AbstractThe present study was designed to examine the effect of potassium iodide for its efficacy to inducemorphological malformations and histopathological lesions of kidney of adult male mic€, pregnant mice andpups of Mus musculus .The results of the present study showed statistically a non-significant effect of kidney weight in the rapeutic,hyper & hypo dose groups compared with control group, while statistically showed significant (p:!0.01) deoeasein kidney weight of hyper, hypo dose groups in pregnant mice.The histological examination showed manylesions in the kidney of adult male mice, pregnant mice and pups . Abstract
The study includes isolation and identification of fungal causative agent of Tinea capitis. 50 specimen were
collect€d from out patients of Tikit hospital during the period fiom the start November 201I to the March 2012.
Dermatophytes were 96!o and 47o of non dermatophytes. These specimen were examined by direct mounl with
polassium hydroxide (KOH l0%) and culture on Sabourauds Dextrose Agar plates for isolation and
identification ofcausative fungi .The results showed that more types offungi , 25% ofTrichophytor violsccum
,l5yo 0f Microsporum audouinii, 5% of Trichophytotr sulphureum and 57o ofnon causative agents such as
Aspergillus 3Y'o , Fusaium 2Yo

Objective: The aim ofthis study was to establish th€ antibacterial activity ofthe extracts ofThymus r.ulgaris
against staphylococcus aureus in vitro.
The antibacterial activity of different concentrations in (0.25%,0.5o/o,l%,2yo) of the dried leaves and flowering
tops and oil ofThymus vulgaris were examined on fifty five isolates of staphylococcus aureus that isolated fiom
different samples (gingival , saliva and dental caries swabs) from patients of dental clinics of College of

Objectives: The present study was caried out to evaluate the effects of frequent blood transfusion on some
female sex hormones beside the effects and relations with other parameters and puberty in a goup of lraqi
female patients affected with R-thalassemia major at adolescent age (age 13-17), whom was attending the
Thalassemia Centre in Ibn-Al Atheer Pediatdcs Hospital in Mosul city in lraq. The study was conducted during
the period liom the l0h ofNovember (201l) to the 28s of May (2012) .

The study was included (66) undiagnosed aborted women at different stage of pregnancy compared with (40)
healthy subjects as control groups .
A high significant increase (P:Q.05) in The activity of alanine aminopeptidase in urine of single &recurrent
abortion first & secondtrimesters were shown (5.3+0.33) (10.E5*0.05)U/L qand (14.5+0.39) (22.71A.72)Ullrespectively compared to healthy subject (5i!A.24') (5.4+0.48) and (4.3+0.295)U/L for normal pregnant (1"
trimesters) ,
(2 nd trimesters) and non pregnant women . AAP was purified from urine of aborted women by
gel-filtration using sephadex (G-50) and two isoenzymes of AAP I,II were separated fiom urine samples by
using DEAE-cellulos .

The first part of the research includes the preparalion
of some a,ftcarbonyl compounds containing furan
ring in a basic medium, compounds(l -4), also some
difurylidine and furylidine benzylidine compounds
have been prepared from furfural and substituted
benzaldehydes and cyclohexanone, compounds(5-9)
in basic medium . The second part of the research
included the mercuration ofThe resulting compounds
with mercury (lI) chloride compounds( I 0- 19)
followed by symmeterisation with Nal to afford
compounds of the form (Fur)rHg (20-28). Some of
th€ mercurated compounds have been halogenated via
the replacement of-Hgcl by the reaction with iodine,
compounds (29-31). The third part of the research
included the biological activity of two ofthe prepared
compounds (3,4). All of the prepared compounds
have been identified by their melting points and lR
and IJV spectra and some ofthem by CHNS analysis
and NMR techniques.

