In vitro antibiotic susceptibility and biofilm formation to Staphylococcus epidermidis isolates from

Abstract

Antibiotic susceptibility test showed that all isolates of
Staphylococcus epidermidis were resistant to penicillin G and
they have a high resistant to cefitriaxone & azithromycin ( 88.5 ,
87.2 ) % of isolates respectively . A moderate resistant shown in
resistance of isolates to amikacin (40% ) . While , the isolates were
less resistant to ofloxacin , ciprofloxacin , cephalothin &
vancomycin ( 20 , 14.3 , 11.4 , 10 ) % respectively . there were
high significant differences ( p<0.01 ) in susceptibility of isolates to
antibiotics except for cephalothin & vancomycin , also between
cefitriaxone & azithromycin under ( p<0.05 ) . 31 ( 44.3 % ) of
isolates had the ability to produced biofilm on a plastic surfaces of
microtiter plates .

Abstract

The present study investigated the role of the aqueous
extract of Apium graveolens seeds against the hematotoxicity
induced by carbon tetrachloride (CCl4) in female rats. The
females were divided into three groups each group contain six
animals as the following: the first group was the control group,
the second group treated intraperitoneally with 1 ml / kg of B.W. of
CCl4 for two weeks and the third group treated intraperitoneally
with 1 ml/ kg of B.W. of CCl4 + oral administration of 200 mg / kg
of B.W. of aqueous extract of Apium graveolens seeds for two
weeks. The result indicated that the CCl4 caused a significant
reduction (p < 0.01) in the count of the erythrocyte (R.B.C.),
hemoglobin (Hb.) level, and total leukocyte (W.B.C.) count and
non significant decreased in the level of mean cell volume (MCV.)
and Monocyte (MON.) percentage compared with the control
group, also treated with the CCl4 caused non significant
increased in mean corpuscular haemoglobin concentration
(MCHC.) level and Lymphocyte (LYM.) percentage compared with
the female rats of control group . Administered of aqueous extract
of Apium graveolens seeds at 200 mg / kg of B.W. for two
weeks showed a significant increased (p < 0.01) in the count of
erythrocyte (R.B.C.), hemoglobin (Hb.) level, and total leukocyte
(W.B.C.) count, and non significant increased in the mean cell
volume (MCV). level and percentage of Monocyte (MON.), also
treated with aqueous extract of Apium graveolens seeds indicated
non significant decreased in mean corpuscular haemoglobin
concentration (MCHC.) level and Lymphocyte (LYM.) percentage
compared with the CCl4 treated group. The study indicated the
important effect of aqueous extract of Apium graveolens seeds in
recovery of these hematological parameters above toward
normal value compared with CCl4 treated group and compared
with control group.

المحطة الثانیة خلال فصل الشتاء بینما بلغ ادنى معدل لھ 3 ملغم/لتر في المحطة الثالثة خلال فصل الصیف. استنتج من الدراسة بأن تراكیز العناصر في الماء للجزء الذائب كانت ضمن التراكیز المسموح بھا وكان تراكیزھا في الرواسب اعلى مما ھو علیھ في الماء لكنھا ضمن المدى المقبول كما لوحظت علافة معنویة بین تركیز العناصر والمادة العضویة من جھة وبین اعداد البكتریا والمادة العضویة من جھة اخرى.

Abstract

The effect of cold and hot water , methanol and ethanol extracts of leaves of Conocarpus erectus plant on Alternaria solani and Ulocladium botrytis fungi isolated from Cucumis melo var. flexuosus roots were tested . When treatmented Alternaria solani the (100%) highest inhibition percentage of methanol and ethanol extracts and (78.3 , 77.7%) for cold and hot water extracts, respectively on (45) mg/ml . In the case of Ulocladium botrytis also the highest percentage (100%) inhibition ofmethanol and ethanol extracts in (30 and 40) mg/ml , as hot and cold water extracts inhibition percentage above of (88.8 and 86.1%) respectively on (45) mg/ml. Tested effect plant extracts in germination of plant , It was found that the percentage of germination was decreased at the concentration (15) mg/ml of cold water and ethanol extracts and of (30) mg/ml of methanol extract ; The other extracts were approximate to germination percentage of control .

In this work, we proposed a new application of modified Adomian decomposition method (MADM) to solve the advection, KdV and K(2,2) equations depend on the idea of El-Kalla [7]. We prove the convergence of MADM applied to these equations. Our results are compared with those obtained by Adomian decomposition method (ADM). The numerical results show that the present method has high accuracy, fast convergence and large convergence region.

