This paper presents a detailed simulation study of the spontaneous and auger recombination on amplification characteristic and self -phase modulation in travelling- wave (TW) semiconductor optical amplifier (SOAs). The effect is studied on the gain, output signal power, nonlinear phase shift spectrum, and shape of amplified pulse at a range of drive currents. For small value of recombination, gain and output signal power were large, and the peak spectrum shifts more to longer wavelengths.

In the present work , a new type of cooling building system has been used. this system consists of using water piping inside the walls. This study has been carried out in Baghdad city which is has recognize high temperatures difference between night and day. In this study the suggested model consists of inner water piping inside the wall with variable temperature, where pipe number and location has been considered evaluate its effect on cooling building . All constants and variables have been modeled using finite element method which represents one of the modern methods that give accurate results. The results show that increasing number of water pipes will increase cooling rate about (30.5%).It is shown also that the closer is the pipe location is the cooling rate about (14.3%).

A total of 100 children who attending to Al-Karamah Teaching Hospital at Kut city were suffered from watery diarrhoea and abdominal pain were examined. The present study was conducted from October 2011 to January 2012. A thirty-four stool samples in which Cryptosporidium parvum oocysts had been seen by modified acid –fast stain examination were investigated, positivity detected with the ImmunoCard method, and Direct Fluorescent Antibody( DFA ) method was found to be (30%), (28%) and (34%) respectively.
Children aged one month to 144 months presenting with acute or persistent diarrhoea were selected randomly. prevalence of Cryptosporidium parvum infection was significantly higher (59%) in children under one year old compared to children between (7-12) years old (4%). The infective rate of Cryptosporidium parvum in males was higher 17% than females 13% . Also, there was no significant difference among children in gender.

Field experiment was conducted to determine the effects of foliar fertilizers and nature nutrition in wheat ( Triticum aestivum) yield and growth parameters . the experiment contained ten treatments . the treatments include two concentration of Algareen foliar fertilizer 1 , 2 ml/L and two rate of Borogreen foliar fertilizer which was 2, 4mL/Liter and three rate of coconut milk which was 3,6 , 9 ml/ L, also the experiment contained treating wheat plants by ((0.20)ml of 2.4-D + 2 ml/L of Borogreen and the other treatment was ((0.20)mL of 2.4-D + 2 mLl of Borogreen + (1 mL/L ) + Algareen + 2 ml/L of coconut milk) furthermore control treatment (weted by water only ),the experiment was designed by using RCBD design with three replication .the result showed that the Borogreen in 4 ml/liter rate gave higher average of seed weight/ha which was 1320 Kg/ha with significant differences comparison to control treatment that gave lease average which was 410 Kg /ha ,also the Algaren in 2 ml / liter rate treatment recorded higher weight of dried biological weight yield which was 1760 kg / ha, while T5 (3 ml/L of coconut ) gave lower rate which was 1760 Kg / ha in other hand the T9 treatment ( 2.4-D 0. 2 mL+ 2 mL/liter of Borogreen + 1 mL / liter of Algareen + 2 mL / liter of coca nut milk ) gave higher rate of plants and spikes number/ m² which was 236.0 and 229.3 respectively with higher significant differences comparison with 121.7 and 121 in control treatment respectively more of that the treatment of T4 (Borogreen in 4 ml/liter ) recorded higher rate of seed number / spike which was 24.8 with significant differences comparison with 12.8 in control treatment also the T9 treatment ( 2.4-D (0.2 mL) + 1 mL / liter of Borogreen + (1mL/L) of Algaren + 2 mL of coconut milk) recorded higher weight of 1000 seed which was 40.16gm .furthermore the result showed no significant differences between treatments in spikes and plants length with control treatment (applied with water only ).

