A Comprehensive Survey for Toxoplasmosis for the period (1991-2007) and the Using ELISA for Diagnosis of Toxoplasmosis in Pregnant Women in Nineveh Governorate

Abstract

The current study deals with two major aspects: the first is analysing statistical information documented at Health Care
Department in Mosul from 1991 up to 2007. The second is evaluating serological test immunoglobuline (IgM) by
(ELISA) test in order to identify toxoplasmosis. The result of the study showed the highest level of parasite toxoplasma
gondii infection was through the years 2000,2001, and 2002, with an average of infection 76.42, 62.67, 56.67
respectively, While the results of (ELISA) test indicated that (14) cases were positive out of (242) cases, and its ratio
was 5.78%. As concern age group the highest range of infection is between (15-20) years old, where the percentage
reached at 32% and 18% for the age between (21-25) years old, 12% for the ages between (26-30) years old, 10% for
the ages between (31-35) years old and 8% for the ages between (36-40) years old, then it is 20% for the ages between
(41-45) years old.

Abstract

The survey indicates that the pollution of agricultural soil by petroleum residues has negative effects on some field
description of different categories of wheat and malt crops where the level of the fallen pollution ( 1000 ppm ) has
significant increasing in plants length , dry weight of crops categories through survey , where the high levels ( 2000 &
4000 ppm ) have significant decreasing in the two characteristic , the characters and the crops where effected differently
, on the other hand , washing soil ( silt and sandy ) by water and in some time water with some detergent on other times
causes significant elimination of petroleum residues which cause soil pollution during the survey , the ratio of
elimination in sandy soil was more than that in silt soil , and also washing process with detergent eliminates petroleum
residues more than washing by water alone , the survey also includes the effects of frequent washing of water and water
with detergents which lead to celerity and seed germination of wheat crops seeds and the results indicates that
elimination process increases with frequent washing which increase the two characters where the increasing of sandy
soil was more than that of silt and the detergents of washing water increase the two characters and the two textures .

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to know the prevalence of microorganisms in odontogenic infections and the antibiotics
sensitivity test for these isolated microorganisms in patients in Al-Door city by studying (19)females and (6)males .It
showed that Viridans Streptococci, Aeromonas, commensal Neisseria sp., Haemophilus sp., Enterobacter
,Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus sp. was isolated from patients suffer from odontogenic infections. Erythromycin,
gentamycin, tetracycline, tobramycin, rifampicin are more effected for isolated bacteria .Health education programs to
improve oral hygiene practice should be considered.

Abstract

The adhesion of two different Bifidobacterium strains was studied using HT-29 cell line as in vitro model for intestinal
epithelium. All the strains tested have been used as probiotics, and most of them are used in the dairy and food industry.
Bifidobacterium longum BB536 was used as positive control. Bacteria adhesion to HT-29 cell culture observed
microscopically after Gram staining. Among the test strains, Bifidobacteruim longum BB536 was the most adhesion
strain compared with Bifidobacterium pseudocatenulatum G4. For the pH there is significant different in the adhesion in
the different part of the colon, whereas observe the best adhesion in pH 5.7 (Transverse) for the both strains

Abstract

This study is designed for isolation and identification of some saponin compounds from nigella sativa(seeds), and to

Abstract

Ethyl N-(N`-aryl glycinyl) anthranilate (1,2) have been prepared by the reaction of ethyl anthranilate with N-aryl
glycinyl chloride. The synthesized compounds (1,2) were allowed to react with hydrazine hydrate in n-butanol to afford
2-substituted -3- aminoquinazolin-4-one (3,4). Compounds (3,4) were reacted with some acids derivatives (acetic
anhydride, triflouroacetic anhydride, benzoyl chloride and dimethyl carbonate) and formic acid, to give 3,4- dihydro1,2,4-triazino [6,1-b] quinazolin -4- one derivatives (5-14). The identification of the synthesized compounds were

