An experiment was conducted to study the influence of different levels of Mg EDTA
and magnetized water with different magnetic field intensities on growth and flowering
of Antirrhinum majus var. Rocket Red in the lath house belonging to Hort. Dept.
/College of Agric. / University of Baghdad in fall season of 2009. Four levels of Mg
EDTA (0, 1.5, 3.0 and 4.5 g/l) were sprayed twice, the first was applied after one month
of planting, and the other was applied 21 days after the first application. Transplants
were irrigated either by regular water or magnetized water with one of the fallowing
magnetic field intensities (500 or 1000 gauss). Results showed that Mg EDTA levels
were significantly increased all vegetative and flowering parameters tested. 3.0 g/l was
more effective on No. of branches/plant, No. of leaves/plant, leaves area, leaves
chlorophyll content, No. of inflorescences/plant ,inflorescences diameter, flowering
date, inflorescences dry weight and vase life.irrigation with magnetized water with both 500 and
1000 gausses improved all parameters investigated; the differences between the two intensities
was not significant

A field experiment was carried out in experimental field of the college of Agriculture, Abu - Ghruib
University of Baghdad, for the winter season 2009-2010, in silty clay loam alluvial soil to Investigate
the water balance in cultivated and non-cultivated soils. Disturbed soil samples were collected from
the depth 0-40 cm to study some physical and chemical characteristics of prepared land. Soil Site
was sectioned into two plots (20X20m). Irrigation water was applied to the cultivated plot only at
60% depletion from available water. The water content changes were monitored gravimetrically
during the growing season, utilizing irrigation system facilitated adding, The right amount of
irrigation water, The components of the water balance equation was determined. Contribution of
ground water was calculated according to Richards equation (Richards, 1931). The actual evapo
transpiration of barley for winter season was 376.8 mm.season-1. Highest consumed water
throughout the forth ration was (84.14 mm.ration-1). whereas the lowest consumed water throughout
the first ration was 27.44 mm.ration-1. Ground water contribution was 96.1mm.season-1 which
account for 37% of applied irrigation water and 26% of the actual evapo-transpiration. The obtained
data from tensiometers showed that there was consistent up ward- steady flux as evaporative flux
from soil surface. Values of evaporative flux ranged from 0.4 to 1.3 mm.d-1 with an average of 0.6
mm.d-1 whereas it was 0.4 to 1.3mm.d-1 for non-cultivated plot with an average of 0.6 mm. day-1.

A study was conducted in AL-Wardia field belong to Iraqi Atomic Energy Commission (IAEC)
to investigate the use of ground reed grass in fattening ration of awassi lambs. Reed grass was
collected from drainage system in the field of IAEC ,then it was dried and treated with liquid
diets, the treated ground reed was used at different levels (0, 10, 20, 30%) in substitution of
barley in ration . Twenty four awassi male lambs, ( live body weight avareaged 251.67 Kg and
5-6 months of age) were used in this experiment, lambs were equally and randomly divided into
four groups, the lambs were grouply fed over 65 days period, weights were recorded weekly and
the feed had been introduced by 4.5% of live body weight, at the end of experiment, two lambs
from each treatment were slaughtered to study the carcass characteristics.
Results revealed that there is no significance differences between treatments in growth
rate and carcass characteristics. The use of treated ground reed grass in substitution of
barely in male lambs ration was reduced the cost of concentrated ration.

The results of detecting fungi associated with nineteen poultry feed samples from different
locations in Baghdad governorate revealed that the feed samples varied in type of isolating
fungi, the percentage of occurrence, the frequency of isolation and total fungal load. The genus
Aspergillus recorded the highest percentage of occurrence (100%) in samples B11, B13 and
B17. Sample B19 recorded the highest total fungal load (1910 x 106 cfu) while sample B12
recorded the lowest total fungal load (0.04 x 106 cfu). The results of toxigenic activity showed
that only 7 isolates among 19 isolates had toxigenic activity, and isolate B6 was the highest
aflatoxin B1 production in comparison with other isolates.

Results to remove endotoxins showed reduced concentration in rang 0.05 - 50.0
Endotoxin Unit / ml in first experiments for processing of E.coli toxin with turbidity
value 43 N.T.U with ratio of 99 % of toxins removing.In second experiment the results
of removing toxins was range from 0.05-18.1 with turbidity Valve of 27.2 N.T.U
depending on the efficiency of used nanofilters technique.Method of Limulus
Amybosate Lysate (LAL) Chromogenic used to measuare concentration of endotoxins
quantity of polluted water with toxins and final produced water, by using Portable Endo
Safe Tests System which considered as a first technique used to detect bacterial toxins
for 20 minutes, in addition counting Colony Forming Unit CFU / ml by using Pour
Plate Method for polluted water and final produced water.