In this research some applications to Fourier transform in one dimension and in two dimensions for separated data, first in one dimension, where the signal from the study during their characteristics as well as how to remove noise from the signal. Second, in two dimensions, it was a method to detect basic shapes in the image by selecting the desired first and then match the spectrum of each shape in the image to detect the fold. In the final stage of the research were studied diffraction pattern from a circular slit and improve the visibility of this pattern of diffraction . All methods were conducted by Fourier transform has appeared good results have been clarified through research.

This study was conducted to investigate the effect of drying and water ebb on some chemical and physical properties of Abu – Zarak marsh. The results showed that the studied pedons characterized by loam texture domination which take gradual trend , wherever texture coarseness increase with increment of distance from marsh center , higher clay percentage found in pedon No.3 which locate in the center of marsh and that is expected because of sedimentation nature and particle translocation gradually with water ebb front . Soil reaction (pH) ranged between (7.46 – 8.00) that’s indicate the studied soils was alkaline because of high percentage of calcite , the results showed that the soil pedons characterized by high values of electrical conductivity (Ec) which ranged between (31.7-70) , (27.3-52.2) , (25.9-94.7) for pedons 1,2,3 respectively. Calcium carbonate ranged between (17-40%) and higher percent recorded in the surface horizon for pedon 2 and lower percent recorded in its followed horizon. This highness produced by parent material effect as add to drying factor which increase calcification process activity. In the other hand the organic matter content was varied between studied pedon 2 (1.7%) and these percents was low as compared with expected values in marsh soils. The results indicate that the cations concentrations varied according to the distance from marsh center and higher percent found in pedon 1 which was (150 , 570 , 180 , 1478 meq/L) for Ca , Mg , K , Na ions respectively , and higher percent of anions which was (1705 , 220 , 0 , 2.8 meq/L) for Cl , So4 , Co3 , Hco3 respectively. The other results showed that the nitrate ion differ from other ions by higher values recorded in the far pedon from marsh center where is pedon 3 which was 307.5 ppm while in the pedon 1 at the center of marsh was 2.5ppm.

Chromosomal abnormality in childhood acute lymphoblastic leukemia( ALL) has an important role in diagnosis ,management and prognosis. Fluorescence in situ hybridization(FISH) analysis using BAC probes was performed to detect a novel translocation in childhood ALL. The BAC probe RP11-111312 revealed a triple translocation involving chromosome 9,22 and 3.This BAC probe showed signals on normal chromosome 22 and derivative chromosome 3. RP11-465M18 showing only one signal on normal chromosome 9. This study confirms the triple translocation comprising chromosome 9,22,3 as a novel chromosomal abnormality in childhood (ALL).

Three thousands of blood samples were collected by veinpunction from healthy persons of both sex and different ages. The country was divided into three major regions, north (Mousel and Erbil), middle (Baghdad) and south (Basra). The concentration of hormones T3, T4 and TSH under study were determined by imported radioimmunoassay kits in addition to SPSS statically analysis. The country normal range of T4 was (2.2-12.47 μg/dl), since T3 hormone was (0.24 -2.00 ng/ml)and the normal range of TSH was (0.3-4.5μIU/ ml). Our range of hormons results compared with that of forign levels and significant increase in thyroid hormones noted, while the TSH was similar.

Hemodialysis means removes waste and excess fluid from the blood when thekidneyscannot do so sufficiently usually performed three or more times a week for 4 hours or more.The present work was aimed to investigate the effect of renal hemodialysis on serum anenzymatic and non-enzymatic endogenousantioxidantsdefenses. Forty five patientswere taken for this study, 25males (55.54%) with age range (11-70) years and 20 females (44.46%) with age range (6-65)years, while the subjects of control group was thirty five individuals non-undergoing hemodialysis treatment, 23 males (65.71%) with age range (15-65) years and 12 females (34.29%) with age range (18-62) years. The present results showed highly significantly decrease (p<0.05) in serum enzymatic endogenous antioxidant (catalase) andnon-enzymatic antioxidants (transferrin and bilirubin), while serum non enzymatic antioxidant uric acid showed highly increase (p<0.05) in patient with chronic renal failure.In conclusion, the present data showed that patients with chronic renal failure (CRF) undergoing hemodialysis treatmenthave physiological disturbances in both serum enzymatic and non-enzymaticendogenous antioxidants levels in all age ranges may be related to oxidative stress by renal failure disease.

