Abstract
Abstrac:
This research deals with the development of the Western art from the Renaissance era to the contemporary era, with an emphasis on the religious, intellectual, political, and social influences that drawn the way of major artistic movements such as Baroque, Neoclassicism, Romanticism, Surrealism, and Abstract Art. The Western art in the Renaissance era began with a return of the Greek and Roman classical traditional methods, which formed the early movements of the arts in general and of plastic arts, sculpture, painting, and architecture in particular. This restoration participated to the growth of new artistic notions and focused the significance of individualism in artistic expression.
The current research contains four chapters. The first chapter shows the methodological framework of the study, containing the research problem, which can be summarized in the following question: What’s the Western art and how did it change from the Renaissance era to the modern era? This chapter also argues the significance of the research and the necessity for it, followed by the research objective, which aims to recognize the turns in Western art from the Renaissance era to the modern era. Furthermore, it contains the frame of the research and the definition of key terms.
The second chapter shows the theoretical framework and previous studies. The theoretical framework is divided into three sections. The first section argues Western art during the Renaissance. The second section addresses Western art through the modern period (17th–19th centuries). The third section concentrates on contemporary Western art (20th–21st centuries). The theoretical framework deduces with indicators derived by the researcher.
The third chapter shows the research procedures, including the research population, which contained (30) works, and the research sample, which contained (2) selected models. The fourth chapter displays the research results, conclusions, recommendations, and suggestions.
Through the most important outcomes found by the researcher are the following:
Numerous characters, signs, concepts, and new concepts were utilized in The Creation painting, supporting both artistic performance and intellectual idiom.
A collection of artistic utilized was employed in a new contemporary and professional manner, portraying the human spirit and its characteristics, while deeply blending the real world with a symbolic one.
Conclusions
Contemporary plastic artworks depend greatly on experimentation and innovation in molding the features of visual art. Painters and sculptors rely on harmony, balance, composition, and integrated artistic rhythm to make visual forms that present obvious and new visual vision.
