Renal failure refers to a condition where the kidneys lose their normal functionality. Dialysis is one of the most common strategy of renal replacement therapy . The aims of the study is to study of some physiological paramerters in patients with renal failure before and after dialysis and compared the results with healthy people. ( 134 ) patients were taken for this study, 94 patients undergoing hemodialysis, 52 males and 42 females,40 patients undergoing peritonial dialysis,24 males and 16 females .The subjects of control group were 57 individuals 29 males and 28 females.The present results showed that there is significant increase (P < 0.01) in urea , creatinine and aldosterone in males,female hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis patients compared to control .While there were significant decrease (P < 0.01) in total protein ,calcium , erythropoietin and phagocytic activity compared to control but there was no significant difference between before and after dialysis.

This paper describe the principle of eigenface approach to detection and identification human face. In this approach, the features extracted from face images are individual, hidden, light insensitive, and effective to recognition. Wherever approach treats the face recognition as two dimensions recognition problems, taking advantage of the fact that faces are normally upright and thus may be described by a small set of two characteristics view. The face images for training and testing are selected carefully from Olivetti and Oracle Research Laboratory (ORL) face database in order to have minmum pose variation. The eigenface approach is proposed seems to be an adequate method to be used in face recognition due to its simplicity, speed, and learning capability.

Much evidence showed that radiation-induced inflammation can cause cellular damage in direct irradiated and bystander cells, which are in vicinity of irradiated cells underlying radiation-induced bystander effects (BE). As well as radiation-induced genomic instability (GI) is observed within the progeny of irradiated and bystander cells as a delayed damage responses. This study tried to mimic the effects of radiation-induced GI and BE by exploring the inflammatory effect of lipopolysaccharide (LPS) on human primary fibroblast (HF 19) and umbilical vein endothelial (HUVEC) cells. To prove the principles of LPS can cause DNA damage in HF 19; cells were treated with 1 μg/ml LPS, and BE was induced by media transfer. Comet assay was used to estimate DNA damage in the direct treated and bystander cells. The early DNA damage result was significantly observed in the direct treated and bystander HF 19 cells. However, these cells did not show a significant delayed DNA damage within their progeny. Comet data showed that LPS frequently induced only initial DNA damage in HF 19 cells. The experiment was repeated utilising HF 19 and HUVEC cells, in order to investigate whether LPS could be involved in the induction of GI in a tissue-specificity manner. Both HF 19 and HUVEC cells were treated with 1 μg/ml LPS. BE was also induced by media transfer. Chromosomal analysis was used for early and late chromosomal damage estimation. Data showed that LPS treatment could significantly cause early chromosomal aberrations in the direct treated and bystander HF 19 and HUVEC cells. However, delayed chromosomal instability was observed only in the direct treated HUVEC cells. Our finding suggested that LPS frequently induced BE in HF 19 and HUVEC cells, which could be mediated by pro-inflammatory cytokines that stimulated by LPS treatment. Moreover, LPS could be involved in the GI induction in a tissue-specificity manner.

Diabetes mellitus is a complex multifactorial and heterogeneous syndrome characterized by hyperglycemia resulting from inadequate insulin secretion and/or insulin action. T lymphocytes and macrophages appear to play an important role in mediating ß-cell damage and causing Type 1 diabetes. A case-control study is done during the period from Feb., 2011, through the end of Feb. 2012. The study enrolled 90 diabetic patients divided into three groups Type 1, Type2 and LADA (30 patients in each group) who attended in Al Zahraa Teaching Hospital in Al-Kut city & 25 non diabetic as a control to determine the prevalence of islet cell autoantibodies, glutamic acid decarboxylase autoantibodies (ICAs& GADAs) and measured IL-17cytokine was measured in diabetic patients and non-diabetic control with no family history of diabetes. Serological tests for GADA & ICA (by using ELISA) have been done for all sera of the study groups. Dual set ELISA technique is used for estimating the cytokine levels in the sera of all study groups. According to the results of this study, Type 1 diabetic patients had higher frequency of GADA 65 autoantibodies compared with other study groups, as eighteen of them (60%) showed GADA positive in comparison to 6.6 % in type 2 DM, 56.7% in LADA and 0% in control group. Furthermore, twenty of type 1 diabetic patients which represent (66.7%) were ICA positive in comparison to 33.33% in type 2 DM, 70% in LADA and 4% in control group. Statistical analysis showed highly significant difference. the IL-17 level has been elevated significantly in the sera of type 1 (927.9±906.9 pg./ml), type 2 (599.5±75.66 pg./ml) and LADA (388.2±533.5 pg./ml) diabetics patient’s positive autoantibodies in comparison with other groups type 1, type 2 and LADA diabetics patients negative autoantibodies and healthy control(62± 37.26 pg./ml).

