The city of AGareb, a suburb located aproximately twenty kilometers south
of Sfax has witnessed one of the most prominent forms of environmental
resistance in the past decade, embodied in the “Manish Amseb” movement,
which emerged in opposition to the reopening of the El Gonna waste dump.
This movement is notable for its popular character and its ability to mobilize
collective environmental awareness that goes beyond temporary sectoral
demands, challenging public environmental policies that reproduce spatial
inequalities and environmental harm, and reinforcing the logic of “sacrifice
zones” in post-colonial societies. This study is structured around four

This research addresses the population aging phenomenon in Iraq as one of the outcomes of the contemporary demographic transition, aiming to analyze the quantitative and qualitative directions for the age categories (65 years and above) from 1977 until 2024. The results, based on the descriptive analytical approach, revealed a continuous increase in the size of the elderly population as the category (65-69 years) rose from 155 thousand people in the year 1977 to more than 645 thousand people in 2024. The study recorded a significant acceleration in growth rates, as it reached the climax for the category (70-74 years) with 5.7% in 2024, and the indicators also showed a transition in the population age structure with aging index rising from 8.2% in 1977 to 10.2 % in 2024. They also showed an increase in age dependency ratio to reach 6.1% in 2024 reflecting a rise of the median age (which reached its climax in Sulaymaniyah with 27 years old), development of life expectancy at birth which reached 73 years in 2024, in addition to an enhancement in survival levels. The research concludes that Iraq will enter the aging period in the coming decades, especially with the increase in the higher age categories (80 years and above), which necessitates preemptive policies to confront future dependency pressures and meet long-term healthcare needs.

This study addresses the issue of migration and asylum as one of the most complex contemporary dilemmas, where political and economic dimensions intersect with humanitarian principles. The research focuses specifically on the suffering of women and children, identified as the most vulnerable groups susceptible to the risks of “modern-day slavery,” including human trafficking and sexual exploitation. The significance of this study lies in its attempt to deconstruct the sociological drivers of migration-ranging from the pursuit of economic opportunities to escaping armed conflict and persecution-while providing a critical perspective on the role of feminist organizations and digital solutions in mitigating these crises
