Abstract
The growth response of the synthetic cultivar 5018 was investigated in the spring of 2024 in Iraq\'s Diyala Governorate using a randomized complete block design (R C B D) on soil with a mixture of clay and sandy , Maize (Zea mays L.) textures in the Abi Saida district which is situated 60 kilometers northeast of the governorate center (Baquba). during the Spring Season of 2024. The study three sowing dates (March 15, April 1, and April 15) and foliar application of humic at two concentrations (2 and 3 ml L⁻¹) in addition to a control treatment, Sowing Dates The sowing dates of April 15 and April 1 significantly outperformed the March 15 date regarding plant height, leaf number, leaf area, and leaf area index (LAI). These dates recorded averages of 210.91 and 193.16 cm for plant height; 15.00 and 15.22 leaves plant⁻¹; 65.69 and 63.22 dm² for leaf area; and 28.33 and 28.81 for LAI, respectively. In contrast, the March 15 date recorded the lowest averages for these traits (175.83 cm, 14.86 leaves plant⁻¹, 57.92 dm², and 24.79, respectively). However, the March 15 date was superior in stem diameter, reaching an average of 2.64 cm, compared to April 1 and April 15, which both recorded the lowest average of 2.19 cm. . Humic Acid Levels: concentrations of 3 and 2 ml L⁻¹ showed significant superiority across all studied traits, particularly in leaf area index (LAI) and shoot dry weight. They achieved the highest averages of 30.23 and 27.82 for LAI, and 134.50 and 118.30 g plant⁻¹ for dry weight, respectively, compared to the control treatment .