Clinical E. coli isolates (36) from women (aged 18-45 years) with symptomatic genital tract infection were detected phenotypically and genotypically for ESBL production. Phenotypically, most (30/36: 83.3%) isolates were resistant to cefotaxime (CTX) and more than half of them (26/36: 72.2%) were resistant to ceftazidime (CAZ). All (100%) and 25 (69.4%) of them were ESBLs producers by screening and confirmatory tests, respectively. Genotypically, ESBL genotypes were detected in 31/36 (86.1%) of isolates. All four ESBL genotypes were found among these isolates with predominance of CTX-M-type (26/36: 72.2%) followed by SHV-type (22/36: 61.1%), OXA-type (7/36: 19.4%), and TEM-type (1/36: 2.7%). Of These isolates, 25/36 (69.4%) had two types of ESBL genes. Seventeen (17/22: 77.2%) of SHV-type positive isolates were CTX-M positive. Six (6/7: 85.7%) of OXA-type and the TEM-type positives were also CTX-M- positive whereas the other OXA-type positive isolate was SHV-type positive. Most (22/25: 88%) isolates with two types of ESBLs were resistant to both CTX and CAZ. It can be concluded that, in female's genital tract infection, ESBL production, especially CTX-M-type, can be added as another factor, in addition to virulence factors, that select for certain strains to survive and cause disease and as vaginal E. coli is a reservoir along the fecal-vaginal-urinary/neonatal course of transmission in extraintestinal E. coli infections, our clinical
microbiology labs and clinicians need to be aware of the presence of these ESBL-producing organisms and should conduct surveillance studies to ascertain this.

Giardia lamblia, an intestinal flagellate parasite is widely prevalent in humans worldwide. A total of 100 stool samples from diarrhoeal patients during three months ( October, November , and December, 2011) were examined by direct smear and lugol’s iodine techniques to investigate Giardia lamblia parasite . The total human patients involved in this study were divided into five age groups . The overall prevalence of G.lamblia infection was 22%. The highest infection appeared the in age group (1-10) years old, and the lowest was in the age group (11-20) years old. Males were highly infected 26 % (13/50) than females 16% (9/50) in patient groups.

A mild and efficient method has been reported for preparation of Schiff base ligands through condensation reaction of aromatic aldehydes and keton with different aromatic amines and formation of metal complex through the use of ultrasonic assisting technique. The advantages of this friendly, economically, environmentally and mild method are such as; simple work-up, high product yields and very short reaction times.

Salvia officinalis L. (common name sage) is one of this which has been used since ancient Egyptian times for increasing women's fertility;it has been used traditionally to increase fertility have been rather poorly understood.The present work was aimed to investigate the physiological role of sage tea drinking in fertility capacity by some female reproductive parameters of rat during the experiment for 28 day to includes reproductive hormones (follicular stimulating hormone (FSH), luteinizing hormone (LH), estrogen and progesterone hormones) and reproductive indexes (fertility, gestation, post-natal viability and weaning viability indexes). Thirty six female rats were divided at random into three main groups'one control group and two treatment groups as first experiment (received orally by gavage single (0.057 g/kg B.W.) and double (0.114 g/kg B.W.) traditional doses/daily of sage tea drinking for 28 day respectively). The second experiment was done to evaluate the reproductive indexes for female fertility. The results showed a higher significantly increase in serum FSH, LH, estrogen and progesterone hormones levels non dose dependent orally administration of sage tea. But, the reproductive indexes showed a single dose related orally administration of sage tea.Concludes from this present finding that sage tea drinking may be improves female fertility via of the hypothalamic-pituitary-ovarian axis in adult rats.