During the last decades of last century, the low frequency of electric and magnetic
fields impacts were extensively covered by scientists and researchers, furthermore high
attention by many scientists in this field. The aim of this work was to conduct a field
survey in selected power plants and high-tension over head transmission lines in
Baghdad city to evaluate the levels at which the workers and residential were exposed.
Al-Dor’a power plant and North Baghdad high-tension over head transmission lines
400KV were selected as a case study for this research. Spatial analysis for magnetic
field distribution maps have been implemented. In order to assess the data and the
results of this investigation Swiss standard limit were used, because there are no Iraqi
standard limits. The results revealed that some areas with high magnetic field if
compared with the standard limits, where the highest value measured was 43.02
microtesla (µT). Spatial analysis maps of the magnetic field should be accessible to all
workers in power plant, this will help to avoid the high level exposure areas.

To satisfy the increasing electricity demand of residential sector in Iraq (58% of total
pattern),and in services sector, many alternative solutions raised including the use of
medium range diesel electricity generators, low-power gasoline electricity generators.
Although these generators are pollutant and environmentally harmful due to using
traditional fuels, this research will deal with the feasibility study of using the
photovoltaic power supply generation system which converts the sunlight to electricity
directly, showing that the conservation due to the photovoltaic power supply is about
45% in overall operation costs. the cost of 1,100 watts of power produced by civil
generators was $1116 per year and the energy produced by household generators was $
1,100 per year while the cost of energy produced by solar energy generators was $ 500
per year. Also, the research deal with the components of the solar system and the
important types of feasibility study, finally providing comparison of all types of
electricity generators including the investment, operation and constant costs.

Twelve sampling locations were determent on a traverse 6 km long 500 m apart), in
order to collect soil samples from surface (0-5 cm) and sub surface (5 – 30 cm) for each
location.
It is worth mentioned, that the sampling were undertaken in the direction of the
prevailing wind direction away from the vicinity of cement fabric in Kirkuk .At each
site ,samples were collected at two soil depth, these soil samples were air dried and
sieved through 2mm,analysed for their some chemical and physical properties as well as
their total heavy metals content. The results indicated that the soils of the studied area
are calcareous in nature having 20.8 to 36.8% sandy clay loam to sandy loam in CaCo3
texture and moderately to slightly alkaline (with mean pH 7.7). CaO percentages were
found to be high (24.1%) ,especially in the surface soil samples taken near the cement
factory. The soils were heavily contaminated with Cd and Co in comparison with other
heavy metals which the results showed none polluted. The most contaminated sites area
found within the 0 to2.5Km of the cement factory.

Fusarium pseudograminearum, F. culmorum and F. graminearum are the main
causative pathogens of the diseases Fusarium head blight (FHB), crown rot (CR), and
brown foot rot on cereals, causing remarkable yield losses. Climate factors such as CO2
has a direct impact on plant diseases development and pathogencity whereas positive,
increasing the infection or negative, decreasing disease development. Fusarium species
spend part of their life cycle as saprophytes on wheat straw, providing inoculum for the
next season. This paper has studied the impact of two CO2 treatments (ambient and
elevated) on these three Fusarium species in particular on their saprophytic growth
fitness. The results showed that F. pseudograminearum has the highest saprophytic
ability; however, there are no significant differences between species in relation to both
CO2 treatments; while, there were significant differences between isolates response to
CO2.

A research was conducted to study the process parameters affecting lead removing
from industrial waste water using electrocoagulation (EC) process with a unit
containing aluminum electrode as anode and stainless steel as a cathode. Synthetic
water with pH of 5.6, polluted with lead at initial concentration of 1.65 mg/l was used.
Several operation parameters on lead concentration removal efficiency were
investigated, such as initial lead concentration, sodium chloride concentration, current
density and distance between electrodes. Contact time of 75 minute was maintained
constant during experiments. The experimental results revealed that the increase in lead
removal was achieved when current density of sodium chloride concentrations were
increased and space between electrodes and initial lead concentration were decreased

Many scientific investigations carried out on using nano silver colloidal in
purification drinking water from bacteria and its effect on pH balance and turbidity were
established. Two stages accomplished in this project , first stage include preparation of
colloidal silver using Arc discharged method (ADT) with characterization properties
and river water samples treatment with colloidal silver in volume ratio (NAg/water )
((0.1 – 8 )/100)ml with pH and turbidity measurement. The second stage include select
the best results from first stage of NAg ratio , pH ,turbidity and study microbiological
activity for purification water sample set process and determine the variations in pH and
turbidity measurements . Results show good activity of NAg ratio for purification
Tigris`s river samples with acceptable pH balance at volume ratio ((0.7 – 0.8 ) /100 ) ml
