The Effect of Organic Fillers on the Mechanical and Electrical Properties of Polystyrene

Abstract

The work deals with the preparation of composite materials of polystyrene with a
powder of carbon black with weight percentages of 10,20,30,40% and 50% with
temperature 45°C and polystyrene with the dust of date_palm leaves with weight
percentages of 20 ,30 ,35 and 40% with temperatures (35°C ,45°C,55°C and 65°C . the
composite materials were esti mated according to their , mechanical and electrical
properties it was noted that the best mechanical properties was obtained by the addition
of 35% of the dust of date-palm leaves to the polystyrene at temperature 65°C and the
best electrical conductivity was obtained by the addition of 20% carbon black at
temperature 45°C

Abstract

Selected cases of dust was uled to calculate the solar energy lost because of the dust
during certain days identified as witnessed occurrence of dust for sure , the dusty days
selected was (12) cases , which includes two cases month of the dry season ( April to
September ) of 2008, these cases was chosen depending on the Meteorological data. But
in order to calculate how much the reduction occured because of the dust in the days
selected as best clear day of each month for the comparison therefore, calculating how
much the solar radiation decreased during the dusty day than it was during the clear day
of the same month .To find a greater accuracy according to the observations for each
quarter of an hour of the day, and it turned out that the percentage of loss in solar radiation
due to dust, ranging from zero to 100% during the day, and the mean daily percentage of
solar energy loss was between 33.39% and 71.25% depending on the

Abstract

This study dealt with a survey of how to evaluate the performance of the technological
incubators and to specify the standards of the best practices in order to achieve the
continous development and to get a typical incubator in terms of the quality of service
that which can be achieved through providing an infrastructure for the leading incubated
projects and best services . then ; performing a review and evaluating for the indicators
of performance and then verifying the commitment of strategic goals of the incubation
programe in order to achieve higher levels of performance .
This study ilustrated that the approaches that have been applied to measure the
performance of technological incubators in leading countries in this field and to provid
the best practices and to increase rates of success for the agents. Hence ; the incubator
will reach the level of mature once that can be described as a typical technological
incubator.

Abstract

The design of solar street lighting depends on tilt angle of PV module according to its
location, besides the annual average solar irradiance, which has to be not high enough
that might effect on system performance during the winter session. From recent studies
the optimum tilt angle was (33º) toward the south of Baghdad, in this research study solar
street lighting system using (LED) light at) Ministry of Science and Technology-MoST)
was designed and implemented, evaluation of these units (2012-2014) were done with tilt
angles of (45º) and (55º), in the first year of evaluation a unit of tilt angle (45º) was tested
with other tilt angle (33°). The results of the annual evaluation of the two tilt angle units
showed that the tilt angle (45º) was better in performance as annual average of (15%),and
also better in dusty days, in the second year of evaluation the tests continued on units with
tilt angle (45º) , in the third year a tilt angle (55º) was tested, The results was relatively
similar in performance besides that the unit with the tilt angle(45º)was better in
performance as annual average of (6%).

Impact of Healthy and Chemical Discharch on Zooplanktonic Community in Tigris River- baghdad

Abstract

This study was carried out to determine the effects of chemical pollution on the
zooplanktonic community in samples collected monthly from five stations in Tigris River
at Baghdad city; from January to September 2014. Results of physical and chemical
characteristics showed that water temperature was between(12-29.3 ºC ) , pH (7.1- 8.3) ,
BOD5 (20.29-85 mg/l) , DO (2.67-8.66 mg/l) , total alkalinity (158.4-650 mg/l), EC (625
1056μS/cm) , salinity (0.0-0.8%) , turbidity (1.24-326 NTU) , TDS (326-1013mg/l) and
COD (69-289 mg/l). During this study about 128 species of Zooplankton were identified
, including 91 taxa to Rotifera, 17 taxa to Cladocera ,15 taxa to Testate amoebae , 5 taxa
to Ciliata ,the results of Zooplanktonic population density were the highest for Rotifera
(35900 Ind./m3) , (6483 Ind./m3) for Nematoda , (5333 Ind./m3) for Copepoda , (2999
cell/m3) for Ciliata , (1333 cell/m3) for testate amoebae and the lowest for Cladocera (383
Ind./m3) It can be used Keratella quadrata, Philodina roseola and Nematoda as
bioindicator of organic pollution.