The Artemisia Herba Alba plant, is widespread in Iraq and its municipal kind called Artemisia herba alba is used as anti-parasites and anti-bacterial agent, it also has effective against different kinds of infections, this activity returns to Sesquiterpene lactone compounds, which are the main product of the Artemisia Herba Alba oil. In this study, these compounds were extracted from the Artemisia Herba Alb plant. The effectiveness of five one-half concentrations (200,100,50,25,12.5) mg / ml, against five species of pathogenic bacterial isolates from urinary tract infections (UTI) cases were tested , The activity of Sesquiterpene lactone compounds was significant (P<0.05) for highest concentration of 200 mg /ml against P. aeruginosa, while the activity was not significantly against K .pneumoniae ,S. pneumoniae ,S. pyogenes when it is compared with standard antibiotic which is used against these pathogenic bacteria. In this study the anti-inflammatory activity of Sesquiterpene lactone compounds which induced by injection of carrageenan at the feet of laboratory mice, we found that these compounds was significantly (P <0.05) more active in reducing the inflammation caused by the injection of carrageenan but not those efficiency shown by the use of anti-inflammatory aspirin to reduce inflammation to the laboratory mice resulting from the injection of carrageenan.

Celiac disease is a chronic enteropathy caused by intolerance to gluten. Its clinical spectrum is broad. Presentation of celiac disease varies from absence of symptoms to gastrointestinal (classic) and/or extraintestinal (non-classic) symptoms. Patients without symptoms may have latent or silent celiac disease. Because celiac disease can be atypical or even clinically silent, many patients remain undiagnosed and at risk for the long-term, sometimes serious complications of untreated celiac disease.
The aim of this study is to determine the prevalence of celiac disease (CD) in children with growth failure and the diagnostic value of tissue-transglutaminase (TTG) IgA antibodies and IgA antigliadin antibodies (AGA) for celiac disease.
Patients and Methods: A total of 104 children (43 male, 61 female) with growth failure without a specific etiology were studied. Extensive investigations had shown no abnormalities in any subject. Anthropometric parameters and IgA AGA and IgA TTG antibodies were evaluated in this study group. These antibodies were measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. All patients were referred for an endoscopic intestinal biopsy. The biopsy samples were classified according to revised Marsh criteria .
Results: the prevalence of properly diagnosed CD among patients with growth failure in this study was 25.9% (27 of 104patients).Out of 104 patients 57 of them were positive upon screening with the serological tests. IgA -AGA, and IgA -TTG antibodies were found in 81.4% (n = 22 out of 27 with confirmed CD), and 88.8% (n = 24 out of 27 with confirmed CD) of patients with growth failure, respectively. Sensitivity,Specificity ,the positive predictive value (PPV),negative predictive value(NPV) for TTG antibodies were found to be 88.8%, 94.2%, 85.7%, and 94.7% for CD in the group of patients with growth filure in this study and for IgA AGA: sensitivity 81.4%, specificity 88.4%, positive predictive value( PPV) 75.8%, negative predictive value (NPV) 90.6% were found in this study.
Conclusion: We conclude that the prevalence of celiac disease is high in patients with idiopathic growth failure and it is important to test all children with idiopathic growth failure for celiac disease by measuring serologic markers and performing an intestinal biopsy.

Magnetic reconnection is a very important and fundamental plasma process in transferring energy from magnetic field into plasma. Previous theory, numerical simulations and observations mostly concentrate on 2-dimensional (2D) model.Configuration of magnetic fields near anull point is re-examined by a topological analysis. The so-called X-and O-type magnetic field respectively occupy their own seat in our classified table. Then the existence of the spiral and node of configuration will be shown by the analysis.

DNA In Situ Hybridization technique was used to estimate overexpression of p53 and Bcl-2 in different histological type of Iraqi female breast cancer patients and to assess whether these biomarkers are significantly correlated with clinicopathological parameters (tumor grade , stage , age and invasiveness ) of breast carcinoma .The study included forty six patients, their ages ranging between 20-77 years with a mean age of (46.08) years, between Septembers 2012 and May 2013. The results showed that p53 overexpression frequency was (63.04) and Bcl-2 was (52.17) in patients with significant differences (p=0.001). Also the results showed asignificant differences between the expression of each of these biomarkers with tumor grade and stage (p=0.05). As well as there was significant difference between the expression of p53 and patient age (p=0.05). The results of these study supported the importance role of these genes in carcinogenesis and ability to use both genes as a markers in diagnosis.