Forty, Ross broiler chickens ( 21 days old) were allocated into four groups, fed diet supplemented either with
o,100,200,o1300 mg boron/kg diet, for 30 days. At the end of the experimental period , chickens were
slaughtered, livers and kidneys were examined histologically. Results indicated that boron in the doses over
l00mg/kg diet caused different kind of histological changes in livers and kidneys. Changes appeared dosedependent. Changes resulted liom this experiment indicated concenkation of boron over l00mg/kg diet could
be toxic to chickens .

Abstract
In this paper the synthesis and characterization of some binuclear complexes of cobalt (II), nickel(Il) and
cupper(fl) ions have been reported. These complexes have been prepared by the reaction of metal nitate or
chloride of the above transition metals with Schiff base ligand derived from benzil and malonyl hydrazide the
prepared complexes have the general formula: [M2(BDM[L)]LI and [Mr(BDM)] for neutral and basic mediums
respectively. Where M:Co(II), Ni(ll) and Cu(ll) ions, BDMHa:hydrazide ligand, and X: NO3- or Cl' ions. The
ligand and its complexes were characterized by elemenlal analysis, molar conductance, magnetic susceptibility
measurements, electronic and infiared spectroscopy. The ligand acts as an octadentate to form neutral complexes
with the melal ions under investigation the measurements showed that some of these prepared complexes have
an octahedral geometry (neutral medium) and the prepared complexes were in tetrahedral or squar planner
environment(basic medium). Powder x-ray diffraction technique was applied for two ofthe prepared complexes,
whereas crystal structural information's were obtained crystal symmetry, space group, unit cell, axis, unit cell
volume...etc

The study includes anti-cancer chemotherapy drugs activity on (COR-L23 and COR-L23R) cell line in vitro ,
and effects of Cisplatin on cell groMh and its apoptosis through treatment tlose cell with different time
interevals(4,6 and 18 hours) and different concentrations ofCisplatein and mixed chemotherapy: Cl (3000pM),
C2 (300pM), C3 (30pM). With using plate of 24 wells, the apoptosis results showed 81.92o/o ,77 .45yo ,70.73%
respectiyely ajod 68.920/o control group for 4 hr. For 6 hr were 90.68Yo ,79.95o/o, 71.56910 respectively and
70.99o/o aonjjol group .The results for l8 hr were 93.38o/o , 81.97% , 69.520/0 rcspectively and 64.567o control
group .
The results for Cisplatin resistance showed 90.4%, 84.72o/o,83.39o/" respectively ar,d 78.42o/o control $oup for
4hr,while the results for 6hr were 88.967o , 85.56Vo ,73.1o/o respectively and 64.219lo control group ,and for I 8hr
were 89.270/o,77 -78Yo,75.1olo respectively and 63.250/o control group .While the results for mixed chemotherapy
were 93-9o/o, 78-180/o,63-38%o respectively at],d 5l-48Vo for control group for 4hr.The result for 6hr were
93.95o/o,82.18Yo,79.47o respectively all.d 58-52o/o ,while the results for 18hr were 95-4o/o,84.72o/o,83-39Yo
respectively and 78.429lo for control group .

Abstract
An aniline derivative was extracted from crude oil received from Al- Dora refinery . The crude oil was dissolved
in toluene (l:3) and extracted through a column containing activated cationic resin t)?e Amberllte (15), then
eluted by absolute ethanol and identified by infra red spectroscopy.
FT-IR spectroscopy for the lubricant oil was performed before employing in an internal combustion engine and
15 working hours daily for seven days after. Il was seen that the FT-IR ofthe oxidized oil contains a new peak in
the region lE00- l7O0 cm-r, which is generated due to the oxidation process of the used oil which belongs to
carbonyl group. The FTIR specter for the formulated crude oil with a specific concentration of the extracted
substituted aniline after applying the same conditions of oxidation showed minimum peak intensity al l7l0 -
1770 cm
r than that observed in FT-IR done in absence ofextraaed compound .
The extracted sample was examined as antioxidant for lubricant oil stock 50 by manometric oxidation apparatus.
The values ofinduction periods in presence of(0.20 and 0.30) mol/l ofthe sample at 393 K were: (766 sec. 1630
sec.), while it was (55 sec.) in their absence .
The maximum rate ofoxidation for clean lubricant oil was (3.5 xl0-a) mol./l.sec. while they were: (3.0x104 and
2.0xl0a) mol/I. sec. after blending with extracted sample. These values were still not arrived the value of
maximum rate ofoxidation ofthe clean oil.
The same study was applied on the universal antioxidant inhibitor Unol (phenolic type) which his value of
stochiom€tric factor for inhibition (f) is equal to (2) under the same conditions, the obtained induction periods
were (150,290 sec.) respectively .

