واضـح وبعضهـا
َّ نقلهـا عـى ظاهرهـا مـع أن ِّ الزمخـري َّ قـد صرح في موضـع آخـر مـن كتبـه بـا يبـن موقفـه فيهـا، وبعضهـا لم
َّ ينفـرد بالقـول فيهـا بـل سـبقه أو تبعـه غـره مـن اللغويـن عـى خـاف مـا صرح بـه المصنِّ ًـف، وختام َّـا فـإن
ُ مغنـي ابـن هشـام ي ُّ عـد ِّ مـن أوسـع وأدق مـا صنَّ َّـف فقـد سـارت بـه الركبـان؛ لأنـه جـاء بعـرض لموضوعـات

Abstract

Al-Muthanayat is a phenomenon of the Arabic language, which has a well-known
role at the level of linguistic wealth, which contributed to the enrichment of dictionaries with many words, which have no counterpart in other languages, and we mean
the use of words in the form of Muthana, to denote two things, any word denotes
two meanings together, such as the two moons to indicate the sun and the moon,
and al- Basratan, namely Basra and Kufa, and al-aswadan , which are dates and water.
The research sought to study this phenomenon, and the statement of its impact in
enriching the dictionary of assas al-balagha of Zamakhshari, and enrich it with linguistic words that fall within it, I identified the concept of Al-Muthniyat in Arabic, and
then study the words Al-Muthniyat that were found in the dictionary, and then rooted
in other dictionaries, and mentioned the levels of linguistic use of those words in the
Qur’an, al- hadith al-shareif, poetry and proverbs.

Abstract

The researcher noted the availability of the ancients in explaining poetic texts, a
remarkable availability, whether in explaining the collections, the selections, or the
poetry collections, in contrast to our modern era, so they tried to explain this phenomenon, then to identify the mechanism that one of the great commentators, Al-Khatib
Al-Tabrizi (d. 502AH), employed in his explanation of Al-Mufaddaliyat, in resting the
levels of semantic study through the meaning and its functions in the levels of the Arabic language and the accuracy of its meaning and the origin of the word to indicate
one meaning, while we find here that it may indicate multiple close meanings with one
word and it may indicate one meaning with more than one word

The Influence of Context on Determining the Meaning of a Word: A Study in the Light of “Word and Meaning Theory”

Abstract

Studying language through context is among the linguistic studies which have
received significant attention from linguists because language consists of forms and
meaning. This study, therefore, aimed at investigating the influence of context on
determining the meaning of individual words, and exploring the discourse and dialogue that has taken place between linguists on the issue of ‘words and meaning’.
The study followed the descriptive, inductive method. The most important findings
are as follows: It has become clear that a word has two meanings: a basic, lexical
meaning and a figurative connotation acquired through using simile. Careful consideration plays a significant role in utilizing a word’s meaning, and the adjacent words
in the context have a role in specifying the appropriate meaning of a polysemous
word. Abd-el Gadir El-Jarjani’s method for specifying the exact meaning of the individual word is more in line with linguistic reality than the views of scholars who
maintain that a word has multiple meanings even when occurring out of context.

تعـد دراسـة اللغـة مـن خـال السـياق مـن الدراسـات اللغويـة التـي حظيـت بالاهتـام الكبـر مـن قبـل
علـاء اللغـة؛ ذلـك لأن اللغـة تكمـن في مبنـى ومعنـى. ولهـذا هدفـت الدراسـة إلى البحـث عـن أثـر السـياق
في تحديـد دلالـة المفـردة، كـا تهـدف إلى الإطـاع عـى التـداول والحـوار الـذي دار بـن اللغويـن في قضيـة
اللفـظ والمعنـى، اتبعـت الدراسـة المنهـج الوصفـي الاسـتقرائي. توصلـت الدراسـة إلى عـدد مـن النتائـج
منهـا: مـن خـال الدراسـة اتضـح أن للفـظ دلالتـن : دلالـة معجميـة أصليـة حقيقيـة، وأخـرى مجازيـة
ً إسـتعارية كامنـة مـن خـال التشـبيه، كـا اتضـح مـن خـال الدراسـة أن للتوخـي دورا كبـرا في توظيـف