Cryptosporidium parvum is an important enteric parasite among infants and children in Wasit Province. The present study was conducted from September to December 2011 in Al-Karamah Teaching Hospital in Wasit Province. Children aged 1 month to 12 years presenting with acute or persistent diarrhea were selected randomly. The oocyst of C. parvum was investigated in stool specimens using a modified acid-fast staining method. A total of 100 feces samples of children (55 male and 45 female) were examined. Fifty (50%) specimens were oocyst positive. The prevalence of Cryptosporidium infection was significantly higher (59%) in children under one year old compared to children between (7-12)years old(4%). Most of the infected children were had anemia. The infective rate of Cryptosporidium parvum in males was higher 27% than females 23% . Also, there was no significant difference among children in gender.

The spine is an isolated field line which approaches the null (or recedes from it), so called torsional spine reconnection occurs when field lines in the vicinity of the fan rotate, with current becoming concentrated along the spine so that nearby field lines undergo rotational slippage. In of these region, the spine and fan are perpendicular and there is no flux transfer across spine or fan. The geometry of the current layers within which torsional spine reconnection occur is strongly dependent on the symmetry of the magnetic field. Torsional spine reconnection occurs in a narrow tube around the spine, with elliptical crosssection when the fan eigenvalues are different. The eccentricity of the ellipse increases as the degree of asymmetry increases, with the short axis of the ellipse being along the strong field direction. The spatiotemporal peak current, and the peak reconnection rate attained, are found not to depend strongly on the degree of asymmetry.

The peroxidase enzyme was extracted from four different vegetables which were radish, turnip, cabbage and green pepper. The extracted enzymes were partially purified by ammonium sulphate and DEAEcellulose(Diethylaminoethyl cellulose)chromatography. The effect of amount of guaiacol, hydrogen peroxide, pH and temperature were investigated. The optimum pH for peroxidase activity was in the range (6.5-7.0), while optimum temperature for extracted enzymes was 30⁰c. The extracted enzyme from selected vegetables was tested for their antimicrobial activity against different species of bacteria. The enzymes show weak antibacterial activity towards the tested species of bacteria.

In order to introduce the effects of magnetic field characteristics (B-H) relationship in magnetic field problems analysis, nonlinear method of analysis by using some sort of numerical technique need to complete the analysis. In this work, three dimension finite element analysis is used for solenoid actuator studying. Two types of ferromagnetic, Ferro cobalt and silicon iron used where B-H curves for both materials are introduced in the iterative numerical solution. The results appears the increasing of armature force when the relative permittivity of the material exhibit large value depending on the characteristic of the material used in the solution

The present study aimed to determine the relationship between the genetic resistance of Enterobacter aerugenes to some antibacterial agents, and its plasmid containing. For this purpose (70) samples of urine were collected from patients with clinically diagnosed urinary tract infection, there were (15) isolate Enterobacter aerugenes. The Antibiotic susceptibility test was used through using (11)antibiotics and resistance bacteria Enterobacter aerugenes was nitrofurantion ( 100% ) , trimethoprim ( 90 % ) , amikacin (35 % ) , norfloxacin (45% ) , cefotaxime (50 %) , ceftriaxon (38 %) , chloramphenecol (64 % ) , imipenem (10 % ) , doxocyclin (80 % ) , gentamycin (58 % ) and ciprofloxacin (53 %) . The data indicated the increase infection of urinary tract infection that caused by Enterobacter aerugenes . There are two antibiotics nitrofurantion and trimethoprim must not use to treatment against Enterobacter aerugenes in the future because the bacteria gave high resistance these antibiotics. The resistance of Enterobacter aerugenes to antibiotics used in this study linked with increasing bounds of plasmid.