Abstract

The present study tacked the effect of the aqueous plant extracts of Melia azedarach fruits and Nerium oleander leaves
and fruits on Leishmania tropica promastigotes growing on Tobie's medium to which 15 % of human blood is added.
The results indicated that these extracts have poisonous effect on the promastigotes of L. tropica. The used
concentrations were 0.75, 1, 1.5, 2.5, 5 mg/ml for fruits extract of M. azedarach, 0.05, 0.25, 0.5, 1, 2.5 mg/ml for leaves
extract of N. oleander and 0.5, 1, 1.75, 2.5, 5 mg/ml for fruits extract of N. oleander, and caused gradual inhibition of
promastigotes number with the increase of concentration through different growth periods 24, 48, 72, 96 hours.
The high concentrations 5 mg/ml for fruits of M. azedarach 2.5 mg/ml for leaves of N. oleander and 5 mg/ml for fruits
of N. oleander caused inhibition of the promastigotes growth of L. tropica at rates 97 % , 71.9 % and 81.5 respectively
during 96 hours of growth.
The IC50 concentration for extracts were determined which were 0.75, 1, 1.75 mg/ml for M. azedarach fruits, N.
oleander leaves and fruits extracts respectively during 96 hour of growth

Abstract

This research has been done to determine the effects of some biochemical parameters in women with breast cancer.
Seventy three blood samples of women with breast cancer and other twenty blood samples of healthy women as control
group at ages ranging from 45-70 years, living in Mosul city. Some vitamins, trace elements and electrolytes were
measured in these women. The results showed a significant decrease in vitamins A, C and E (as antioxidants) of breast
cancer women as compared with the control group, while sodium and chloride levels were significantly increased, but
there was no change in potassium level in those patient. This study showed a significant decrease in zinc level, while
there was a significant increase in calcium level, and the magnesium level has no change in breast cancer women
compared with control group

DMF media . Cd2+ was determined spectrophotometrically in pH 9 (The buffer produced from NH4OH,CH3COONH4)
and λmax 550nm using PAN as a reagent in DMF, Beer-Lambert low was obeyed in the range (0.05-2 mg/l) with
detection limit was 0.04 mg/l , ε=5.4*104L/mol.cm .Precision and accuracy of the method were studied (S.D=1*10-3
,%E=-0.18-+2.56) and interferences of dominant cations were studied . The method converted to flow injection analysis
in pH 8.5 the range became (0.5-8 mg/l) in the same λmax , solvent and reagent ,detection limit become 0.2 mg/l,
ε=1.2*104L/mol.cm . Precision and accuracy of the method was studied (S.D=0.28_-3.6,%E=-2.17-+1.72) and
interferences of dominant cations were studied . 90 sample was determined in one hour in FIA. This method could be
applied to the rapid and simple determination of cadmium in real sample .

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to recognize the histological alterations that occurred in the parotid glands of mice fed a
liquid diet compared to a solid diet. Thirty-six mice were randomly divided into two groups. The control group received
a solid diet, and the experimental group received a liquid diet. The mice were killed after 21 days. The glands were
prepared for histological technique in paraffin wax and examined by a light microscope. The results showed a
statistically significant reduction of the parotid gland acini diameter of the mice from the experimental group compared
to the control group, in which the diameter of serous acini in experimental group was (22.2) and in the control group
was (29.13), there was no significant reduction in the diameter of striated ducts, and no significant reduction in
interstitial connective tissue. The conclusion was the reduction in diameter of serous acini is greatly related to the
decrease in the need of masticatory function.

Abstract

Principal components analysis (PCA) were applied on the physical, chemical and biological water quality parameter
from Tigris river within Mosul city, to give simpler and more easily interpretation results for the evaluation of these
parameters. The PCA produced five significant main components explain more than 78% of the variance, Namely,
seasonal effects, Mosul reservoir effects, agricultural and storm water effects, geological effect, and disposed
wastewater effect; that represent 31.19%, 18.6%, 12.56%, 9.62% and 6.12% respectively of the total variance of water
quality in Tigris river. Moreover, each parameter described with more than 50% in these five components. Finally the
results of PCA reflected a good look on the water quality monitoring and interpretation of the surface water