Abstract
The present work involved two steps: First step include some Mannich bases of substituted Isatin has been
synthesized by reacting Isatin with paraformaldehyde and secondary amine .
(4-Aminophenazone, Pyrazinamide,2,4-Diamino-6- phenyl-I,3,5- 1fiazine, 2,6- Diamino- 6- methyl-I,3,5-
triazine,2,4- Diamino- 6- hydroxy pyrimidin) to obtain Mannich bases (A-E). The second step include reduction
ofall Mannich bases which prepared in first step by using Aluminum pure powder to obtain compounds (F-J).

Asthma is a chronic disorder ofthe airways with underlying inflammation and oxidative stress. Malondialdehyde
(MDA) - the lipid peroxidation product- level increases in inflammatory diseases and used as a common
oxidative stress marker . Albumin and bilirubin, uric acid ; are components of antioxidant defense system.
Omega-3polyunsaturated fatty acids supplementations lead to decrease the inflammatory mediators thereby
decrease oxidative stress in asthmatics. Thirty seven asthmatic patients (20 females and l7 males) were involved
compared with 37 healthy controls. Plasma samples analyzed for total MDA, albumin bilirubin, and uric acid
before and after 3 weeks of supplementation of two types omega -3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (300mg/day) .
After 3weeks of supplementation the MDA level change along supplementation period (p< 0.05), but it still
significantly differ fiom control (p<0.01), albumin and bilirubin retum to conhol level with non-significant
difference flom control, while uric acid increase significantly. These results indicate the decrease oxidative stress
situation since MDA levels decrease while endogenous antioxidant molecules (albumin, bilirubin , and uric
acid) levels raised leading to conclude the valuable omega-3 fatty acids supplementation for asthmatic patients .

Abstrsct
In this work the preparation and characterisation of some new homo hetero tri-nuclear complexes of cobalt,
nickel and copper. These complexes were prepared by the reactions ofthe chloride and nitrate salts ofthe above
mentioned metals with the Schiff base ligand vanillidenesuccinohydrazide (VStIa)
, derived by the condensation
of vanillin and succinoloylhydrazine .
The isolated complexes have the general formulae :[M3(VSH4)rM, [MrM(VSrL):X6], [MM'M'(VSIl4)r)k],
Kr[M3(VS)r], Kr[M, M(VS)r] and Kr[MM'M"(VS)2];where M, M'M" are Co*2, Ni*2 and Cu*2, respectively,
VSHa and VS are the neutral and the tetra basic forms ofthe ligand and X = CI or NOr. Neutral complexes
(Type I) obtained from neutral medium and anionic complexes (Type ll) result from basic medium. The
characterisation and studies ofthe ligand and its complexes were carried out by elemental microanalysis, molar
conduclance, magnetic susceptibility and spectral measurements .
The above different studies revealed that tie metal ions are hexacoordinated in neutral complexes giving the
most probable octahedral structure, while the anionic complexes are tetracoordinated with the expected
tetrahedral or square planar geometries. In both types the ligand acts as hexadentate coordinating through
carbonyl (or enol) oxygen, azomethine nitrogen and phenoxide oxygen atoms. The composition and stability for
some of the complexes were studied in solution using Job method which showed l:l metal to ligand ratio and
similar stsbility constants .

