Abstract
The study focused on the topic of kahala and what this term means in the language and convention, and the kahala in the Arab heritage, the impact of Islamic civilization on the flourishing of the science of kahala, and the most famous of those who emerged in this field among the Muslims and others who lived within the confines of the Arab Islamic state, and their most prominent books on ophthalmology, and the benefit that The Western world obtained it from these books and with the recognition of many Western researchers who stated that Arab additions to this field were a major leap in ophthalmology. In this research we study Al-kihala beginning, the Islamic and Arabic Heritage in Al-kihala, the ways that Al-kihala transferred to Europe, famous Muslim kahaleen, then the conclusion with the important points the research reach.

Abstract
اهتمت الدراسة بموضوع الكحالة وما يعنيه هذا اللفظ في اللغة والاصطلاح، والكحالة في التراث العربي والإسلامي، وأثر الحضارة الاسلامية في ازدهار علم الكحالة، واشهر من برز في هذا المجال من الكحالين المسلمين وغيرهم ممن عاش في كنف الدولة العربية الاسلامية، وابرز مؤلفاتهم في طب العيون، والفائدة التي جناها العالم الغربي من هذه المؤلفات وباعتراف عدداً من الباحثين الغربيين الذين صرحوا أن إضافات العرب في هذا الحقل كانت نقلة كبيرة في طب العيون. وقد تناولنا في بحثنا أهم النقاط الآتية : نشأة الكحالة، والتراث الطبي العربي في علم الكحالة، وطرق انتقال الكحالة إلى الغرب، وأهم مشاهير الكحالين العرب وأبرز مؤلفاتهم، وأما الخاتمة وضحنا فيها أبرز النتائج التي توصل إليها البحث