Estimation of Genetic Parameters for Vegetative Growth in F1 Hybrids (Cucumis sativus) Cucumber under Field Condition

Abstract

The current study included two experiments. The first experiment was conducted during
spring season of the year (2013) to produce cucumber hybrids, Five pure cucumber lines were
used as females and three pure lines as males. The second experiment was conducted during
autumn season of the year (2013), the parents and the hybrids from the first experiment and the
control hybrid (Ghazer) were used to study hybrid vigor, gene action and other genetic measures.
All the experiments were run in randomized complete block design (RCBD) with three
replications. The genetic and statistical analysis showed significant differences among the parents
and the resulting hybrids in most studied traits. It was found that the best hybrid was (P5xT6)
which gave the highest plant height, number of nodes, the number of leaves and number of
branches average (171.86 cm, 29.00, 79.06, 4.60) respectively. Most of the studied traits were
over dominance type. The proportion of the broad sense heritability was high in all the studied
traits, while the proportion of the narrow sense heritability was low in most attributes. Plant
height had the highest values for general and specific combining ability

In this work, natural clay(Bentonite)from (Al Safra-AL Anbar-Iraq) was acid activated
and chemically treated using sulfur compounds(sodiumsulfide).It was characterized by
using X-ray diffraction, Atomic force microscope and scan electron microscope. The
Bentonite used for adsorption of mercury from aqueous solution sample. Variations in
the quantity of adsorbed mercury (II) ions as a function of pH, effect of contact time and

Abstract

In this study floor traps (close design) with the sticky floor provided were used inside
the storage-room and its baited with aggregation pheromone of Sitophilus oryzae,
(4S,5R)-Sitophilure and some food attractants (cracked maize, cracked wheat and rice
kernels) to catch adults of rice weevil, S. oryzae. This study was conducted during April,
2013 at storage-room in agronomy research farm of Sam Higginbottom Institute of
Agriculture, Science and Technology, Allahabad –UP, INDIA. The results of this study
show that the ground trap (close design) was effective in capturing adult of rice weevil,
S. oryzae .A strong synergistic effect was noticed between the (4S, 5R)-Sitophilure and
addition of cracked maize , cracked wheat or rice kernel and this was demonstrated by
the mean number of insects capturing which was as fallows ; T4(194.50), T2(180.50),
T6(152.56), T7(53), T5(41.19), T1(39) and the control is T0(12.50) respectively . Higher
weevil number was catch when baited with (4S, 5R)-Sitophilure and cracked maize in
comparison with another treatments in storage- room. Male and female of rice weevil
response to the aggregation pheromone alone or combined with food baits .

Abstract

Experiment for sixty days was done to study the effect of different supplementary diets
and starvation on the common carp Cyprinus carpio L. growth and health status. A total
of 120 fishes weight (22.5 ± 0.6 g / fish ) were distributed for four treatments . The first
T1 contains 10% of black seed powder (cumin) Nigella Sativa, the second T2 of 1% of
garlic powder Allium sativum, the third T3 has a mixture of 10% black seed with 1%
garlic powder and the fourth T4 free from cumin and garlic powders. The treatments T2
and T4 were recorded significantly higher (P ≤ 0.5) as the best grains and increase in fish
daily weight, feeding efficiency and increase in white blood cells WBC numbers. Also,
the same treatments T2 and T4 recorded significant decreases (P ≤ 0.5) for fish
hemoglobin concentration and red blood cells RBC numbers. Ffluctuation in results were
observed for fish growth and its health during of the experiment, and the best results
observed when adding 1% of garlic to the diet with one feeding every 24 hours as well
as the treatment T4 (without cumin and garlic).

Abstract

A simulation for the design of micro-size optical concentrator is presented. The
software of zemax is implemented to design optical concentrator consists of an array of
micro-lenses that focuses sun-light on a glass sheet waveguide, which to be attached to a
common PV cell placed at the end edges of the waveguide. Solar concentration using
waveguides offers a new design approach for small-scale optics compatible with volume
manufacture and assembly. Furthermore, it opens a new design space for high efficiency
systems with the potential for cost reduction in both the optics and tracking mechanics.