Abstract

1,1-Bis (4-chlorophenyl) ethanol and 1,1-Bis (4-chlorophenyl)-2,2,2-trichloroethanol (which are the active ingredient of
Qikron and Dicofol pesticides) were synthesized via developed and derived procedure. Treatment of phenyl magnesium
bromide (Gringard reagent) with acetophenone gave the 1,1-diphenyl ethanol, chlorination of the obtained product in
glacial acetic acid gave 1,1-Bis (4-chlorophenyl) ethanol in good yield. Chlorination of the methyl group in the obtained
product in presence of ultraviolet light (UV) and heat gave the 1,1-Bis (4-chlorophenyl)-2,2,2-trichloroethanol in good
yield.
The products were identified by physical, chemical, spectroscopic and element analysis. The bioassay was also
measured for the obtained compounds.

metal content analyses, IR, electronic spectroscopy, magnetic susceptibility and conductivity measurements. I.R spectra
confirm coordination of amide nitrogens to the central metal ion. An octahedral geometry has been suggested for all the
complexes. The molar conductance values of the complexes show that they are 1:1 electrolytes.

Abstract

Eleven varieties of barley and their F2 dialel hybrids were used to study : Maturity time , number of spikes , length spike
, number of grains per spik , grain yield and protein content. The results indicated that additive genetic variance was
significant for all the studied characters, exept spike lenghth and protein contents. The dominance genetic variance was
significant for all characters and its values were greater than additive variance for the studied characters and the
summation dominance effect of heterozygous loci H2 was significant for the number of grains per spike only, this
indicates the presence of an accumulated dominance effect of heterozygous loci on these characters , the valves of
average degree of dommance showed over dominance effect controlled all characters , and (K) values indicate the
presence of one parir of dominant genes that control all characters , the heritability , in the narrow sense was high for all
studied characters exept the spike length

Abstract

The present study was conducted on adult males rats Rattus norvegicus with body weight ranged between (200-350)
gm.
The results indicates that the male rats that were given ethanol extract of mature fruit of Melia azedarach L. daily for
four weeks in concentration (2500 , 5000 , 10000 mg/kg. B.W.) showed no clear clinical signs except of lassitude.
The alcohol extract in the concentration of 2500 mg/kg. B.W. of the mature fruit extract caused necrosis and
degradation spermatogenic and sertoli cells, spermatocytes cells, sperms, interstitial cells. But at concentration of 5000
mg/kg. B.W. caused atrophy of seminiferous tubules and destraction of some of them. The histopathdogical alteration
as a result of an increase concentration up to 10000 mg/kg. B.W. showed complete necrosis of seminiferous tubules and
degradation of all components as a result the seminiferous tubules appeared as an irregular sacs .

Abstract

The results of toxicity and histopathological effects study of Fastac 5٪ E.C , Medamec 1.8٪ E.C and Runner 240 S.C,
revealed that the toxicity of insecticides to the larvae of potato tuber moth were varied according to the king of
insecticides. The Medamec showed a very high effect on larvae compared with the Fastac which comes in the second
position whereas the Runner was the lowest, there values of LC50 were 0.00022, 0.0028, 0.27 respectively.
The tissue sections of mid-gut larvae of potato tuber moth showed that the LC50 concentration of insecticides used in
this study caused destruction to epithelial cells of mid-gut canuls of the separation of longitudinal and circular muscles of
epithelial layers. Besides the destruction of the basement membrane and peritrophic membrane and the great number of
gaps among cells as a result of destruction of desosomes. This effect on the function of mid-gut was one of the principal
causes which led to the inhibition of digestion process and absorption of food which caused death to the larvae after a
short period of treatment