This study is about anti-TB induced hepatitis ,clinical and biochemical follow up of 50adult patients with active pulmonary TB(sputum-positive for acid bacilli )in Wassit Province ,Iraq ,during their visit to TB-outpatient clinic and infectious ward in Al-Karama Teaching Hospital in Wasit Province. There wasanelevation in liver enzymes (Alanine aminotransferase,Aspartate aminotransferase and Alkaline Phosphatase) at the start of anti-TB therapy (73%), but with no significantclinical or laboratory derangement in liver function tests,apartfrom 2young females who needed cessation of therapy till settlement of their condition .In most patients there were no significant clinical complaints and liver enzymes returned to normal (88%) after two monthsof anti-TB therapy. The percentage of clinically significant hepatitis(jaundiced)was only 4% which is considered low in comparison with that reported in some Asian countries

Background: Review of the literatures reveals that some of them advised to use hyaluronic acid (HA) as a treatment for chondromalasia pattlae [CMP] depending on very few clinical studies, hyaluronic acid (HA) or Sodium hyaluronate, also referred to as or hyaluronan, is a viscoelastic substance that occurs naturally in synovial fluid and is thought to play an important role in lubricating, protecting, and maintaining nutrition of the articular cartilage. Objectives: To answer the following question: is there a role for (HA) in the treatment of [CMP]?
Methods: A randomized controlled trial study was carried out among 30 patients (15 patients as study group, 15 patients as control group )with [CMP] from April 2008 to December2011. For the study group: intraarticular injection of 2 mL sodium hyaluronate solution, once per week, for 3 weeks + quadriceps strengthening exercises.
For the control group: quadriceps strengthening exercises only.
Follow-up for both groups was done every 6 months until 2 years and results regarding improvement were evaluated by Fisher's exact test, the corresponding 95% of confidence interval (95% C.I) was used.

Faecal samples of 350 human, 149 cattle, 117 goats and 123 sheep’s were collected from areas around Afak, Al Daghara and Al dewaniya. The overall prevalence of Fasciola hepatica was among sheep and relationship between age, sex and infection of parasite was studied. The number of infected samples with of F. hepatica was 17 cases. Infections with parasite was more prevalent in female than in male with no significantl difference (P>0.05). Results regarding the relationship between different age groups of sheep and F. hepatica showed that highest prevalence (21.87%) of parasite was observed in age group of 7-12 months and the lowest (4.55%) in age group of 1-6 months. The prevalence was significantly different (P<0.05) in different age groups. It was concluding that the prevalence of Fasciola hepatica in sheep was significantly affecting by the breed age.

Urinary tract infections (UTIs) are health growing problem in patients attending some hospitals in worldwide, to shed light on this subject, present study was done to detect some virulence factors of E. coli isolated from patients with recurrent urinary tract infection (RUTI) This study included 130 patients with RUTI, and 50 healthy persons as a control of both genders (aged 6-70 years) attending Al-Zahra Teaching Hospital in Al-Kut/Wassite governorate and Al-Harery Teaching Hospital of specialized surgeries/Baghdad during beginning of September 2009 to end of April 2011. Intracellular bacterial communities (ICBC) (namely E.coli) was isolated from (68/130) 53% from patients with RUTI. These bacteria showed differences in response to antibiotics which was used for treatment, Ciprofloxin, Amikacin and Gentamicin provide good efficacy against E.coli isolated from patients with recurrent UTI. Results of phenotipical studies on virulence factors of E.coli the revealed that 50% of RUTI isolates produced P-fimbria, 10.3% with S-fimbria, 36.8% have Dr-fimbria, 78% have type 1 fimbria and 22.1% of them produced aerobactin and all isolates gave negative results for hemolysin production.

Antipyrinethiosemicarbazone derivatives have been investigated as antioxidant in this work. The results of antioxidant activity coefficient (K) proved that all investigated compounds have good antioxidant activity. Investigation of the relation between antioxidant activity (K) and quantum-chemical parameters difference of heats of formation of a molecule and its cation radical ΔHf shows that the ΔHf values proportional with K values of investigated compounds.