Azo dyes 3-(4-chlorophenylazo)-4-hydroxyacetophenone (L) were synthesized by reaction of p-chloroaniline to p-hydroxyacetophenone through mono azo-coupling reaction. Reaction of new azo-dye with La(III), Ce(III), Sm(III), Eu(III) and Dy(III) salts gave mono nuclear complexes, the complexes exhibited 1:3 M:L stoichiometry . Complexes showed octahedral geometry around metal ions. Their structures were identified by FTIR, UV-Visible, molar conductance and NMR spectran. IR spectra show that the ligand is coordinated to the metal ions in a bidentate manner and complexation with the ligand through the oxygen atom of hydroxyl group (OH) and azo nitrogen. It was found the inner transition metal ions was six-coordinated. Analytical data of the ligand and it's complexes are in good agreement with their formulation.

This study was conducted to investigate the effect of alcoholic extract of Marticaria chamomilla flowers on the antioxidant status in comparison with vitamin E in male rats. Thirty mature male Albino Wister rats were used in this study, the animals were divided into six groups (5 each), the first group was administered with water only, the second one was subjected to H2O2 0.75% in drinking water. The third group was orally intubated with 50mg/kg vitamin E concurrently with H2O2. The other three groups (T3, T4 and T5) were orally administered with M.Ch.E (40, 80 and 120 mg/kg BW) respectively. Blood samples were taken at zero time and then after 30 days, serum sample were examined for CAT, peroxynitrite radical concentration, TC, TAG, HDL-C, VLDL-C and LDL-C. The results showed a significant elevation in ONOO concentration, TC, TAG, VLDL-C and LDL-C associated with a reduction in CAT and HDL-C in H2O2 treated group in compared with control group, this result may be contributed to oxidative damage associated with long term H2O2 exposure. While other groups (vitamin E group and M.Ch.E treated groups) showed a significant reduction in ONOO concentration, TC, TAG, VLDL-C and LDL-C with an elevation in HDL-C if compared to H2O2 treaded group. This may be contributed to the antioxidant effect of vitamin E and M.Ch.E. However, 120mg/kg BW M.Ch.E treated group recorded the highest positive effect against oxidative stress and its effect seems to be normalizing with vitamin E effect, as well as both groups (vit. E and 120mg/kg BW M.Ch.E) clarified a non-significant different with control group in all experiment parameters. This result pointed to antioxidant effect of M.Ch.E in a dose dependent manner.

An experiment was conducted to study the effect of three fungal biocontrol agents along with G.mosseae and nematicide furfural against root knot nematode Meloidogyne javanica infecting tomato plants(Lycopersicon esculentum) under greenhouse condition. Bioagents are Paecilomyces lilacinus, Trichoderma harzianum , T. viride and mycorrhizal fungus Glomus mosseae which were compared with the nematicide furfural . The furfural compound was the best treatment in promoting plant growth and reduction the number of root galls/plant . The result showed that the T. harzianum was the best biocontrol agent in increasing shoot length and root length 16.2 % , 26.1% respectively .The P. lilacinus was the best biocontrol agent in reduction root galling (57.53%). Combination of biocotrol agents with G. mosseae and furfural was the least effective treatment in promoting plant growth and the reduction of root galling was 31.43%.

Diabetic foot (DF) as a complication of Diabetes Mellitus (DM) was studied in 88 Iraqi adult patients in Wasit Province at their visit to Al-Karama Teaching Hospital during the period from April 2010 to March 2012.Eighty eight patients were enrolled, 58 males with mean age of 63±8.4 SD years, and 30 females with mean age of 65±4.1 SD years. The mean duration of Diabetes Mellitus was 10.5 years. Uncontrolled hyperglycemia was documented nearly in all patients at presentation.More than 90% of the patients were non-compliant with diet , drugs or both and 88% of them have high body mass index ( BMI >26 Kg/m2) . Other co-morbidities also co-exist, 72.7% of them have peripheral neuropathy (mainly sensory ), 54.5% have hypertension,40.9% of them are active smokers, 39.7% ischemic heart disease, 35% peripheral arterial disease , 34% history of trauma, 29.5% have hyperlipidemia( Table 1). Many of them have more than one risk factor concomitantly. The presenting Diabetic Foot problems were: ulcers in 45 patients, gangrene of the toes and/or the feet in 24 patients, abscess or cellulitis in15 patients and 4 patients presented with miscellaneous conditions (Table 2). Conservative treatment was successful in 95.3% of non-gangrene diabetic foot conditions .But 24 patients who presented with gangrene were in need of some sort of amputation of toes or more proximal ,especially those older than 65 years of age with multiple risk factors. Foot negligence, mis-care, mal-footwear and lack of knowledge about the sequels of diabetic foot by the patient were the main precipitating factors that augment the problem and worsen the outcome. The education programs about Diabetic Foot and correction of risk factors can do a lot to minimize the problem.