Been prepared azo dye [1,1-Bi phenyl]-4,4diylbis- (azo)]-bis- [Resorcinol] and thermodynamic study on the adsorbed Surface of the Activated charcoal and select the contact time and concentration of equilibrium Spectrally by a UV-spectrophotometer, and applied the Langmair and Frendlich equations on the results obtained. The results showed that the adsorption on the surface of activated charcoal Following (Frendlich equation) of adsorption It is the type of S4 at a range of temperatures (298-328k), was also study the effect of temperature And pH in the adsorption of the dye on the surface of activated charcoal. The results showed that the amount of adsorption increases increasing the temperature which means that the adsorption(Endothermic)and increasing the alkalinity of the solution. The thermodynamic functions (ΔG º, ΔH º, ΔS º) of the dye for their adsorption have been calculated.

Abstract

The present study involved preparation of an alkaloid ricinine from the extract of the castor bean (Ricinus communis) seed. Then, these alkaloid administrated orally at dose (0.08 mg/gm) to female mice for 30 days to explore their possible it's influences on fertility (fertility rate, percentage of fertility, fetal number, weight, malformation, mortality of pups), and some blood parameters(R.B.cs, W.B.cs, Hb. and P.C.V) . The results indicated a significant decreased (P<0.05) in number of pups, weight of pups, fertility rate and percentage of fertility, but hadn't preview malformation and mortality states. Also, the results showed a significant decreasing (P<0.01) in R.B.cs, Hb and P.C.V. value compare with control group, exception in W.B.cs parameter have not shown any significant differences.

Prevalence of different Parasitic stages in commercial Vegetables in Al-Nassiriyah city, Iraq

Abstract

The present study was carried out to evaluate some of the vegetable which found in vegetables market in Al-Nassiriyah city. To check whether they harbor different parasites stages. In February and June 2009, we collected different types of winter and summer vegetables that are frequently eaten raw. Winter vegetables samples include parsley, garden cress, lettuce, tomato and celery while summer vegetables consist of radish, pepper, cucumber, tomato and celery. The samples were analyzed in the laboratory for parasitic stages contained in these samples. The examination showed contamination of these vegetables with many types of parasitic stages. Entamoeba Spp.was the most common parasite detected 41(%25.30 ) followed by Ascris lumbricoides 33 (%20.37 ), Giardia lamblia 28 (%17.28 ), Fasciola spp.26 (%16.04 ), Trichuris tricura 9(%5.55 ) , Toxocara Spp.7 (%4.32 ), Taenia Spp . 7(%4.32), Hymenolepis nana 6(%3.70) and Strongyloides stercoralis 5 (%3.08). Parasites were significantly more frequent in winter's vegetables 107 (%66.04) than in summer's vegetables 55 (%33.95). The highest prevalence of parasitic stages in winter's vegetables was recorder in lettuce 32(%19.75) followed by celery 31(%19.13) , cress 18 (%11.11) , parsley 17(%10.49) and tomato 9(%5.55). in summer's vegetables the prevalence of parasitic stages was found to be radish 22 (%13.58), celery 21(%12.96) , tomato 7(%4.32) , cucumber 3(%1.85) and pepper 2(%1.23) .Also we noticed that a simple washing at home is not effective for eliminating the parasitic stages from these vegetables.

The present study was designed to determined the number of infection of influenza in Thi-Qar governorate from the beginning of January till the ending of December 2010.The total number of Influenza cases was 35455 and a significant differences P≤0.001 were recorded in the infection percentage of months and December was the highest month distribution 16.5 %, a significant differences were shown between age groups P≤0.01 and a high percentage of infection 34.3 % was found in age group 15-44 years which followed by 23.1 % in age group 5-14 years.The high diffusion factor of Influenza was found in Al-Chiebaish distinct 49.5 per thousand.

Abstract

A comparative physiological study of the salt tolerance of two plant species kidney bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) and cow pea ( Vigna sinensis L. ) have been carried out . The study included the effect of NaCl at concentrations ( 0 , 50 , 100 , 150 and 200 ) m Mol / L on the concentrations of proteins , proline and carbohydrates , as well as of plant pigments ( chlorophyll and carotenoids ) in the shoot system . The results of the study were revealed that , an increase of salinity caused increase in proteins , proline and carbohydrates , and a decrease on the concentrations of plant pigments ( chlorophyll A and B ) , total chlorophyll and carotenoids in the shoot system of the two plant species at all concentrations , and a clear significance differences were noticed .