Abstract

This study aims to explore the main literary characteristics of the Abbasid era and analyze
their impact on the development of modern Arabic literature. The study is based on the hypothesis that the cultural and literary wealth produced by the Abbasids provided a solid foundation and source of inspiration for contemporary writers, both in terms of subject matter
and artistic style.
The study followed a descriptive-analytical approach, collecting a textual sample consisting of selected texts from Abbasid poetry and prose, compared to texts from modern Arabic
literature (from the early to mid-twentieth century). These texts were then analyzed in terms
of their main themes (such as pride, satire, elegy, and ghazal), their linguistic and stylistic
structures (the use of rhetorical images, poetic meters, and syntax), and critical approaches
addressing issues such as rebellion and modernity.
The results showed that Abbasid literature was distinguished by its ability to blend authentic Arabic culture with Persian, Indian, and Greek knowledge, resulting in a thematic and
artistic diversity reflected in modern-day texts. The study concluded that Abbasid literature
was not merely a memorized legacy, but rather was intellectually and aesthetically reworked
within the framework of the needs and challenges of the modern era, contributing to the creation of a new literary identity that combines authenticity and modernity.

Abstract

It is well known that the historical novel is considered one of the most important literary
forms, especially in our present era. This research revolves around the historical novel in general and how to activate events within the narrative text, making them the focus of attention of
its pioneers, and applying this to the novel “Farewell Toledo” by its author (Mahmoud Maher).
A historical text does not, on its own, constitute a novel or literary art in its conventional sense.
Hence, the narrator must find techniques that enable him to formulate the historical event
in a manner that suits the literary form in which he writes. This is what the research revolves
around. Characters play a fundamental role in activating historical events and news, especially
historical characters, as well as fictional characters, who act as a bridge between the reader
and historical and past news. Furthermore, the phenomenon of poetic intertextuality in the
novel “Farewell Toledo” and how the writer employed poetic texts in the narrative narrative,
where these poetic texts played a dialogue role. The effective interaction between characters,

the adopted methodologies, and a review of previous studies. The preface is dedicated to defining
the concepts of “formation” and “space”, as well as providing a brief overview of Muhammad Hasan
Alwan. The first chaper discusses the manifestations of spatial formation in the novel The Beaver.
The second chapter examines spatial formation and its impact on the elements of narrative structure in the novel. The third chapter addresses the psychological and connotations of spatial formation in The Beaver. Finally, the findings were summarized in the conclusion.
The study has shown that the theme of spatial formation in The Beaver is a subject worthy of
in-depth study and research. The author successfully conveyed his creative experience through the
use of space—its impact and layered meanings—which harmonized with the other elements of the
narrative

تــرز هــذه الدراســة في استكشــاف التشــكيل المــكاني في روايــة القنــدس للأديــب محمــد حســن علــوان ،
والوقـوف عـى مظاهـر هـذا التشـكيل وأبعـاده ودلالاتـه ، فالمـكان هـو المرتكـز الـذي ينهـض عليـه بنـاء العمـل
الـردي الشـامل ، وبـه يضمـن تماسـكه الفنـي، وقـد جـاءت هـذه الدراسـة في مقدمـة وتمهيـد وثلاثـة مباحـث
وخاتمـة، اشـتملت المقدمـة عـى أهـداف البحـث وأهميتـه ، وأسـباب اختيـاره ، ومناهجـه ، والدراسـات السـابقة،
وأمـا التمهيـد فـكان للتعريـف بالتشـكيل والمـكان ، وذكـر نبـذة موجـزة عـن محمـد حسـن علـوان ، وتحدثـت في
المبحـث الأول : عـن مظاهـر التشـكيل المـكاني في روايـة القنـدس ، وكان المبحـث الثـاني : التشـكيل المـكاني وأثـره
عـى عنــاصر البنــاء الروائــي في روايــة القنــدس ، وأمــا المبحـث الثالــث فتحدثــت فيـه عــن : دلالات التشـكيل
المـكاني النفسـية في روايـة القنـدس ، ثـم أوجـزت النتائـج في الخاتمـة.
وقــد أبانــت الدراســة أن موضــوع التشــكيل المــكاني في روايــة القنــدس مــادة جديــرة بالدراســة والبحــث،
واسـتطاع الكاتـب أن يطلعنـا عـى تجربتـه الإبداعيـة مـن خـلال المـكان وتأثـره ودلالاتـه التـي جـاءت متظافـرة
مـع بقيـة عنـاصر الـرد