Abstract

The present study includes the examination of 1420 pupils of both sexes belonging to 24 primary schools in the right
side of Mosul city , 350 goats and 300 sheeps revealed the percentage of infections of these hosts with the lice which
were 33.2% , 16.3% , 11.7% , respectively.
In concern of human lice , the percentage of infection of females were 41.3% which was higher than males 25.1%.
Among female girls the higher percent of infections was in the group of 8 and 10 years which were 21.4 % and 11.8 %
respectively .By the same token ,the percentage of infection with lice was higher 31.7% among pupils of uneducated
parents composed with educated parents 18.9% .
Also the percentage of infection with lice were more 27.5% among families with more than 5 individuals for female and
was14.6% for males .concerning the head lice ,their percentage of infection was more in straight hairs 30.3% compared
with cured hairs 10.0 %.
The percentage of infection of goats was 16.3% which was higher than that of sheep which was 11.7% ,.The prevalence
of sucking louse Linoganthus stenopsis 28.6% was higher that the biting louse Damalina caprae 14 %.
The louse Damalinia ovis 42.9% was more prevalence in sheep .The mixed infections in both species of lice in goats
61.4 % were higher than in sheep 28.6%

Abstract

The development of spectrophotometric method for determination of Aluminum in pharmaceutical preparations which
included reaction of aluminum with Alizarin Red S in acidic medium where done creating a colour complex using
spectrophotometric technique. All parameters for the measurements are optimized and aluminum was determined at
max = 486nm. The (Al-Alizarine Red S) reaction is sensitive and selective for determination of aluminum over the
concentration range (0.25-20)g.ml-1 with a percentage linearity was 99.58%, the detection limit (D.L. = 3.1×10-4
g.ml-1
) with repeatability not exceed the relative error (2%), correlation coefficient (r = 0.9979), relative standard
deviation (RSD%) at 10 g.ml-1
= 1.8 and recovery (Rec.% = 99.89). The interferces of elements were studied and was
noticed that it had little or no effect. The complexation ratio of complex as found to be (1:2= Al-ARS) at pH=4.5 . The
method was applied for determination of aluminum in some of Anti-acid drugs from different supplied companies

Abstract

The spectrophotometric estimation of Cu(II) based on complexation reaction with alizarin red S (1, 2-
dihydroxyanthraquinone sulfonate, ARS) has been studded under experimental conditions ( pH of the sample and the
mole ratio of Ligand: Cu (II)). The interfering effects of different foreign ions were investigated. Copper ion was
determined by measuring the absorbance of the Cu (II):ARS complex at 510 nm with pH = 5. Beer’s law was obeyed
over the concentration range of 0.0011 – 0.0320 M, and the detection limit (S/N = 3) was 0.038 μ g/ ml. The relative
standard deviation at 20 μ g/ ml was 1.02% (n = 5). This method is simple and sensitive for determination of Cu (II) ion
and was applied for environmental and biological samples token from Iraqi environment.

Abstract

The prevalence of Entamoeba histolytica in Baiji area and the effect of Punica granatum rind extract on the parasite
growth were studied .Stool samples collected from(118)males and(100)females during June2006-Feb.2007, at Baiji
private clinical labs,were examined for E. histolytica using both direct examination and concentration (by zinc
sulphate) methods.
According to these two methods ,it was found that the total percentage of infection was 61.2% & 70.7% respectively,
while in males was 31.2%&35.8% and in females was 30.3% & 34.9%. In children 7-12 years the highest percentage of
infection was 17.4% ,it was found also that infection was higher in villages 38.1% than in the city 32.1% and in summer
37.6% than in winter 34.9%.
After isolation and successful growing of E. histolytica on Liver Infusion Agar, the effect of different concentrations of
aqueous and alcoholic plant extracts of Punica granatum on the parasite was tested .It was found that at certain
concentrations of these extracts the parasite was completely inhibited.The tested extracts at IC50 were found to cause a
clear reduction in protein, RNA and DNA of the parasite

soyaIbaa, Lee74, Takka 2, Tn12 and Qt5) growed in density (12 grains/m. long produced 200 000 plant /H. and 24
grain/m .long prodused 100 000 plant / H) by Randomized complet Block Design with three replicates.
The results shared that the increasing of spacing between the plants (low densinty) caused higher yields character and
its components and other linked characters, significant differences on 5% were showed in number of pods, seeds in
plant, plant height and number of fruit branchs, an increasing in number of pods and seeds in plants in some varities had
been, which caused increasing in single plant yield. SoyaIbaa variety showed higher yield in densities (13.44 and 8.30
gm) respectively, significant differences were been in low density with Hawija variety (10.59), and high pod numbers
(39.48 and 66.01), high plant height (102.94 and 124.30 cm) in two densities respectively, high seed numbers in the
plant in low density (161.63), also the variety (Hawija) showed high data in 100 seed weight showed high weight (8.40
gm ) in high density, also Tn12 variety showed ahigh weight of 100 grains (9.37 gm) in low densties, produced low pod
numbers in the two densties, and number of seeds in high density