Leukemia is one of the most prevalent forms of cancer worldwide in men, women and children with high rate of mortality. Fifty samples of blood were collected from Iraqi patients who were clinically diagnosed by the consultants of the National Center of Hematology and Medical City and 25 healthy as a control group. By direct sequencing in Macrogen company for PCR products ; nineteen mutations were detected in codon 61 of H-ras gene in acute leukemia patients , 11 of them (57.89%) were substitutions and 8 (42.1%) were deletions. Moreover, the adenine found to involve in 14 (73.68%) of 19 mutations in AML detected in this study. Most of A abnormalities involve either trans version with C and T (7 transversions) or deletion of A. H-ras mutations were also detected in chronic leukemia patients, the H- ras mutations was 12 mutations including 7 (58.33%) deletions and 5 substitutions (41.66%)

This paper gives an overview of finding the discharge parameters equations and their effects on the design criteria of ETA as well as the realized design solutions. The aim of this study is to obtain information about the discharge parameters in an electrothermal gun by extending the previous models of different researches and analyze their equations. Different physical processes in confined high-pressure discharge analyzed. For a given discharge, ablation rate and plasma pressure,the tube length is limited. An analytical model is developed for confined high-pressure discharges operating in a quasi-steady state, in which the resulting plasma jet characteristics are steady at hydrodynamic timescales. This model allows the calculation of all the discharge parameters, such as ablation rate; plasma temperature; plasma sound velocity; density; current density and pressure, as a function of the "slowly varying" current and the tube dimensions. Good agreement for the results obtained between the theoreticalmodel, which is built, and the experimental results for global research.

A simple, accurate and sensitive spectrophotometric method was developed for the determination of isopropamide iodide in pharmaceutical formulations and environmental wastewater samples. The method was based on the formation of ion-pair between isopropamide iodide and bromophenol blue (BPB). The colored product was extracted into chloroform and measured spectrophotometrically at 600 nm. Beer’s law was obeyed in the concentration range of 2.0-20.0 μg/mL with molar absorptivity and Sandell’s sensitivity of 3.17 × 104 L /mol. cm and 15.15 ng/.cm2 respectively. The relative standard deviation (RSD) is better than 1.5. The method was applied successfully to the determination of isopropamide iodide in environmental wastewater samples and in pharmaceutical formulations (tablets).

The present work was designed to investigate the histological developmental characteristics of heart in the local rabbit fetuses. It which included the detection of timing of heart beat onset and studied morphohistogenesis of heart components. The study was performed on 35 rabbit fetuses distributed at seven groups according to the following ages: (9, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, 20) days gestational age. The results of the current study showed that differentiation and formation of the heart began between 9th and 10th day of pregnancy in which the smooth-walled heart loop had an outer myocardial mantle, cardiac jelly and present of endocardium by histological study for serial section in each stage. The histological structures for each age showed that the heart passed through different sequential morphological stages in embryonic life represented by heart tube, looping heart, chamber formation and cardiac septation. The purpose of our study was to provide a more complete histological description of the stages of heart formation in rabbits during prenatal development.

Biotin deficiency is very rare in the world .We had reported a case of biotin deficiency "for the first time in our country" in a family from Wasit Province / Hay District. This family includes seven children, unfortunately three of them died before the diagnosis of this disease, they are presented with ataxia, hypotonia, developmental delay, conjunctivitis, skin rash, dermatitis , alopecia, hearing difficulty , breathing problems and recurrent chest infections. The disease was proved after therapeutic trial with vitamin replacement and through biotinidase enzyme assay "which is the most effective enzyme by which the body's cells can using the biotin effectively". This test was done by sending blood samples to one of the medical laboratories in France. Now the children were doing very well on lifelong treatment with activated biotin .

In this paper, we study composition of certain types of compact mappings namely,
paracompact and C-paracompact mappings and we investigate the relationship between these types.