Water Quality Index has been used in the present study to evaluate suitability of groundwater quality for
drinking purposes in Saqlawiyah city and surrounded area, Al anbar, Iraq . This was carried out by subjecting
twelve grouldwater samples, collected from twelve selected site, to comprehensive physico-chemical analysis .
WQI technique requires several parameters to satisry the calculations . These parameters include physical and
chemical characteristics of groundwater sampling such as: pH, total hardness, total dissolved solids, calcium,
magnesium, bicarbonate, chloride, nitrate and sulphate. The computed WQI shows that two wells (l l, 12) fall in
class tI (good water) while seven well (3,4,6,7,8,9,10,) fall in class III (poor water) and three wells ( I,2,5) fall in
class IV (very poor water) . The high value of WQI has been found to be mainly due to the higher values of
TDS, Cat2, Mg*2, Na*, Cl', SOa-'?and Nor'r where it was found that ther€ is a very high correlation coefficient
between them. Such waters are not suitable for drinking purposes under normal condition and further action for
salinity control is required .

Abstract
Normal faults Fl and F2 represents the general shucture of Balad Field. Which divided into three regions as:
northeastern shoulder, graben and southwestern shoulder . Depending on the reflectors Khasib, Hartha and Jeribe
Formations, these reflecto$ shows that Tertiary formations were not affected by these faults . These faults were
ended at the end ofthe precipitation of Hartha Formation at the end of Cretaceous period, also these formations
were slightly affected by the second phase of Alpine orogeny and the process offolding did not take place in the
geological formations. Therefore, the area was considered as block faulting

Image enhancement in Spatial Domain is the process of improving the quality of a digitally stored image by
manipulating the image pixel values with the help of software. Manipulation of pixel values perception . This
paper focuses mainly on spatial domain techniques for image enhancement using fuzzy concepts which includes
histogam distribution analysis, smoothing and fuzzy technique .
The proposed technique is able to improve the contrast of the image. The proposed technique is tested on
different type ofimages, like gray level low contrasted images, color low contrasted images

In this research, our concentration was to studies th€ effect of weight fiaction of the reinforcement
materials(carbon continuous fibers and carbon powder) on the behavior of altemating bending fatigue behavior
of the unsaturated polyest€r matrix(polymeric composite) .
The result ofthis study, reveals that the variation ofthe weight fraction percentage of reinforcement materials
could be affected the fatigue resistance ofthe composite produced .
It have been noticed that increases in the weight percentage fraction of carbon continuous fibers, contributed
effectively to improye the fatigue resistance, this reflects the longer fatigue life ofthe composites, that increase
in the fatigue life could be approach to more than (180) times, in the case ofusing carbon continuous fibers, at
the stress level (gMPa), and the percentage ofweight fraction (6wt%).
The result obtained offatigue test in the case ofusing carbon powder, suggests that the fatigue life depend on the
percentage of weight fraction, as the results also reveals some improyement in fatigue life three times and half
longer for the weight fraction (2,5wf/o), of carbon powder, but the higher weight fraction (6r,r,t3lo), reduced the
fatigue life to a two third compared to un reinforced base matrix

A k-arc in the plane PG(2,q) is a set ofk points such that every line in the plane intersects it in at most two points
and there is a line intersects it in exactly two points. The k-arc is complete ifthere is no k+l -arc containing it.
The main purpose of this paper is to study and find the projectively distinct k- arcs, k=4,5,6,7 in PG(2,37)
though the classification and construction of the projectively distinct k-arcs and finding the group of
projectivities of each projectively distinct k-arc and describing it. Also it was found that PG(2,37) has no

In this anicle we used the results of mathematical model which was built as a cipher keys by transforming these
results to the binary numbers to obtain a sequence of 0's and l's and test them by standard statistic tests to
guarantee a required random for this sequence .

In this paper, we have proposed a new variational Variable Metric (VM) method for solving unconstrained
optimization problems . Experimental results indicate that the new proposed method was efficient than the
standard BFGS method .