In this paper, a full finite volume method is studied for the two-dimensional linear convection- diffusion problem. A linear convection term is approximated by the upwind finite element method considered over a mesh to the triangular grid, whereas the linear diffusion term is approximated by using divergence theorem and approximate the direction derivative by difference quotient. The elliptic property, the discrete conservation law and local truncation error of this method are proved under some assumption on the numerical fluxes.

Abstract

One of the needs of various accelerators to stimulate recent developments in calculating the energy loss of charged particles in matter is heavy ion ionization energy loss. Bloch incorporates Bethe and Bohr theory in a very transparent way. Thus, Bloch found the bridging formulation between the classical Bohr impact – parameter approach, and the quantized Bethe momentum transfer approach to energy loss. In this paper, the behavior of Bloch correction of protons in Aluminum (Al) and Gold (Au) has been studied as well as Bloch correction have also been measured of protons and alpha particles in Nitrogen (N). We have described an implementation of Bloch correction to stopping power (dE⁄dx) in order to take into account the deviations from the Bethe theory at (non – relativistic) and (relativistic) velocities as well as the effects at ultra – relativistic velocities. Abstract

The present study conducted on 4886 patients (3318 males (63.81%) and 1768 females (36.19%)), whom consulted the main blood transfusion center in Thi-Qar province from 2006 to 2010 and subjected to the detection of Hepatitis A, B and C tests by ELISA technique.The results of the study showed a positive sera of 187 patients for Hepatitis A, B and C with a total infection percentage of 3.83% for the three viral types .The viral infections of hepatitis A, B and C were distributed as 37 (19.79%), 106 (56.68%) and 44 (23.53%) infection, respectively (p< 0.001). A significant increased in the number of the infected males by the three viruses was recorded with 123 males (65.78%), instead of 64 females (34.22%) (p< 0.001).The age of the infected patients were ranged between one year and 85 years. The age group of 15 – 45 recorded the highest number for the three types of viral infections with 102 patient (54.55%), while the group aged 1 – 4 recorded the lowest of infections with 16 patients (8.56%)(p< 0.001).The highest number of hepatitis A, B and C infections was recorded in July with 26 patients(13.90%), while November recorded the lowest ones with nine patients (4.81%) (p< 0.05). When the hepatitis A, B and C infections were distributed at Thi-Qar five medical sectors ( Al-Nassyriah, Al-Shatra, Al-Refaae, Al-Kebaesh and Suk Al-ShuuK) for the five years included in the study, the results of the present study showed that Al-Nassyriah sector recorded the highest number of infection by the three viral types with 96 patients (51.34%). While the lowest number of infections was recorded in Al-Kebaesh sector with nine patients (4.81%) (p< 0.001).

Abstract

This study was designed to assess the pathological changes in kidneys after twenty days from induction of diabetes mellitus in female rabbits.Sixteen female rabbits were used in this experiment and divided into two equal groups: diabetic group (Df) and control group (Cf). Animals were housed in cages under 12/12 h light/dark cycle at 25±2 °C& 60% relative humidity with standard granulated food & water available ad libitium. The animals were left one month for adaptation. Diabetes mellitus was induced by i.v injection of alloxan monohydrate at dose rate 100 mg/kg dissolved in 1 ml of normal saline, while the control group was injected with 1 ml of normal saline. Blood was collected after three days to check fasting serum glucose. The procedure of alloxan injection and blood collection were made on empty stomach. The laboratory tests including serum glucose estimation at days (0, 3, 10 and 20) days. After taking blood samples four rabbits were sacrificed by decapitation. The kidneys were removed for histopathological study by using H/E stains. We found the following results according to the periods of the experiments: Serum glucose level was elevated, by checking after 3 days of injection of alloxan, and still elevated to the end of the experiment. The histopathological results after 10 days of induction of diabetes revealed that there were edema, hypertrophy and hypercellularity of glomeruli without any cast or inflammation, while there were necrosis as well as glomerular swelling after 20 days of induction of diabetes.

Abstract

In this study, we made a supervised classification of the satellite imagery for the neighboring regions around the Orientation of the College of Science in Thi Qar University to know the features of the earth cover accurately. These features may really effects the contents of the local environment inside the College, where some of biological tests and experiments are made.The aim of this study is to get accurate information about the percentage of the land cover there from a high resolution image (3 m). Such image is very difficult to be classified by the standard methods of classification with the common software like (ERDAS Imagine). So, we develop our classification by certain manual treatments by using the tools of the (Adobe Photoshop) package to make final map and the accurate percentages.
