Abstract
Waste water produced by dairy factories contains high concentration of organic
materials like proteins and fats, which require treatment in order to be reused. One of
the treatment methods is (Membrane Bio-Reactor, MBR ).
In this research, the test of (MBR) unit operation has been done. The capacity of
the unit is 1m3/day by using one of Hollow Fiber membrane, Experiment duration
continued for more than 90 days to evaluatc the unit performance and the concentrations
of impurities in wastewater and produced water.
The removal rate of Impurities as fallows Total suspended solid (TSS) 93%,
Turbidity (T)95%, Chemical oxygen demand (COD) 74.6%. The concentration of
itrate in produced water was 25 mg/l in steady state situation of the unit.
The results of the research also showed that the pressure differences across the used
membrane in the system did not changed, and this refers that there was no effective of
blockage on the working system.