Abstract

The inhibitory effects of alcoholic extracts of single and combination of leaves of myrthle;olive;orange;and fruits of
pomegranate;on the growth ofAlternaria alternata were studied.
Through the study the effect of pure alcoholic extracts, it was proved that they had variable effects, and the most
inhibitory effect on fungal growth was achieved by the alcoholic extract of myrtus was(94.44,83.33) % at (30,40)
mg/ml. The alcoholic extract of fruits of pomegranate produced 86.67% inhibition at 40 mg/ml
The inhibitory effect of combination of alcoholic extrats showed variable results. The most effective were the alcoholic
extracts of myrtus, olive, fruits of pomegranate at the concentrate (30,40) mg/ml with 100% inhibition.
It was concluded that the combinations of alcoholic extracts had a profound effect on the correlation coefficient between
colonies diameter . It was found that significant synergism in the mixture of mytrus and olive and the mixture of mytrus
and fruits of pomegranate at the concentrations of (30,40) mg/ml

Abstract

The cowpea weevil Callosobruchus maculatus (Fab.) considered to be one of the important insect pests which infested
leguminous crops, especially cowpea and the chickpea seeds, and causes agreat damage to these seeds, this research
aims to study the effect of gamma ray with dose of 0, 1, 1.5, 2 and 2.5 kilorad on biology of this insect.
1.The effect of gamma ray on eggs :
The effect of gamma ray was great on the eggs biology and the ratio of eggs hatching which 0 and 9.166% at dose of
2.5 kilorad to one and three days old respectively compared with 94.997% at the dose of 0 kilorad. Concerning the
larval stage, pupal stage period and mortality were increased and this dose caused fail of adult emerge.
2.The effect of gamma ray on larval stage:
It was faund significant in the larval period which was the longest old larvae 21.00 days at the dose of 2.5 kilorad for
larvae 5 day age of the first generation, whereas, the shorter period was 14.97 days at dose of 0 kilorad in the first
generation. The percentage mortality at larval and pupal stage olso increased. The number of adult emergence and
percentage ratio of female fecundity was reduced greatly at the dose of 2.5 kilorad.
3. The effect of gamma ray on pupal stage :
The pupal stage period appeared significant increasing and the longest period was 10 days at the dose of 2.5 kilorad in
the second generation ,whereas, the shortest period was 7.35 days at the dose of 0 kilorad for the first generation . The
death ratio increased in the pupal stage and the number of adult produced decreased at the same dose in the second
generation.
4. The effect of gamma ray on adults :
The ray had a great effect on the hatching ratio, and it reached the lowest ratio 30.62% at 2.5 kilorad dose for the first
generation ,whereas, the highest ratio for hatching was 94.15% at 0 kilorad dose. The larval and pupal stage period and
death ratio increased at these doses ,while, the number of insects produced was very decreased also, the productive
percentage of the female was decreased and which was 32.9% at 2.5 kilorad dose.

Abstract

The effect of lipopolysaccharide (LpS) extracted from Escherichia coli was investigated on non-specific cellular
immunity represented by phagocytosis and on total and differential count of leucocytes in BALB/C mice infected with
toxoplasmosis. By measurement of phagocytic index in activated mice with LpS in comparison with the control. The
results revealed that phagocytosis was significantly higher in mice activated with LpS represented by an increase in the
phagocytic index (94.11%) at 2000 g /20gm body weight . The results showed that LpS activates macrophage and
stimulates proliferation of lymphocytes and infiltration and migration of neutrophils and monocytes to the sites of
infection. It appeared that the LpS extract was a non- specific immune modulator to macrophages and had the ability to
enhance the immune system of mice against this infection