The present study aimed to assess the interrelationship between serum total testosterone (S.Tes) as well as sex hormone binding globulin (SHBG) and the main components of metabolic syndrome (MetS) in type 2 diabetic men. One hundred and sixty patients having T2DM were enrolled in this study. The following characteristics were reported: age, gender, duration of T2DM , Body mass index (BMI) and arterial blood pressure.. Serum hormonal profile analyses (S.Tes, SHBG and prolactin). Serum lipid analyses (T.ch TG, HDL-C, and LDL-C). The mean age of study subjects was 49.8 5.7 years and the mean duration of disease was 5.45.2 years. Body mass index (BMI) of study group was found to be within the range of either overweight or obese class . The means of HbA1c ratio and FSG levels were 9.4 %  2.1 and 200.9  75.2 mg/dl respectively which indicated that our patients were in a bad glycemic control. All components of S. lipid profile were within normal range . Serum Testosterone and SHBG levels were within normal range but in the low values( 4.49±2.11 ,28.88±18.12 ng/ml respectively) while serum prolactin level was within normal range but in the high values (11.22±9.42 ng/ml). When study analytes were compared according to the presence of one or more metabolic syndrome characteristic then there was a significant decrease in mean value of testosterone level between obese and non obese diabetics ( 3.89±1.87 vs. 4.79±2.17 ng/ ml, P < 0.001) . If hypertension was present in addition to obesity and diabetes then SHBG level was also significantly decreased in comparison with diabetics who were hypertensive but not obese (25.16±13.42 vs. 33.58±13.73 ng/ ml respectively , P <0.05 ). If hypertension and obesity were present as well as lower HDL-C then significant decreases in both S. SHBG and S. Tes were detected ( (30.63±14.93 vs. 40.7± 6.33 ng/ ml and 3.73±1.9 vs. 5.57±1.53 ng/ ml respectively , P<0.01). In conclusion; our T2DM patients have a bad glycemic state and are characterized by a significantly lower S. Tes mean level if they were obese. Still, the accumulation of other main characteristics of MetS which included hypertension and lower S. HDL- C results in a significantly lower mean levels of both S. Tes and S. SHBG. Obesity, among the other core characteristics of MetS, seems to have the main suppressor effect on serum testosterone and SHBG in T2DM.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the positive effects of olive leaves extract on the alteration of some renal function test (urea, uric acid and creatinine) in serum of male rabbits that have been reared under heat stress conditions. Thirty , New Zealand white male rabbits,(12-14 weeks old and 1500-2000 gm in weight) are individually caged, for 30 days. The animals are divided into six groups(5 animals for each) control group and 5 experimental groups (reared under heat stress environment). The first experimental group heat stressed only, the other two groups have received every day, 1000mg/kg/bw and 2000mg/kg/bw respectively of dried extract of olive leaves put in capsules and fed orally, the rest two groups have received 200 mg/ml and 400mg/ml respectively of aqueous extract of olive leaves with drinking water every day of the experiment. The results show a significant increase of urea, uric acid and creatinine levels in sera of heat stressed rabbits, while there is an improvement of these three parameters in the animal treated with the dried and aqueous extracts in concentration dependent manner. In conclusion, these results confirm the positive healthful properties of olive as anti-heat stress products.

In this paper, to study the effect of relative core /shells rigidity, three cases have been considered. Core of less rigidity (Ec/Es <1.0), homogeneous rigidity (Ec/Es =1.0) and stiffer core (Ec/Es >1.0), the problem is analyzed numerically using the finite element computer program by using Biot consolidation of rectangle in plane strain (Four- node element).It was found that the factor of safety against tension cracking is increased as the depth of the core increases, and for Duncan and Sherard criteria, the factor of safety is about (1.2) for three planes that bounded the core, the values of Ec/Es is (0.7). However, the settlement, horizontal displacement and pore pressure are decreased as the ratio Ec/Es increased.