Abstract

This research includes the determination of Isoniazid(INH) and Chloroquine Sulphate (CqS) drugs by the formation of
ion association pairs with [PdI4]
-2
complex . Red–brown color solution is formed which give maxmum absorption at λ=
284 and 362 nm for Isoniazid and at 294 and 360 nm for CqS .
The analytical results are as follow :
1- The optimum conditions for the determination of Isoniazid by forming the ion association pair with [PdI4]
-2 were :
pH= 1.5, reaction time of 15 minutes, with ratio of (4 ml of organic phase/ 5 ml of aqueous phase) and mixing time is
not exceeding 4 minutes and the best organic solvent was found to be 1,2- dichloroethane
The statistical and other analytical results for the concentration range (1.0–17.5) ppm were as follow:
Correlation coefficient r = 0.9990 and r = 0.9995, detection limit is 0.0151 and 0.0227 ppm, Molar absorption
coefficient is 9226.83 and 10104.27 L/mol.cm, Sandel,
s sensitivity is 0.0149 and 0.0136 µg/cm2 and RSD 0.0761%
and 0.1692 at λ= 284 and 362 nm respectively, the ion pair showed good stability with the time .
This method was applied for the determination of Isoniazid in tablets with recovery of 100.45 % for direct method and
was 96.67 % for standard addition method .
2- Similarly, CqS was determined with optimum conditions of pH = 3 , the ratio was ( 4 ml of organic phase / 5 ml of
aqueous phase ) and the mixing time does not exceed 1 minute . the best organic solvent was 1,2- dichloroethane .
The statistical and other analytical results for the concentration range (12.5 – 0.5) ppm were as follow : Correlation
coefficient r = 0.9995 and r = 0.9994, detection limit is 0.0173 and 0.0131 ppm, molar absorption coefficient is
51709.6 and 26508.8 L/mol.cm, Sandel,
s sensitivity is 0.0084 and 0.0164 µg/cm2 and RSD 0.0847% and 0.8837% at
294 and 360 nm respectively, the ion pair showed good stability with time

Abstract

The research included the detection of Polyamine oxidase (PAO) activity in Green Tea(Camellia sinensis) plant.
Optimal conditions for crude PAO activity were determined in plant using spermine as substrate . PAO activity was
found to be proportional with time of reaction up to(120)sec. The maximum activity was obtained by using Citric acid -
NaOH buffer solution at pH=5, Incubation time (5)min, temperature (30)Cº and(250)microlitre . By using LinweaverBurk plot, it was found that Vmax to be (88.33)enzyme unit/ml and the Km value to be (2)mM with spermine as
substrate . Li+1 was the most potent activator for PAO activity, it activated enzyme by 633.28% PAO was purified from
GreenTea plant by the extraction with distilled water and by using precipitation with ammonium sulphate, dialysis and
anion exchange chromatography (DEAE-Cellulose). Three PAO isoenzymes I, II and III were obtained, with specific
activity of 51.36, 61.26 and 138.88 enzyme unit/ml protein respectively and with purification fold of 7.12, 15.62, and
14.25 respectively, compared to crude enzyme. Some properties of partially purified PAO isoenzymes were studied , I
and III isoensymes were found to have ahigh affinity toward polyamine, spermine, however II isoenzyme toward
diamin, putrescine. Sodium floride was found to inhibit completely the activity of I and II isoenzymes . no effected on II
isoenzymes activity. Thiosemecarbazide showed different inhibitory effect on II isoenzymes activity.

Abstract

Being a source of polluting lake water of Mosul dam, this study was conducted to investigate the quality of Dohuk
valley influent, and the impact of self-purification processes on water quality before discharging into Mosul dam lake.
Water samples taken from different site along the valley were subjected to physical, chemical and biological analysis.
The results revealed that was devoid of dissolved oxygen and the values of biochemical oxygen demand and most of the
parameters studied were high as the valley’s influent flows through Dohuk city, whereas a great improvement in quality
is recorded before the water reaches the lake. This improvement could be attributed to the self-purification processes.
Despite the slight problems of salinity and toxicity, the water is suitable for irrigation along the sides of the valley

Abstract

In this research,The kinetic study of two isoenzymes of alanine aminopeptidase,which purified from the urine of
chronic renal failure patients was studied.Both isoenzymes were obeyed Michaelis-Mentons equation.The optimum
concentration of their substrate ( alanine-4- nitroanilide) was (2x10-3
) mole/liter. their Km values were determined.
Both isoenzymesI,II have shown an optimum pH at 7.8.The two isoenzymes obeyed Arrhenius equation up to 37º C and
their Ea and Q10 constant were determined,after measuring the activity of AAP of urine of chronic renal failure
patients.The two isoenzymes I and II of (AAP) were separated and purified in preveaus study from urine of patients of
chronic renal failure.

The study involved investigation of the adsorption of a number of azo dyes on activated carbon and studing the effect
of the position and kind the substituents on the adsorbents percentage. These dyes were synthesized from the reaction of
β -naphthol with aniline and some of its substituents. The effect of concentration ,temperature and pH were induced.
The results indicated that increasing the temperature will reduce the adsorption ratio, while dilution of dyes showed
high adsorptivity. This point is of avaluable interest because most of dyes as pollutants present in a minut

11 samples were taken from the recent sediments of Tigris River and its tributaries from the Lesser Zab in the north to
the Kut city in the south for the purpose of the studying the presence and percentage of the flaky minerals specially
muscovite, biotite and chlorite. The results showed the presence of these minerals in all the studied samples in different
percentage and higher results were recorded in the Fatha area sample due to the deposition most of the river load in this
region due to the lack of slop and the lack of speed of the river in the northern areas. This study also showed a
relationship between the grain size and concentration of mica minerals and chlorite since coarse sizes contain more
mica than fine sizes. The establishment of dams and the different source rocks and presence of agricultural lands have
significant impact in the concentration of these flaky mineral

Ten samples of various fresh fruit juices were collected which included pomegranate, orange, Apple, Banana, Coconut
and raisin Microbiological tests were performed to investigate, the presence of microorganisms.
The result showed that all the samples were contaminated with yeasts and moulds and most of them showed
contamination with different types of bacteria.
The highest contamination with yeast and moulds was found in raisin juice (9.88×102
) and the lowest contamination
was found in Banana juice (1.46×106

Abstract

The study concerned with describing the activity and some properties of the enzyme inorganic pyrophosphatase (EC
3.6.1.1) from Escherichia coli. A high activity of the enzyme was detected in Escherichia coli. The highest specific
activity of the enzyme was detected in the supernatant (466) nmol/min/mg protein and the lowest was in the precipitant,
by a sonication and centrifugation, (98) nmol/min/mg protein, while crude extract exhibited a value between the two
limits (420) nmol/min/mg protein. The optimum conditions of the enzyme activity were (300) mg protein as a source of
enzyme, (2.0) mmol of sodium pyrophosphate as a substrate, at pH (7.0) , with (10) minutes as incubation time at 37C
and the Michaelis-Menten constant (Km) was about (0.42) mmol

Abstract

The ABO blood groups distribution ratio was studied and also Rh-D ratio in(3177 ) individual males and females in
Tikrit city and Al-Alam city of Salah Al-Din Province .Recent study results showed high incidence of group (O) in
Tikrit city and Al- Alam city (44.22%)and (41.00%) respectively .
While blood group (AB) showed low incidence in both cities in Tikrit and Al-Alam city as followed (4.76%),(6.27%).
Blood group (A) show higher incidence in Al-Alam city (35.15%) more than in Tikrit city (23.81%).
Blood group (B) showed clear differences with low incidence in Al-Alam city (17.58) in comparism with Tikrit city
(27.21%).
Rh-D Factors showed higher incidence in this study (91%) of (Rh-D+ve) blood group in comparison with very low
incidence of (Rh-D-ve) in both cities (9%) of all studies samples .Male samples showed high incidence in O-ve ratio
compared females in Tikrit and Al-alam cities as followed (42.39%) , (39.21%) respectively.
While (AB-ve) showed low distribution ratio in all studied samples.
By which females in Tikrit city showed high distribution ratio of (A-ve) blood group (20.66%) compared with low
distribution ratio in Al-Alam city (6.86%)

Abstract

This study was included a cold proteinous and non-proteinous extracts of Capsicum frutescens plants. The study also
comprised the isolation and study the proteinous compounds, separated by using the gel filtration technique which was
isolated two compounds A (103968) Dalton and B (3553) Dalton.
Compounds were administrated interaperitioneally. After one week from the treatment the results were indicated that
the proteinous precipitate and (B) proteinous compound at the doses (150,75) body weight which were caused a
significant decrease (P < 0.05) in serum glucose (glu), total cholesterol (TC), total lipid, low density lipoproteincholesterol (LDL-C) levels and xanthine oxidase (XO) enzyme activity in liver, kidney and heart tissues, with an
associated significant increase (P < 0.05) in serum high density lipoprotein-cholesterol (HDL-C) level and superoxide
dismutase (SOD) enzyme activity in liver, kidney and heart tissues, in normal and alloxan-induced diabetic rabbits.
Finally, we suggest that most of compounds isolated from Capsicum frutescens plant (especially compound B) have
antidiabetic and antioxidative stress effect in normal and diabetic rabbits

Abstract

The study investigated , for the first time, measurement of the specific activity of Adenosine deaminase (ADA) in
serum ,thymus and bone marrow of BALB/c mice infected with protoscoleces of Echinococcus granulosus which are
exposed to the electric current 2v = 5.77mA/cm2
for 2min ، 3v = 11.82 mA/cm2
for 2min ,in comparison with the
control group( mice infected with protoscoleces which are not exposed to the electric current ) .
The results revealed, after three months of infection, that the specific activity of ADA in mice infected with
protoscoleces which are exposed to the electric current was significantly (P<0.01) higher in serum ,thymus and bone
marrow than the control group, and the electric current with 2v was more effective than the electric current with 3v.
The reduction in the ADA activity in the control group could be related to the immunosuppression state associated with
the development of the disease , and the increase in the specific activity of ADA, in mice infected with exposed
protoscoleces ,could be related to the immunostimulator activity of the electric current .

Abstract

The study of the effect of different nitrogen concentrations on the protein content and peroxidase activity of a local
isolate of the algae Chorella vulgare which obtained from local environment of Mosul city . Highest growth of
C.vulgare . (0.951) as optical density was achieved after fifteen days of incubation . Protein content reached maximum
(0.379) g/L after fourteen days of incubation . Peroxidase activity increased wite incubation period (0.388) unit / mg
protein till the fourteeth day of incubation . Final pH was higher than initial pH through all the incubation periods .
Highest growth of the algae (0.92) as optical density was achieved when nitrogen concentration in the medium was
(0.06 %) and the same picture was with peroxidase activity unit/mg protein . Protein content increased with increase of
nitrogen concentration till 0.2 % .
Final pH was higher than initial pH with all nitrogen concentrations used , Growth, peroxidase activity and protein
content of the local isolate of the algae Chorella vulgar

Abstract

This study was aimed to investigate the distribution of Entamoeba –histolytica, The causative agent of amoebic
dysentery, among the children aged 6 months to 10 years in Bastamally Village belong to Tuz district, Salah –Eideen
province. The stool samples were collected from Children attended the health center of the Village. This work also
aimed to delect the role of the service water in the distribution of the disease, 6 samples of water were collected from
different sources in the Village .Stool samples and water samples were examined by consentration method ( floatation
method ) by saturated zinc sulphate solution . The study was achieved in the periode from 15 November -2007 up to 15
March -2008. The results revealed that the ameobic desentry among the examined samples were 19.80% from 303
examined samples. Of the examined samples 148 were male and 155 were female, the infected samples of both sexes
were 54.05% and 22.38%, respectively. It was observed that the infection among the age group between 6 months to 5
years were higher39.8 %than that of 6 months to 10 years36.63%. All water samples Examined were positive for the
cysts of Entamoeba –histolytica
